…let’s talk about you. During last year’s blogiversary extravaganza we polled our lovely readers to learn more about who they really are, and we thought that the beginning of year three marked the perfect time to do that again. So who the heck are you? And how you think we can amp up Young House Love in the coming year?
If ever there was a time to comment, it’s now. Please – no, pretty please – take two minutes to answer the questions below. And if you’ve never commented before or are unsure how, it’s easy. Just click the number in that green speech bubble to the right of this post’s title and scroll to the bottom of the page. Oh and real names and e-mail addresses aren’t required (feel free to make up something entertaining) so the pressure is off.
In a few days we’ll be back with a little summary of your comments (you know we like to read each and every one) so we can begin to formulate a bona fide plan to pimp Young House Love even more in year three. So without further ado, here’s what we’re dying to know:
- Who are you? Male/Female? Age? Location? Marital status? Any kids? Pets?
- How often do you read Young House Love? (Daily? Once a week? Whenever you have free time at work?)
- What are your favorite types of posts & why? (Easy DIY ideas? Before & after pictures? Design Dilemmas? Major home improvement undertakings? Videos? Something else?)
- What advice do you have for us to make YHL even better in year #3? (More of something in particular? Less of something else?)
- Is there a topic or other area of our lives you’d like us to talk about more frequently?
- Anything else you want us to know, or just gotta share with the world? (If you have a blog of your own, feel free to plug it here!)
Thanks in advance for your input! We really value your thoughts, comments and suggestions. After all, if it hadn’t been for last year’s poll we wouldn’t have known you guys wanted giveaways… which means no one would be winning $500 from Lowe’s this Friday!

1. Who are you?
31 year old married female with two kittens and a new to us house
2. How often do you read Young House Love?
whenever it comes up on my google reader
3. What are your favorite types of posts & why?
I like the small project ideas, like the ceiling painting, especially when, like that example they can really be applied to any decor style or taste
4. What advice do you have for us to make YHL even better in year #3?
Keep up the mix of topics. I would love to see even more of the reader redesign type posts, or of you helping other people decorate but in other styles. And more ideas of where to shop, I am always looking for new online sources for stuff for our house.
5. Is there a topic or other area of our lives you’d like us to talk about more frequently?
I like the personal kind of stuff, it’s nice to feel like you really know someone so maybe just more about who you guys are.
6. Anything else you want us to know, or just gotta share with the world?
Who doesn’t have one?

Happy Blog Anniversary!
Hello. I am Sara, age 28, married with one kiddo and one cat named Bogart. We live in Washington State.
I check your blog about every other day.
I like a lot of your posts but my favorites are the videos and the DIY projects. My house is a hot mess so those help inspire me to whip my place into shape.
The only idea I have is maybe video posts with tips and tours from guest bloggers or other people with great houses?
I do have a blog. :-)

Female, 39, married, subscribe via google reader and read every single day. I just love your blog!
My faves are the before and after pics, house crashing, and giveaways. I love that you are thrifty, young and trendy!
I am pretty cheap in all areas of my life, but there are things I leave to the pros and don’t mind spending money on: refinishing floors, doing drywall, windows, etc. I like saving $ on the trendy stuff so that I don’t feel like I have to keep something forever out of guilt.
I love your clean aesthetic.
Keep up the great work in Year 3!

5. You guys are just adorable in general! Maybe recipes? Workouts?
6. Love love love it! THanks for sharing such great articles!

I have made it part of my daily routine when I finish my morning meeting minutes – I have a peek
Favourite post are DIY, decorating ideas – My husband and I spend our weekends renovating our house for hopeful sale at a profit so we can oneday afford our dream farm.
Obviously more posts would be great… When I first found you guys I had an amazing time reading all the old posts.
Getting to know you guys has been great – but I don’t like to feel like I am being nosey – I think that you currently have the right balance.

1. I’m Julie – 31 years old, married with two kids. We live outside of Boston, but I’m originally from SF.
2. I check this blog multiple times daily – one of the advantages of working from home, I suppose!
3. Favorite types of posts: Before & Afters, DIY, Reader Redesigns, How-To Guides, and Design Dilemmas – anything that gives good design/redesign ideas.
4. Improvements: More design dilemmas, please! I know you’re busy with all the other things that go on with this blog and your shop, but I get the sense that this is the FAVE for most of your readers. Can you possibly take more than 3 per week???
5. Aside from more design dilemmas, I can’t think of anything I’d like you to talk about more frequently?
6. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate what you do. I’ve used a few of your How-To guides – you are my go-to source when I want to know how to do something like paint wood paneling or put down a new vinyl tile floor. I’ve been updating my kitchen using suggestions I’ve found on your blog, and hope to send some before & after pics as soon as I finish the last decorating touches.

