We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?
And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…
…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.
And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).
So here’s the gist:
- PRIZE: Your choice of any tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Just about everything turns out better if I take my time… cooking or DIY “do the prep, enjoy the prep” is my mantra as I begin a new project, but most importantly I find it is a good way to parent!

MARIGOLD ME! I’m so at reading. If i try to read fast, I only get half the story and have to go back and re-read which takes ever MORE time than just reading slowly in the first place!

I am a therapist and am challenged everyday to slow down and allow the “process” to happen at it’s own pace. Usually lasting change seems to take lots of hard work and patience, but like these block prints the results are well worth the effort!

This is one I have trouble with, but The Boy is teaching me that home improvement–GOOD home improvement anyway–requires time. I like to rush through things for that instant gratification, but I’m learning that we get much better results–painting, refinishing our floors, hanging cabinets–when we take our time.

It’s so not what you’re asking, but a kiss is *totally* worth taking the time to do right. :)

Time with my husband, we are always on the go… so when we’re together I like to take it super slow and enjoy every moment… whether we’re cooking, taking a walk, or just simply sitting together on the front porch. We’re expecting our first child in August, so each of these moments are more precious than ever!

Painting the exterior of your house! We tackled this project Memorial Day weekend.. and without taking the time to prep the house for paint (scraping, power-washing, caulking) it would not have come out nearly as good!
Worth the effort!

Taking the time to slow down and LISTEN. Whether it is listening to my spouse, friends, or even slowing down and listening to my students when they are speaking. Making sure that they know I care about them and what they have to say. It is easy to brush someone aside especially when you have so much to do in your own life.

i take my time in the mornings – piddling – often making myself late. otherwise i’m in a rush, rush. early mornings are the time for me before the rush. then in the evenings, i love sitting down with knitting – it calms me down and helps me unwind.

Painting — walls, not canvases — it’s soothing, looks better and I feel a connection to my (deceased) father who first had me painting at 4 — much to my mother’s dismay.

I love to make handknit items, like sweaters, socks, hats, etc. Making them out of luxury blends of yarn, like silk, cashmere, and the finest merino, makes me feel spoiled and taking the time to knit them myself makes me appreciate them even more :)

MARIGOLD ME! Romantic dinners are always best taken slow. A special dinner out….or IN….should be languished over with good food, good wine, and great company.

I find that with the “rush, rush, rush” of everyday (especially my 18-hour days), I like to really take it easy the moment I walk through the door at home. I take a deep breath when I turn off the car, sit for just a moment, and walk into my home refreshed. It winds me down quickly (important so I can get to sleep) and allows me to really treasure that 45 minutes per day I get to spend with my fiance. What a revelation!
**Thanks for bringing these into my world!

I have a need for speed :) But if I slow down it is usually because my speediness resulted in carelessness and I need to redo something… oops!
Stephanie says

Pretty much everything is better when you take things slow. For example, spending quality time with my loved ones is way better than just meeting them for a quick catch-up chat over coffee during lunch break and hurrying back to work afterwards.

I love this question – it’s so reflective!
As a teacher, I tend to get wrapped up in the fast-paced schedule of the day to day. But at home, I enjoy taking my time. Whether it be reading a good book, cooking/cleaning, etc.
Also, as a newlywed, I enjoyed taking my time writing out all of my thank-you notes. It was therapeutic for me to individually thank my loved ones, but it also brought me back to one of the best days of my life. In a day and age where the world is at our fingertips (literally! iPhones rock!) it’s always nice to breathe slowly and turn off the noise. :)

MARIGOLD ME!
I have always been really into ceramics but working with clay requires a LOT of patience which I don’t always have. There have been times where I just decide I have had enough with a piece and I throw it in the kiln but I always regret it later because I see little things I could have improved if I would have just worked slower and been more patient.

I hate to be rushed when I’m already running late…which is always, so in “a perfect world” I’d like to get up, get ready, change clothes five times and then leave the house at my own slow speed.
