We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?
And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…
…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.
And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).
So here’s the gist:
- PRIZE: Your choice of any tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

The only thing I do slowly is wake up! But I think that certain dishes need to be cooked slowly (ie Saurbraten…can you tell I’m German?).

Take your time caring for your children, they need lots of love and patience not to be rushed to do everything.

I agree with Angie. Decorating your home should be an ongoing process. I just bought my first home, and I’m so desperate for it to look the way I want it to. But I’m trying to slow down and really choose ideas and pieces that I’m going to love for the long haul.

Marigold Me! Those linens are absolutely gorgeous.
I love to take my time knitting, especially when I use a soft, luxurious yarn. It is so meditative and calming.

Everything is better if you take the time to do it right. From prepping to paint, to slow cooking a roast. Quality vs. quantity, my friends.

Marigold ME! I want to slow life down! It is way too fast and we miss so much – relationships, beauty, quietness, books, great food….

Marigold Me, Please!
I take my sweet ol’ time folding laundry – normally because I’m watching a movie while folding (and while the wee one naps!) It’s a treat to fold laundry that way! :)

I take my time when going on walks. We live in a beautiful area and I take my kids out with me. It’s so much fun watching my daughters play around on our walks and discovering things in nature.

I love to wake up slow, especially in the summer, listening to the birds sing!

I think I take my time when I’m cleaning the house. I don’t take forever, but I don’t rush through everything and get all sweaty, because that just makes me hate it. I make it a day project (but try to avoid it getting that bad)

I love taking my time getting out of bed in the morning. Being awake but not jumping out from under the covers right away is a start to what’s going to be a good day.

Hm, taking my time is not my best thing, unless its in the kitchen. I can just get lost in the prepping and simmering standing at the stove. Comfort recipes like eggplant parm or beef stew are always best when they’ve been slowly and gently cooked.

I always like to take my time when writing a letter to a friend or family member. I am not the best writer as it is, so that extra time helps me to avoid mistakes as well as communicate what I am really trying to say. That being said, I am not looking forward to my wedding thank you notes!
Emily says
Marigold me! It doesn’t happen very frequently, but on the days I really take my time getting ready, I feel much more confident all day long!

I think most things are best when you take your time. Painting is one thing that comes to mind. Whether it’s furniture or walls, a rushed paint job never looks good. Concentrate & make it worth your while!

Even though I like putting food on the table quickly, I’m a big fan of having a long and luxurious meal at the table. You should never rush through eating good food and making good conversation…

I try to sew fast, but every time I do it, I end up riping the seams out and doing it again more slowly. For me, it’s always better to sew slowly. One of my good friends who is a fashion designed, however, would probably bop me over the head for saying that. She’s an excellent fast sewer!
Heather says
MARIGOLD ME!
I like to take as much time as possible going through the “nightly” routine….baths, bedtime stories, etc. They grow up so quickly, at least for those couple minutes at night, they can still cuddle and be my babies.

Baking a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting is something to take your time with. Once I rushed through it and it came out awful. Epic fail.

I find it is always better to take my time with sewing projects. If I try to skip a step or rush through a step it generally takes me 2X’s longer to complete because I end up ripping out stitches.
Melissa T says
“MARIGOLD ME!” I take my time waking up! I love to sit up for a minute then go “nah!” and plop back down on the pillow! I can only do this every once in a while!
Cheryl Smith says

Something that I think is always better when I take my time is playing the piano or violin. I’ve played piano since I was 8, but just started beginner violin lessons a few months ago (I’m 34!). I get such satisfaction out of taking the time to practice a piece slowly, then see my progress as I get the notes down, and can eventually play it at full speed. I don’t know if there’s anything more satisfying than that.
Jen says
MARIGOLD ME!
I get off the bus 3 stops early and I take my time walking home from work. I work a high-stress job at the Pentagon and that time spent walking allows me time to decompress before seeing my husband.

I take my time ironing. It’s not a task I enjoy, but I find if I try to do it fast, it’s sloppy and looks like I didn’t bother at all.

I like taking my time with my new three month old baby. I try to take everything slowly – changing, feeding, singing, chatting… and enjoy every minute.

Wow, these are beautiful! I think that attention to detail and taking your time is so important. Case in point – I finally finished designing my wedding invitations and coordinating items, which I STARTED about 3 months ago. I spent 8 hours between yesterday and today but I LOVE them and can’t wait to print and send them all out!
