We had the best idea for taking our home’s curb appeal to the next level. Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you, the gloriously fabulous front yard fountain of our dreams! We know what you’re thinking. You can’t believe how swanky and high-end that fountain looks. Especially in front of our modest brick ranch. It’ll make our house look like a million bucks!
Isn’t that fantastic? Are you guys chomping at the bit to get one of your own? Oh and one more question. Do you remember what day it is? HAPPY APRIL FOOLS!

Haha, you two are so cute! Not many people play trickery on this day.
I, one year wrote up a two weeks notice letter to my boss and in the very last paragraph I stated that it was because it was April Fools day and he got a good laugh, but you should of seen his face when I said I was quitting!
Jessica @ How Sweet says
Ok – you totally had me!! This is the first blog April fool’s that I have fell for!

Shauna says
OMG! For a second there, I was wondering to myself what in the world you were thinking?! I love your blog, but I thought you had completely lost your minds. I didn’t even see the ‘April Fools’ message until after I clicked over to leave a comment. I was wondering how I could tactfully suggest that you ‘re-think’ your fountain plans?? Thank goodness it was just a silly joke!
brooke @ claremont road says
Teehee. Good one :)
One of my favorite houses in our neighborhood has the ugliest fountain out front… I dream of one day being able to buy that house, and immediately getting rid of that eyesore!
Lisa says
HAHAHAHAHA! I was thinking…oh no…they’ve lost their minds. What a great joke!
Nancy says
Thank goodness you were kidding!! All I could think of was the movie Analyze This.. with that big fountain in the front yard. LOL
Danielle@Newlyweds Paradise says
HAHAHA! At first I was thinking, “Sherry and John would never want to waste water or power on something like that!” Good one!
Susan says
As Ron Burgundy would say, “Stay classy, YHL.”
Love this post!

Kristen says

sami says
hahaha, I was reading it like “are they being serious? I don’t think they are being serious” and then I got to the bottom…good one good one…I think I might steal that idea and use it on my husband when I get home muahaha
Aileen says
My initial reaction: “How the heck did they make one of those?”. Nice. (and impressive photoshop skills).
Eric @ my first Garage says
I think you should run with the idea. Just imagine all the people that would walk by and toss a coin in it – you could have a whole new revenue stream – Stream – HA HA – get the pun?
amy says
I think you should add some MARBLE COLUMNS to your interior – talk about real class!
(also an SNL skit)
Samantha says
Well… if you do the fountain you might as well go all out with the semi-circle driveway too.. :)
Oonafey @ Little Pink Houses says
Thank god.
I actually thought you were serious…
Cassie says
Oh thank goodness it’s April Fools. I was thinking I’d have to find a new advice site ;)
good one you guys, you definitely had me worried!
Lindsay says
Haha! And I quote Dark Helmet from Spaceballs, “Haha! FOOLED YOU!”

Kate says
Haha, here is my exact line of thinking when I opened the blog:
*while page is loading* Hmmm, my work’s blog just had an April Fool’s joke, I wonder if YHL will.
*see the first picture* I suspect this is an April Fool’s post, but I kind of like that fountain…
*scroll to bottom* Aww, but I kind of liked the fountain…
I guess I have no taste, lol.
Jannell says
haha- OMG.
Totally thought you guys were our of your minds!
For a second I was thinking, ok, usually they have fantastic ideas… is there something I’m just not seeing about this? No, this is just horrible.
Would have been great if you left the April Fools reminder for a post later today- the comments would be hilarious!
Jamie says
I think you should do it. Heck, go all out, get a full on pond out there with water cannons – put the Bellagio to shame
Cat Alford says
I was thinking, “Wow…that’s kind of yucky Sherry!” lol!
young c-m says
LOL, thank God! Happy April Fools to you guys as well!
YL says
My first thought was that you had purchased a “Pourcelain Fooountain” from Mike’s Fountainry: http://www.hulu.com/watch/99948/saturday-night-live-porcelain-fountains. And then my next thought was “You know what would go great with that new fountain? Some Mahrble Coolumns!”… http://www.hulu.com/watch/2347/saturday-night-live-mikes-marbleopolis. Maybe next year…
Eryn says
That fountain is still so much better than the cat lamp or whatever that was!
haha
Leslie says
I totally had a raised eyebrow through out the whole post!
YoungHouseLove says
Haha, we’re loving all the SNL references. Those marble columns and porcelain fountain skits are the best.

Ashley @ Mutschler Family, Dallas Edition says
I think it would be a great addition… very economical and not at all wasteful ;)
Cheryl says
funny! First thought, so not their style. Second thought, time for a long weekend? Hormones getting way out of whack? Final thought, relieved!
jbhat says
Good one! ‘Appy April 1, Youngsters. Thanks for the joke.

Robin says
Ha!! Whew! Before I realized you were kidding, as I was reading I thought, “wow… well I guess someone can’t have perfect taste ALL the time…”
Diane Taylor says
OMG OMG this is best April Fool’s joke so far today. You guys had me fooled!
Charity says
Oh my, you had me going. I was like… really? Sherry and John? Really? Must say I was relieved it was a joke.
lauryn says
you totally got me! haha.
joan says
well… it would only look right in your front yard if you surrounded it with statues of greek gods and goddesses, preferably naked, and put up some marble columns on your house … then it’ll work ;)
Sarah says
haha I really thought you’d jumped the shark for a second there …
Shirley says
Very clever! Although when we were house-hunting, I did come across a gorgeous house BUT the house next door had not only a fountain, but TONS of statues outside of it on the front lawn… we thought about putting an offer on the house but it sold. Later, we were thinking of what kind of neighbors we would have had, and were SO glad we didn’t get that house!
YoungHouseLove says
Ditto on Sherry’s comment about loving the SNL references. But we can’t forget the original: You gotta get a chandelier!

“Look at this one. Look at that one….” Oh, ScarJo.

Christin says
I saw the first pic and immediately knew it was April Fool’s! Nice one though. :) Happy April!
Meggan says
Ok…I silently read your blog every day (twice a day) and am in constant awe of your style and decorating ability. I was so turned off by that fountain that for a split second I contemplated removing you from my favorites bar. I guess I’m the fool today!
Laura@JourneyChic says
Oh my, that monstrosity would look so ridiculous on your front lawn! If this wasn’t April Fool’s Day I think this drastic shift in decor would have to be blamed on pregnancy brain. :)
bridget b. says
How funny! I was thinking to myself “usually the youngsters’ tas have such good taste but I can’t co-sign this choice.”
Jamie says
wow, they really milked that one for all it was worth didn’t they?