2 :: How often do you read Young House Love? (Daily? Once a week? Whenever you have free time at work?) I read your blog daily. I found you through a link on someone else's blog about two months ago and proceeded to read all of your back entries starting at the beginning and working forward. Now I'm all caught up and eagerly await every new entry! :)
3 :: What are your favorite types of posts & why? (Easy DIY ideas? Before & after pictures? Design Dilemmas? Major home improvement undertakings? Videos? Something else?) I also love your silly videos, house crashing entries, vacation entries and your tips on how to cut costs.

I love young house love (15 year olds can like design blogs too:)) and i definitely read daily! I love the DIY’s, videos and before and afters-so keep them coming! And as a high school student-cheap ways to make my room a better place are appreciated! YHL is great the way it is-so just keep it great in year 3. I love reading about your road trips-so,that’s the only topic I’d love reading more about. And I think your blog is awesome! Keep up the AWESOME work!
Oh and happy blogaversary (if I spelled that right)!

1. 22-year-old male (boy do I feel in the minority). Hollywood, CA. Single. No kids, no pets (though hopefully a dog soon).
2. Read it whenever it pops up in my RSS feed – so daily!
3. I loved reading the archives most, seeing the big transformations unfold. Now those are mostly done, so I like Before & Afters, and just the more personal “let us tell you what’s up in our lives” posts. I’m liking the videos, too, but I’ll implore you again: invest in Final Cut! You’ll be so happy you did.
4. Since you guys have exhausted most of the more dramatic changes you’re going to do in the house (until, of course, you do the basement or add on to the house) – how about highlighting other renovations? Or bringing in some guest bloggers to broaden the variety of styles featured here? I think that if you guys want to broaden out into casting a wider net over the personal blogging sphere, then perhaps having less of an emphasis on personal preferences, etc. Like, I love seeing personal touches like sharing how you organize your spice rack or something like that, but a more comprehensive blog would use that merely as a segue into highlighting spice racks at various outlets that you guys like. (I hope that made sense.)
5. Not particularly. I like the balance you guys have.
6. Keep up the good work. I look forward to reading whenever you update.

2. I read daily–twice daily most days! I’d read you five times a day if there were that many posts!
3. I love design dilemmas and cheap, chic DIY ideas. Oh, and your organizing tips are fantastic, whether for organizing stuff or organizing meals and time! Your frugalista posts are great too. Oh, and I haven’t seen a lot of house crashing recently, and those are fun.
4. It would be great to see more posts about putting things together–choosing colors, patterns, accessories, etc. Also, it would be neat to have a mini version of design dilemmas–like choosing colors or changing a room layout. And what about answering reader questions regarding specific problems and coming up with a solution?

2. I check your website each time you update because my little notification setting on my blog tells me so.
3. My favorite posts are the before and afters and any DIY projects because I LOVE to make things!
4. Well, this depends more on others than you I suppose, but I always wonder how those design dilemmas turn out when they’re complete. I would LOVE to see more afters but I know that really depends on whether or not they take your advice and work hard to complete their projects.
5. I would love to see some fun toddler/child room ideas. Some cool themed stuff since kids are like that at that age. My 2 year old has the coolest plane room ever but I need ideas for my three year old. A rocket/outer space room perhaps? I’m willing to bet you guys would be great at fun and funky ideas for this.

4. 4. Probably more budget friendly DIY ideas. I loved when you did the DIY ideas on items you saw in the hotel and stores in Nashville. I think something like that would be awesome to see more of, because everyday I see things that would be great, but may not have the creativity (or time)to figure out how to make it for myself.

4. To be honest, I tend to skip the mood board entries. There is too much text blocked off and it’s annoying to scroll up and down between the mood board and the descriptions of each item. I think I’d be more interested if each image was aligned to its description.
5. I really enjoy your personal entries! Maybe some about cooking and your home life? Making salsa was nice, I hope to see more food on here!

