We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?
And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…
…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.
And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).
So here’s the gist:
- PRIZE: Your choice of any tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I definitely believe that growing your own food, slowly and without chemical fertilizers, is better. Currently, I am six months pregnant and I feel so much better about feeding the good stuff to my little girl inside of me.

I love to take my time cleaning the house. I’m going to sound a little crazy here, but taking the time to dust the picture frames, floor boards, door tops…. those things you normally never think to do. Sometimes it is just nice to take the time to do those things. It’s like telling your house how much you love it.

I think conversations with my kids always go better when I take my time. Sometimes, with three kids and a lot to do, I wish they’d just “cut to the chase” when telling me about their day. The conversation goes deeper and my appreciation for them grows when I just take a deep breath, TAKE MY TIME, and really listen…

I like to take my time with a lot of things. I grew up to the saying “If you’re going to do something, you might as well do it right the first time.” (of course, it may be a curse now, Haha!) There are definitely recipes that need that extra time and big home improvements.

I think decorating your house should take time. When we got married we went out and bought furniture for every room in one day and now I hate all of it. I feel like what you have in your house should reflect who you are and not what was on sale that day. Lesson learned.

Reading is definately better when you slow down. I have also recently joined the slow food movement, I was shocked to learn that there are foods that are becoming extinct.
Kate says

Reading directions should not be done in a hurry. Disaster always results. Take your time!!! :)
Miranda says

Sometimes I have to reming myself, but trying to be slow with my children – not rushing out the door. Stopping FREQUENTLY on walks to pick up treasures, gaze at flowers and passing dogs. There is def a slow parenting movement out there, I don’t know too much about it, but I’m sure there are some valid points.
Kristin says

I take my time enjoying the spring and summer months because I love the endless days, the rebirth of everything, the colors in nature that inspire me when decorating! Nothing is better than taking time to get inspiration from the ocean, a lush peony, or the golden glow of the sky at dusk!

If I start the day in a rush then I rush about all day and wind up feeling frazzled by days end – I take it slow and steady in the morning and enjoy the little things. I take an extra couple of minutes in the shower to let the heat warm my muscles and wake me gently. Before starting my personal prep I sit down with my dog and then my cat and nuzzle and cuddle – if I get a gentle wake-up then my Anna deserves one too! (especially since she has to go out-side for her morning routine!!). Once I’m ready for work the three of us say goodbye and its one last tousle for each followed by a trick (from them) and a treat (all good tricks deserve one). I leave my house happy and calm, fully prepared to take on the office :)

Deciding on renos in a house is a good thing to do slowly. When we first moved into our place, we were going to dive right in to the renos. My dad said “Whoa, hold on! Live here for a couple of years…you’ll have a better idea of what you want!” He was sooooo right. 4 years later we are in the middle of our reno and it’s going slowly but surely since it’s a DIY project. But I’m pleased to report that I’m so glad we didn’t get started right away. So, let the ideas stew a little! You’ll be surprised at how many things change!

I think that the whole “put the kids to bed” routine is soooooo much better when I slow down, read them a chapter from a book and then sit at the edge of their bed and talk with each of them a bit.
You see- as kids get older, they don’t actually NEED you to help them get ready for bed like your little tiny one does now. When they are 8 and 11, they can take a shower, brush their teeth, get their PJs on and read in bed ALL BY THEMSELVES! Its kinda easy to let them do that and then just go in and say “night!, love you!” etc…and I do do that a lot, .but it is so lovely to sit with them at the end of the day and actually TALK to them!

I take my time with nearly everything it seems! It just seems to take me forever to get stuff done. It’s taken me two weeks to strip the paint off my back door. It took me a month to strip, prime, and paint a closet door. I’ve still got eight more doors to do! yikes! This whole house is going to take me a very long time to get accomplished.
