We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?
And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…
…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.
And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).
So here’s the gist:
- PRIZE: Your choice of any tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I like to take time scouring my bathroom. Taking the extra time to wipe away spilt makeup, hairspray residue, and toothpaste streaks (left over by the hubby)from my counters is gratifying. Then scrubbing my shower and bath until it shines just makes a girl feel good.

I recently read an article about how we should take time to slow down and think about everything we do. In this fast paced world we live in, we often do things mindlessly. So I started paying attention to everything I do, even cleaning! and I have been finding meaning in the little things. I find my time is more pleasantly spent when doing things this way.

With two young kids there is a lot to get done during the day (i.e. it’s fast-paced around here!) so I’m a huge fan of my slow-cooker!

MARIGOLD ME!!!!!
I love eating slowly. We are big fans of good food in our family and we love sitting around the table, sharing food, talking, and laughing. I’ve found that having kids has made me eat quickly so we can trade off babies or get dishes washed. I’m sure eating slowly is healthier but it’s also nice to actually ENJOY food! In fact, one of our favorite things to eat is Indian food and our favorite Indian restaurant is called Taste of India! Perfect blog post title!

I take my time cooking meals with my fiance. It only takes 20 minutes to eat the lovely meal we’ve prepared, but the process of creating it together over the course of a couple hours is as important as the tasty rewards of our work.

I like to take my time when cleaning/decluttering. It’s faster to just shove everything in the closet, but better if you slow down and figure out what you can get rid of.

I like to take my time when doing graphic design. I design custom invitations, greeting cards, stationery and more. I love when people understand that design is a process and, that I don’t just create things in 30 seconds! I hand-draw all of my graphics, and yes this takes time! No Clip-art for me!
Thanks for the chance to win these gorgeous items!

Walks. On Sunday morning we took a nice, leisurely walk down the beach. It was about 7 am and noone but locals and surfers were out. It was dreamy and I reminded myself to slow down and take it all in more often.

As a mom of five I’m not opposed to shortcuts. But while a trip through the drive-thru is a nice occasional addition to the menu, I find that when I plan out a meal and cook it slowly, maybe enjoying a glass of wine and a chat with my husband, a friend, or my kids while I do, it’s ultimately so much more satisfying than tossing a paper sack on the table.

Sometimes I think the whole bedtime ritual is best done slowly… both for kids and grown-ups. Think of how relaxed and chill you are after a nice bath, maybe some lotion, fresh sheets, an article or two from your favourite magazine… It’s way better than suddenly realizing the time, and rushing into whatever pj’s are on top of the pile and straight into bed.

Its so much better when I take my time reading a book, instead of just flying through it trying to get to the end. I’m all about learning this process of really marinating in the words. :)

Since I had hip surgery in April I’ve had to take just about everything A LOT slower than my normal fast pace. So I decided that maybe I’d embrace this and just start to think of it as taking everything in life slower and more deliberate and living more for the moments than the end results.
Christina says
MARIGOLD ME!
I think that cooking is something that should be done slowly and enjoyed. I recently had a mini family reunion at our home. I cooked for a solid 3 days (with help) but the main meals I did make.
When I looked at my large family table with everyone sitting around it catching up playing board games and heading into a food coma. I knew that was my purpose for this family to give them all a meal that they could enjoy.
You could just feel the love….oh and a little Beatles Rockband didn’t hurt!

(I’m kind of majorly in love with that lavender-print runner…)
I love to sew mindfully. I’m still not *slow* about it (when you do it for decades, you get fast, regardless!), but I like being mindful, and enjoying the process as well as the result. It takes a functional activity, and raises it to a satisfying, creative time. My one trick: turn off the clocks–just put them away! When I’m not watching the clock, I enjoy even short bits of time so much more.

MARIGOLD ME
My day always goes 100% better when I take the time to really relish my time with our kids in the morning. If I rush around (when it’s convenient for me) in the morning doing my “daily chores” while saying,”in a minute” when my son is holding up a book to read for example, the rest of my day somehow suffers. Call it freaky Murphy’s Law or the Martha vs. Mary syndrome playing out…who knows—it’s just better when I stop and play first and clean later.
Lavina Dee says
Marigold me! I tend to slow down and try to savor the things I really enjoy like reading a good book, baking or hiking.

Marigold Me!
I think that taking it slow while getting ready in the morning always makes things better. Even though it means getting up earlier, whenever I can linger with a cup of coffee in the morning, I am happier all day.
