You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!
I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.
- PRIZE: A $500 gift card toward Fab
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FAB ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …what’s something weird, quirky, or colorful in your home that you love? Is it a bold art print in your entryway? An armchair with a happy pattern in your living room? Or several dozen ceramic animals placed throughout your house… not that we’d know anything about that.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 30th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States, Canada, and much of Europe (click here for a specific list of countries)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

FAB ME!!
My collection of Elephant statues in all sizes! My newest and most out there is a NEON ORANGE ceramic Indian Elephant with gold accenting. Its about the size of Burger! It’s vintage and has a lovely crazing in the ceramic glaze (I’m a ceramic artist) that I just love! It’s definitely far from my muted shabby chic style but I think it will be perfect in the future to add a pop of color in an otherwise very muted color chemed room!

I cut up a yukata from Japan and put it into a few IKEA shadow box frames in my hallway. I never wore it, but now I get to enjoy the pretty designs every day.

FAB ME!
I handpainted a few pieces such as a bowl, plate, and serving tray at a pottery painting store. These pieces are themed in LSU Tigers, which is my diehard college football love and obsession. I have the bowl displayed in a little shelf in the kitchen. It may be quirky to some, but it’s very “me” and that makes me happy :)

FAB ME!! Pretty Please!
I have a statue of a monkey on my shelf. It is similar to one on a show my husband and I watched a long time ago called Wonderfalls. In the show the monkey says “I love you” so when I found this statue I bought it for my hubs without hesitation. To us it says “I love you” to others, well it probably just looks silly.

We’re pretty geeky and quirky in this house. Our walls are filled with signed convention sketches and collectible mondo posters but out of everything up there I would have to say my favorite is a custom doctor who neon bar sign I got off ebay (long before the days of etsy).

My favorite fab, weird thing in my house is probably the antlers I just hung in my living room. They are 50 years old from a deer shot by a distant Uncle Fritz who used to make turtle soup. Fun, right?? I keep trying to tell people that taxidermy is “in.”

My husband was very close to his grandfather. Growing up he would accompany him while he worked in the oil fields that he managed in Western North Dakota. When he passed away about 6 years ago, he gave my husband a large model of an oil well made entirely out of copper. It is very quirky, but has so much special meaning for him.
