Well my hubs and I just put in new hickory floors this weekend in our living room (http://jax-and-jewels.blogspot.com/2014/02/living-room-hardwood-floor-installation.html), but we’ve still got a ton of rooms left to do! This is awesome.

Best giveaway ever! fingers crossed!

I would so love to win this giveaway! My husband and I are about to sell our house (and move in with the inlaws, ahhh!) so that we can start building our dream Craftsman style home! Which will of course have lots of hardwoods!
Katie says
Oh man! This would be amazing!! We have been putting our hardwood dreams on hold for the past few months due to other surprise expenses. This would really make my day, no actually it would make my year!
Andrea says
This would be perfect for us right now! Just got a puppy and beginning to realize that carpet is going to be a nightmare. this would be amazing!

As someone who is resting from endless painting to noodle around my favorite blogs and gossip sites this can’t have come at a better time, I think my heart skipped a beat. Maybe the prize should go to someone else because I think I’d have a heart attack.
But my basement wouldn’t miss me much if it had one of these lovely floors instead of the teenage party stained carpet. My daughters friends would be banished however.
Bridget says
Good bye carpet, bring on the hand scraped wood floors. This is an awesome giveaway, thanks! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed!

Hopefully I can win this giveaway for my mom! She has always done so much for me and I would love to be able to do something fantastic for her!

I need to win this! I missed the ugly floor contest. My floors are worse than the winners floors were! I have holes all over the laminate in the kitchen and soft spots under the outdated shag in the living room, that is falling apart. There is even blue shag carpet in the master bathroom! And we don’t use the spare bathroom because the floor is rotted underneath the laminate and I am afraid of some one falling thru. I need to win this badly because I have to fix my floors but do not have the money to do so.

This could not have come at a better time. Fingers crossed!
On a side note…
We moved into our home a year and a half ago; first time buyers. The wood laminate was brand new. Within 6 months the floor planks were separating from each other. Now, a year and a half later there are gaps – some as bad as half an inch – all over the floor. This covers our entry, kitchen, family room, dining. I have been told by two separate floor people that nothing can be done at this point; just replace. We do not have the money to replace. There were many expensive issues after we moved in that were not found by inspector that ate up our savings (no warranty!).
I would like to know if anyone knows why this would have happened (I have been told poor install) or if there is a way to repair this – even temporarily – until they can be replaced. I have tried pushing together and gluing down at the end of the row; this seems to have made it worse…
THANKS!
YoungHouseLove says
Hmm, it sounds to me like maybe they weren’t given time to acclimate? Wood can shrink and expand in a house, so before it’s installed you’re supposed to let it sit before installing it for a bunch of days in a row, just to let it “acclimate” and then when you install it, you’re less likely to deal with bowing/swelling or shrinking/gapping.

Hi Rebekah,
We asked our professionals for their opinion of what may have happened to your floors – this is what they said: Wood is hygroscopic which means it readily receives and releases moisture depending on the environment around it. Flooring needs to be protected from wide moisture changes and it needs to be kept in a 40 – 50 relative humidity range. Lower ranges dry the wood and causes the wood to shrink. There are professional inspectors that could come and help make a determination as to the cause.
We hope this was helpful! Follow us on Facebook for more contests and opportunities to win! https://www.facebook.com/ImpressionsHardwoodCollection

This would be amazing! My husband and I literally just moved into our first home together over the weekend as we are expecting our first baby in May and wanted more space and to shorten my hour commute. We are planning to put in hardwood floors to replace to dirty carpet and laminate once we have saved enough money. Perfect timing?!

We just bought our second house 2 weeks ago and we have big plans for it! We’re dying to rip up the maroon carpet and lay hardwoods, but budget-wise that is a good 9 months away. This giveaway would be a tremendous help!! Until the hardwoods, we’ve got maroon wallpaper to tear down, maroon paint to paint over, and maroon blinds to spray paint. At least the sellers took all their maroon furniture with them! ;)
Jen G. says
I would love this! My husband and I are looking to replace the worn out and stained parquet that we have in our living room and the the cheap almond colored laminate in our dining room! We bought the house a few months ago and having been slowly upgrading! This would be so helpful. I haven’t won anything yet, so fingers crossed that this is the time!!

Aw man, maybe next time, Sarah! We always email the winner, so we have and she has already responded and collected her prize. She also commented here in the comments and we congratulated her, so that’s another hint if you have a common name and wonder if it’s you (that’s usually at the very back of the comments). One thing that does help is to enter with a less common moniker, just to keep you from wondering in the future (ex:SarahLovesBears). Hope it helps!
