…let’s talk about you. During last year’s blogiversary extravaganza we polled our lovely readers to learn more about who they really are, and we thought that the beginning of year three marked the perfect time to do that again. So who the heck are you? And how you think we can amp up Young House Love in the coming year?
If ever there was a time to comment, it’s now. Please – no, pretty please – take two minutes to answer the questions below. And if you’ve never commented before or are unsure how, it’s easy. Just click the number in that green speech bubble to the right of this post’s title and scroll to the bottom of the page. Oh and real names and e-mail addresses aren’t required (feel free to make up something entertaining) so the pressure is off.
In a few days we’ll be back with a little summary of your comments (you know we like to read each and every one) so we can begin to formulate a bona fide plan to pimp Young House Love even more in year three. So without further ado, here’s what we’re dying to know:
- Who are you? Male/Female? Age? Location? Marital status? Any kids? Pets?
- How often do you read Young House Love? (Daily? Once a week? Whenever you have free time at work?)
- What are your favorite types of posts & why? (Easy DIY ideas? Before & after pictures? Design Dilemmas? Major home improvement undertakings? Videos? Something else?)
- What advice do you have for us to make YHL even better in year #3? (More of something in particular? Less of something else?)
- Is there a topic or other area of our lives you’d like us to talk about more frequently?
- Anything else you want us to know, or just gotta share with the world? (If you have a blog of your own, feel free to plug it here!)
Thanks in advance for your input! We really value your thoughts, comments and suggestions. After all, if it hadn’t been for last year’s poll we wouldn’t have known you guys wanted giveaways… which means no one would be winning $500 from Lowe’s this Friday!

1. Female,26; Fogelsville, PA. Married, two stepdaughters (not living with us)and one loveable mutt named Tucker.
2. I try to get to the blog once a day, but sometimes work/life gets in the way, ya know? But I often go back to it a lot as a reference for DIY projects & such. (When I first discovered the blog I think I spent the better part of a week reading every last inch of it ’til I felt I was sufficiently caught up.)
3. I love the mood board posts because they give great inspiration and resources for where to find super cool stuff. I also love the house crashing posts, because I LOVE to see what other people do with their space and I just love houses in general. I don’t usually love videos on websites, but yours are adorable so I always watch. I also love all of your ideas about how to save dough and still feel like a million bucks. I love it all!
4. I’d love to see more housecrashing, but I realize these probably require a lot of time and coordination on your part. I think you have such a great variety of postings that I’m sure you’ll always find a way to keep the blog as fresh as your decor. Truly, I never ever read a blog until I found your site. I thought the concept of a blog was boring. But your blog reflects many of the same things I’m striving to create in my own little corner of the world, so it always keeps me coming back.
5. I kinda think maybe I blabbed enough in number 4 to cover this one.
6. It’s just nice to find others who are similarly passionate/obsessed about their home, but in a way that’s not extravagant or stuck-up, more real and practical. Keep up the awesome work!

1. I am a 30-year-old female living in the Detroit area. Single. No kids. Dreaming of the day a Goldendoodle or Great Dane puppy will become a part of my life…
2. I read it daily, during my free time at work. How’s that for combining two options from the provided answers?
3. I love the mood board posts and DIY on the cheap. And videos with Katie Bower :) I want to be friends with you guys!
4. The only way this is getting better is if I actually WIN a giveaway. Baby steps.
5. I would love to see if you guys entertain or what your friends are like (if they don’t mind being all over the blogosphere).

2. I read your posts whenever they hit my inbox.
3. I love your DIYs and Before-and-Afters the best. But DIYs, especially.
4. Two things: I would love more advice on ENTERTAINING (I loved your table decor video) and ideas for the HOLIDAYS.
5. I love it when you post simple and innovative ideas, many of which involve low to zero cost, that I can incorporate immediately into my home. (i.e. items I never would have thought to display or make into art, a new way of organizing I hadn’t considered before, or a new idea for arranging furniture.)
6. You’ve been such an inspiration, especially in these tough economic times. I am REALLY inspired to see a young couple who’s successful in their own business doing what they love. Thank you!

