Fab Freebie: A Literal Fab Freebie

You guys hit the 10,000 entry cap to giveaway within 24 hours, so you must love some Fab as much as I do (or perhaps you just like $500). Either way, we’ve crowned a random winner and it is… Whitney (who says “Most of my apartment is muted gray, yellow, and blue, but my kitchen has bright red baking dishes on display.”) Congrats Whitney!

I’m a recent addict to Fab (I own more t-shirts from there than I probably should admit). So imagine my reaction when I got an email from them offering to do a – wait for it – $500 Fab gift card giveaway for you guys. Their site includes items marked down between 10-60% from retail prices across just about every category – home, accessories, art, kitchen, pets, kids, clothing, jewelry, etc. And everything is selected with a discriminating-but-not-too-serious design eye. There’s an emphasis on quirky, weird, and colorful items within their sales… which means there’s a lot of fun to be had while spending the five hundred beans that are up for grabs.

    FAB ME!

    I absolutely love interior design and decorating my home. My favorite thing is my large multi-colored grey rug that has a bright lime green flower in the middle of it… This rug is the inspiration of the whole room and everything else that gradually gets chosen is centered around how it works with this rug. I would love the chance to decorate, and possibly even finish decorating (does that even happen?) this room. Thank you!

    FAB ME!

    I collect skulls and mummified creatures and they are ALL OVER my home. I never buy them – they are all found creatures who (presumably) died from natural causes. (I do a lot of hiking/camping and that’s how I find most of this stuff.) I’m not a fan of murder or roadkill, so you won’t find anything bloody or gory or murdered. So far in my collection of found mummies: a squirrel’s head, a tiny lizard, multiple birds, one large frog, a mother mouse and her three babies. Found skulls include horse, llama, and alpaca. In my freezer awaiting mummification: three humming birds, a couple of sparrows, and a garden snake. My husband is not pleased about the freezer collection, but I insist it’s temporary until I can make some Natron (a mixture of salts used for mummification.)

    FAB ME! I have this painting of a robot that totally reminded me of my husband. We bought it on vacation and it makes me smile with its quirkiness each day!

    Quirky… hmmm… Our upstairs loft is painted orange and brown. We still have decorating touches to add to the room, but it will be the brightest, most fun room of the house when its done!

    I found a sassy piece of yarn art at a thrift store that I absolutely love…it is a floral motif featuring a bright red poppy.

    We have giant (and I mean full sized) Superman and Lord of the Rings movie posters hanging in our spare room/library. I have to admit, they’re pretty cool…

    I’ve got this wire moose that hangs on the wall and it’s antlers are like little hooks so you can hang your coat!

    FAB ME! We bought a huge yellowish china cabinet that comes apart into three pieces to move easily. It takes up an entire wall but looks so perfect against our light grey walls with two arm chairs in front of it. It was definitely a great garage sale find!

    FAB ME! i just love FAB.com! i just ordered from them recently and got a corrugated cardboard “chair/stool” that holds up to 440 lbs! i also have so many different colored pillows on our couches.

    FAB ME!
    I have a happy buddha collection which I loveeeee. It started out as an inheritance from my gramps (he collected them and used to tell me where each one came from while he was living) and then turned into a rather large collection of my own. I’ve got mild colored ones all the way through the neons.

    My quirkiest item is probably a big rubber squid that I found at a dollar store, spray painted white and now display on a table in my entry. :)

    my current fave is the big old trunk that my new in-laws gave us for a wedding present. my mother-in-law refurbished it and i love that it’s getting a new life as our end table!!

    FAB ME! The quirky item in my house is our entry-way guardian…a 3ft Ceramic Monkey with a flower hat and large lady boobs holding a smaller monkey, presumably, her monkey child. She was placed secretly in our home by our friends during a war we are currently involved in where we leave obnoxious items in each others’ houses, and she was such a quirky conversation piece, we kept her in the entry to greet guests. Picture upon request :)

    We have a completely random paper chain hanging “artfully” around the doorway to our family room. My 9 year old daughter made it last year and I can’t bear to toss it out because it’s so dang cheerful!

    FAB ME!

    I recently painted an old desk chocolate brown. On one side however I painted it purple, put a decal on it and then painted over it with more chocolate. Then I peeled it off and I have a lovely purple flower.

    FAB ME! I have a 1970’s green, blue, and yellow, striped lamp that I love. It doesn’t match anything in my home but I just can’t part with it.