3. My favorite posts are DIY ideas and before & afters.
4. Hmm…maybe include more entertaining and party ideas. And there can never be too many fun DIY ideas! :)
5. I have enjoyed some of the recent posts that let us know a little more about you personally.
6. I have a blog at http://www.apaigeinhistory.blogspot.com. Your blog really inspires me to take on more projects are the house. It is our first home also, so we are having a blast making it our own! Thanks for all the inspiration and ideas! :)

1: I’m a 34 year old female named Kimmi, married 13 years to a 35 year old male named Abre (who playfully thinks you should rename the blog “How to make a honey-do list”, he also likes Young house love). We have 2 boys, Oskar(4) and Ben(1), 1 dog Marley(12) and we live in Orlando, Fl.
2. How often do you read Young House Love?
I check in at least once a week. Abre checks in when you guys have a great idea I need to share with him :o)
3. What are your favorite types of posts & why?
I like the easy DIY posts and also the “how to design” tips. I have a technical background (I work in software) so most of my “decorating” looks clinical; I desperately need the direction (mixing textures patterns, thinking about the room in layers, complimentary colors, etc).
4. For year 3, can we explore some seasonal, or mini-makeovers? I get sick of a room pretty fast. Abre is tired of painting, I’m thinking of painting whites appropriate for the lighting… but I’d love to design with stuff. Re-arranging to make things fresh and new but not a huge makeover (where I might be able to switch up in a year). I guess a before… then a summer/ winter after. Oh, and multi-purpose room ideas (computers, records, treadmills, books, books, elliptical – surprisingly its not pack-ratting… we actually use all of it).
5. I like all the “green” ideas.
6. Anything else you want us to know, or just gotta share with the world? – Nope, just I really love your blog. Thanks for doing it, it makes me happy and hopeful.

1.Who are you? – My name is Katie I am 29 (5 days away from 30… eek!), married to my incredible husband Todd, and have one black pup.. the Snoop dog! We recently moved from Indianapolis to the Chicagoland area and are closing on a new home next Friday.. happy 30th birthday to me! I have been anxiously awaiting this move so that I can hire my favorite blog authors for a makeover! I have been a secret blogger for awhile but now I get to speak up and seek your counsel!!
2.How often do you read Young House Love? – I typically log on daily as my job is done from my computer so it’s easy for me to hop on! I have to see all the new photos or I feel like I am missing out.
3.What are your favorite types of posts & why? – I’d have to say the Easy DIY ideas as the major home improvements overwhelm me a bit. I LOVE your master Bedroom Makeover as well as that pimp new laundry room! I will say the videos make me laugh and my husband always knows when there is a new one posted as he can sense my excitemnt!
4.What advice do you have for us to make YHL even better in year #3? (More of something in particular? Less of something else?) – Keep up the DIY projects, love the photos and fun captions for each day! Paint ideas and mixes of colors is a huge struggle so maybe continued ideas on color mixing!
5.Is there a topic or other area of our lives you’d like us to talk about more frequently?- Your wedding post was amazing!… how you decorated, budgeted, creative ideas, etc. I think a great post would be entertaining. You two are super fun and I’m sure entertain at that beautiful home of yours! I’d love to see some entertaining tips and budgeting ideas for parties or friend gatherings.
6.Anything else you want us to know, or just gotta share with the world? – Can’t wait to start my own blog.. I know I should just begin but I feel like I may not have much to share yet, I feel like a need a kid or good ideas like you two!

Hey guys! Love your blog and everything that you do!
The only thing I would like to see different is: if you are posting a reader redesign or a design delima, please only do 1 a day and make your 2nd post of the day about you or your house or something else.
it makes me sad to see both posts in one day about design delimas or redesigns.
:)

2. How often do you read Young House Love?
Every other day, if not daily.

I’d really like to see what you guys do for parties/entertaining.
5.Is there a topic or other area of our lives you’d like us to talk about more frequently?
I’d dig knowing what your typical day is like, Sherry. And John, I wish you’d make a Pandora radio station.
6. Anything else you want us to know, or just gotta share with the world? (If you have a blog of your own, feel free to plug it here!)
As a young professional in the publishing world who is routinely told that we “young folks” have no concept of how to write, I’d like to thank you for having solid grammar, structure, and syntax. Totally nerdy, I know. :)

4. As I said above, I love being able to see a photo of how you used something (a vase, a picture, furniture) and then have a link of where to get it!
5. I think you guys cover such a wide range of things – but keep the tips and tricks coming, helpful hints and mood boards! :)
6. Thanks for all you do – you have given me and the husband the inspiration to try lots of things on our own (like our landscaping)!

i’m a 25-year-old married female living in Virginia. No kids. 1 gecko.
I read YHL every day, or when it comes up on google reader. I just started reading it recently, though, so not sure what you can improve on. like the before and after pics and easy organizing/decorating ideas. I might like some looks at different styles of decorating–some darker/richer tones sometimes instead of everything light and tan/cream/white, or country-looking. I really like your blog though, and you have really great giveaways!
