We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?
And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…
…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.
And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).
So here’s the gist:
- PRIZE: Your choice of any tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

“MARIGOLD ME!” I like to take my time when it comes to cooking. Making food, including baby food, feels so pure when it is made from scratch.

I think gardens really benefit from a slow approach. Taking the time to see how a garden changes in different seasons, how the sun and shade move differently, moving plants here and there, gradually amending the soil. You can’t hurry nature. Pottering in the garden is just lovely.
I hardly ever enter give-aways, but those linens are incredible. MARIGOLD ME!

I don’t do it very often but when I do, I take my time making Sopaipillas from scratch. By the time I’ve finished there is enough to feed the entire neighbourhood but the rarity and time involved makes it an event!

I don’t like doing anything slow…I like to do everything fast! But if I have to take my time on something, I take a ton of breaks, so it doesn’t feel like it’s taking so long!

I definitely believe in slow food. Cooking is such a joy and it’s great to use your hands for something to make something healthy and delicious. Also eating slowly without any electronic distractions is great.

I definitely like to take my time washing the dishes… There’s no rush… and always make sure to dry the silverware, or they get spotty. Yes, my wife makes me do the dishes…. do I mind? Depends on the day, I guess.

I actually have this site saved in my email right now because their stuff is so gorgeous.
And my little parties – big or small – are always better when I’m slow, meticulous and actually work ahead of time. Why I don’t ever actually do that, I’m not sure.

I like to take my time hanging pictures: making sure I’ve got them grouped appropriately, taking the time to fill the nail holes as I take old prints down, etc. I’ve rushed in the past, and just ended up doing it over again when things don’t line up/aren’t level!

Marigold me! Baking definitely benefits from taking your time. You don’t want to leave out a crucial ingredient. And I always have to sit on my hands when painting something, be it the wall or a piece of furniture. I’m always so eager to see the finished result that I try to rush the second coat!
