We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?
And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…
…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.
And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).
So here’s the gist:
- PRIZE: Your choice of any tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I like taking my time when sorting through old photographs. There are so many memories tied to each one, it’s nice now and then to savor them.

MARIGOLD ME!!! I don’t normally do anything slowly, I’m wired to the bone. But yesterday I meandered around our property, drinking in all of the colored beauty, telling God He better have plants in heaven. Summer’s are short lived here, just three weeks ago I was pounding snow off my trees and shrubs.

MARIGOLD ME
I like to take my time with lots of things…cleaning, cooking, and DIY projects. I think taking your time and doing it right the first time always gives the best result. Although, I don’t always have time to do so…and my fiance is the total opposite (rush, rush, rush)!

MARIGOLD ME!
I think meals are so much better when they are eaten slowly. So often I find myself rushing through lunch or dinner just to move on to the next task. But sitting and enjoying a meal with family, taking your time, is so much better.

MARIGOLD ME!
I tend to be a slow eater, I’d much rather sit and enjoy my food then rush through it like it’s a race. I also take my time with art projects, making decisions, packing… okay I guess I’m just slow. However, when it comes to walking – get out of my way slow walkers! :P
Kristi says
MARIGOLD ME!
I think about the only time I slow down each day is around 9:00 at night. That’s my time to watch TV, read a book, take a bath and just relax from the day’s activities.
Ruth Anne says
Marigold Me!
As a mother of 3 small children, my life is rush, rush, rush and busy, busy, busy. So for me, the thing I love to do to slow things down is read a book and drink some coffee. Uninterrupted. Without skimming. Or spilling my coffee. Bliss!

I’ve always been a fan of building things by hand manually … not automatic nailer for me … I want to have to swing that hammer! Which is good … because if I win this, it is going in my yet-to-be-built cabin in Maine! Perfect!!

I think everyone needs to slow down and enjoy the little things in life; cooking dinner with your spouse, spending time with friends. There are things that just don’t need to be rushed. Grocery shopping on the other hand… get in and get out… thats my motto!! :)

Jessica J says
MARIGOLD ME!! This sounds dorky but I feel a million times better when I take my time cleaning and organizing my house. When I do those quick “white tornado” cleanings for unexpected company I feel like I’ve just trashed my house more b/c I know I’ll find things in drawers and closets that don’t belong there. When I can sit and sort through my stuff and really give it the attention it deserves, I feel a million times more efficient ironically enough.

I like to decorate rooms slowly. I find that if I go out and buy a ton of things at once it looks too matchy-matchy, but if I envision what I want and collect things over time it gives it just the right feel.

MARIGOLD ME! I like to take my time…sleeping. And that’s pretty much the only thing I linger over. Anything else that’s worth savoring is too good to wait to do/consume. I’m Italian. I’m impatient.

MARIGOLD ME! :D
I’m a costume designer and seamstress, so I spend a lot time sewing FAST because of the volume I have to sew. It’s fantastic when I get to slow down for a really fantastic hand beaded embellishment, or to a wire a sparkly crown. Like therapy, but cheaper (kind of). :D

Marigold me!!!!
I am slowing down when my baby naps. She barely sleeps in her crib during the day (luckily she does great at night). I was getting so stressed to get her sleeping well (without crying it out) for naps so that I would have a chance to get stuff done). I hold her for naps. She sleeps better, and when I chill out and slow down… I really enjoy the down time too! I can clean and blog when she goes to bed :-)
