We’d heard of the “slow food movement” before, but not the “slow clothes movement” – until this week’s giveaway sponsor reached out to us. Saffron Marigold creates luxury Indian linens, and they make each tablecloth, bedspread, curtain and pillow cover very meticulously (both to safeguard traditional techniques and deliver a high quality finished product). Just think, all of these patterns have been meticulously hand-printed inch-by-inch using traditional woodblock techniques in Saffron Marigold’s Indian artisan studios. Pretty fantastic, eh?
And this week TWO of you are going to have a chance to enjoy TWO pieces of these slowly and beautifully made linens in your home. Each winner will get their choice of a lovely tablecloth or table runner…
…and their choice of a gorgeous and graphic cushion cover.
And while you’re over on their site browsing their stunning designs, be sure to check out the photo slideshow of their time-intensive process which details how they create all the unbelievably intricate patterns. It will truly give you an appreciation for the craftsmanship that went into these prizes. And you’ll also soon get to appreciate a sweet discount they’re dishing out (stay tuned for those details on Thursday).
So here’s the gist:
- PRIZE: Your choice of any tablecloth or table runner from Saffron Marigold, plus one cushion cover.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “MARIGOLD ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us something that you feel is always better when you take your time. Maybe you agree with the slow food or slow clothes movement? Or you prefer to give lots of time to painting or a DIY project? Perhaps you’re just a slow and very careful driver?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 9nd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the WORLD!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

MARIGOLD ME!
We take our time on Sundays. No schedules or watches…we just take our time doing whatever it is we want to do, whether it’s cruisin’ the swap meet with a coffee or making a big dinner, planting new flowers or just staying in sweatpants watching bad movies all day!

MARIGOLD ME!”I think that when you take your time in making a quilt or clothing be it for kids or adults that taking your time is very important when making a quilt you will have less seam riping which if your a quilter you know exactly what I saying. The end result is wonderful. Making clothes shows if you dont take your time at least Ii think so. The sleeves around the neck. Taking your time also means that you can add your special touchs as well. Thank you for your blog its refreshing. First time here over from knockoff wood.

We should really take more time for everything we do. We rush through too much stuff.

I like to take my time getting moving in the morning! I like to take my time having breakfast and allow myself to slowly wake up even if it means getting up earlier. I am much less stressed when I start the day off this way!
Amanda says
MARIGOLD ME!! I take my time doing craft projects, whether its for birthday parties or whatever where I know a lot of people will be looking at it. I’m too prideful to be quick and messy with something. And I get so stressed out if I wait too long to start it that I actually lose sleep.

I take my time with my crafts and my art. Especially when I paint, I need some time away so that when I go back to it, I can strengthen my vision-to-canvas.

Painting furniture that I build. I hate painting (I love building), but I hate the unfinished look that not taking my time creates!

I love taking the time to make food from scratch. Whether it is cake, bread, cheese… it always is more rewarding to know you made it yourself. I also find it a great stress relief. You cannot force the food to go faser – you are forced to slow down and enjoy the process.

I am a stay-at-home mom, and though this sounds awful, I have to remind myself to slow down and play with my daughter. Too often, I find myself rusing around maintaining the household. It’s hard to take a break when there are million things to be done. So, we have a scheduled play time everyday!

MARIGOLD ME! These fabrics are my absolute favourite style of fabric. I have one duvet cover and one bedspread in this style, but both are very old and unfortunately faded from love and use, and work perfectly as picnic blankets in Summer. I think food is better slow – slow cooked! I love my slow cooker – easy recipes that cook all day while I’m at work and taste amazing when I get home.

I love to take time getting up on Saturday mornings…you know, just lay awake in bed for a few minutes before getting up. I know that I need to be appreciative of that time now, because I won’t have it once kidos are in the picture. :)

MARIGOLD ME!!! :D
I am a pretty fast paced person and I like to get things done quickly, but there is one thing that I always do slowly and that is shopping. When you walk into Marshalls or a Homegoods store you can’t just go for a few minutes, you have to sort through things and look in every nick and cranny. I am afraid that i will miss something fantastic if i rush myself SO when it’s shopping time I make sure to clear out my entire afternoon and evening so I can have a sufficient shopping experience. haha

We just painted the wood paneling in our living room(read your How-To many many times beforehand- definitely took more than an afternoon lemme tell ya) and I think updating our new house should be a nice slow process.
P.S. I love those fabrics and that is such a cool thing making it all hand-made using traditional techniques… I think I might have to send out an email to a few ppl with a link to that site.

UNBELIEVABLE! I am in AWE of the beauty of these linens! Some times–most of the time–taking your time on something really does “pay off”. My family and I always take our time on Saturday mornings. We have “big breakfast saturdays”. My husband cooks eggs and bacon, and I make pancakes or muffins from scratch. I usually throw in a batch of homemade cinnamon rolls and top them with homemade frosting while they are still warm. Favorite! We have coffee and juice while sitting at the island listening to the kids talk about their ideas for the day. It is a relaxing way to welcome the weekend. It is a fantastic way to start our day, and we usually aren’t hungry again ’til dinner time! :)

When my mom was teaching me to sew, she always said over and over again that taking it slow and doing it right (which often meant more work) would always pay off with a better end result. I always try to remember that when taking on new sewing projects.

Hanging! Anytime I have ever rushed through any sort of hanging project, be it pictures, mirrors, curtains, you name it, it’s always so clear that I did so. I need to reign in more patience, because whenever I take the time to measure & mark, everything ends up look much more balanced and polished.

I take my time cooking dinner — I cook dinner at least 4 nights a week, and everything from scratch. It’s therapy for me, cheaper than going out to eat (plus usually tastes better!), and way healthier than eating out of a bag/can/box.
