You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!
I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.
- PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Not too much is quirky in our house(I’ll have to work on that) but I suppose the posters I made for either side of our fireplace/tv that read “wouldn’t you rather be reading?” are sort of quirky because the phrase is split in two with the tv in the middle. Everyone stops to read what the heck it says!

Fab me! The LR rug is funky, bright and colorful. I’ve always loved it – but now that it’s the back drop for so many baby pics, I’m getting a bit tired of it.

The weirdest/coolest thing in my apartment is the longhorn skull on one side of our living room window…and a painting of a longhorn skull on the other side. Creates a cool/creepy Southwestern symmetry that we love.

I’ve got a ceremonial leather bag in bright colors from Algeria hanging on the wall in my kitchen. It doesn’t make any sense and it has nothing to do with kitchens or eating, but it makes me happy!

FAB ME! I was thinking that we didn’t really have anything fab and quirky in our house. And then I remembered an acquaintance who, upon being invited over, replied “oh yes, I have to see that purple wall.” She was referring to our living room paint (which she’d seen behind our daughter in a photo), which really isn’t all that bold a color choice for us. So, in retrospect, I think all of our house is pretty quirky. And the three people who live in it are probably the quirkiest of all. (I give the dogs a pass. They really get no say in the matter.)
Kelli W. says

There is a half wide door in my apartment, a remnant of early 1900s ventillation that we call “tiny door” good for sneaking up on people in the dining room:)
Trish T. says
FAB ME!
I am kind of obsessed with original art purchased from yard sales and thrift stores. They tend to end up for sale in those places for a reason, I suppose, but I like to give them a home.

The quirkiest item in our house is a fireplace screen that has a giant peacock on it – I wasn’t crazy about it when my husband brought it home, but it’s growing on me :)
Kate says
FAB ME!! I snagged a misshapen red heart (made out of corrugated metal) from my in-laws garage…it had been an item they had failed to get rid of at a garage sale. I hung it on the wall in our bedroom with some other art and I love it. I also inherited an old wooden wine rack that my parents received as a wedding gift. I gave it a spray paint makeover (teal) and now it lives in our kitchen.

FAB ME! I LOVE Fab. Did most of my Christmas shopping there.
We have a 6-foot-tall bronze sculpture of a frog (made by a VA artist!). He’s dressed as a butler and his name is Milhouse. He’s my day’s favourite thing, and we dress him up for various holidays. He stands in the entryway, and often gets mistaken for a mysterious lurking stranger for those unused to his presence.
Anna says
I love my bright blue retro couch in my den. Its just bold enough to make me smile, but with my colors, it acts as a neutral to all of my yellow and orange accents ;0)