2. Every time you post. ;) I have you guys on my google reader, which is amazing.
3. I really like the major home improvement undertakings. I also like the little bits of advice you give – like how to redo the caulking on the tub and that you can remove door jams on door frames without removing the frames. The little things you guys have discovered while remodeling have helped us tremendously in our remodeling. I also like the simple DIY projects.
4. No suggestions from me. I like it.
5. I like it when you guys discuss finances. It’s refreshing to know that you guys have done the remodeling on a budget and with cash – not on credit. We’re doing it that way too.
6. We just started a blog. Well, we’ve had it awhile, but I think we have a direction now. We are in the process of sharing our remodeling experiences, financial goals and ideas, and estate sale finds on our blog. We also talk a bit about our lives and our dogs. Haha. We bought a 1960 Ranch Style home just north of Dallas and we are working on restoring it to its glory as a mid-century modern home. I have been enthralled with that era and have been on scavenger hunts to find the right furniture, dishes, and other items to fit. My husband does most of the posting because I don’t consider myself as good of a writer as him. Haha. Anyway, here it is http://www.chadwellchronicles.com
Keep up the great work!

2.I’ve been reading your site daily for the past 3-4 weeks
3.I love seeing the Before & After pictures; it’s so inspiring to see how a coat of paint or new curtains can update a room. I also love the easy DIY ideas, particularly ones that aren’t home remodeling (painting, changing flooring/cabinets/countertops, etc.) because my husband and I are in an apartment for the next 2 years, so painting and renovating aren’t a possibility at the moment.
4.Is there any way you could categorize the links? Like into blogs, stores or home businesses, etc. Sorry to be so picky…I’m a librarian and I love categories!
5.I enjoy reading whatever you decide to share…road trips, weddings, or home makeovers. I especially appreciate how often you update your site. There always seems to be something new when I visit.
6.This blog has made me SOOOOO excited to own my own home! It will probably be awhile before we can buy a house, but I know where to come for house-hunting tips and decorating ideas when the time comes. Thanks so much for all the hard work you put into this blog!

4.Could it get any better? I’m afraid that you are going to get to the point where you reach house perfection and then what will you write about?!
5. I really like the Q & A video that you just did. It’s great to see your personalities, and some light playful bickering, etc. So I guess some stuff that strays away from pure renovation/ decorating.

2. Daily and at work. You inspire me more than you’ll ever know!
3. Before and After is for sure the best, especially when they provide an update!
4. I think you have a good formula going now, and if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Maybe just a tiny bit more explanation of how you come up with your vision and once you know what to do, how to expand with the decor you choose? I have no natural design talent, so it would be nice to know how you even start when coming up with a room design.

4. You guys are doing an awesome job…maybe add in some pet-centric ideas or projects. For example how to incorporate a pet’s space and needs with one’s overall home decor or outside living areas (For example, I wrestle with how to make two litter boxes discreet and not eye catching…or how to reign in various dog toys/bones scattered all over….or how to provide cozy places for cats without pet beds and towels all over. There may be no rememdy for any of this….but here’s hoping. :)

The main reason I love your site: you two are so darn-to-earth (and funny!), you come up with realistic and affordable ideas and you really have a mature way of approaching problems (i.e. the new name change, etc.)
4. Improvements…hmmm…. you have such an AWESOME site that I can’t think of any at the moment. Keep up the great posts!

5. Can’t think of anything.
6. Well, I have a blog: http://allthingsjenny.wordpress.com I hope once I’m done with university, which should be in October, there should be a lot more interesting things to write about, especially when I move :-)

1. I’m Courtney, 21, finishing up my senior year at UNC, and getting married a year from last Friday! My fiance and I have a 4 month old puppy, but it sadly lives with him an hour and a half away back at home.
2. How often do you read Young House Love? A couple times a week – usually at night when I am daydreaming about buying our new home!
3. What are your favorite types of posts & why? The DIY projects are my favorite! The smaller-budget projects are great for me, and I love to do things myself rather than just pay someone else! It’s much more rewarding!
4. What advice do you have for us to make YHL even better in year #3? I love everything – the before and after pictures are so great, it amazes me what all you can do!
5. Is there a topic or other area of our lives you’d like us to talk about more frequently? Holiday ideas!
6. Anything else you want us to know, or just gotta share with the world? I saw someone’s post that said they are possibly moving to Winston-Salem soon… that’s my hometown, and I think a city guide to some places around the United States, even if it’s made by your fans instead of you both, would be great!
