We often daydream about having the iconic white Christmas here in Virginia (which is extremely rare in these parts) but after this weekend’s crazy snowstorm it looks like we might actually have one. Or at least a whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week Christmas.
But as of today we think you’ll be dreaming of a holiday with a bit more color thanks to Glidden. So yes, as Sunny, Lacey, Travis and Nicole guessed at the end of last week’s giveaway, this week’s prize of “one of our all time favorite items” is indeed paint. In fact, Glidden’s got a gallon for a handful of you in your choice of color and finish so there’s plenty to go around.
And if we haven’t already made it abundantly clear in over two years of blogging: we love Glidden’s colors. From Gentle Tide in our bedroom and kitchen to Sand White in our living room and guest bedroom, we’ve got Glidden’s fantastic hues on almost every wall of our house. And even though we’re sad that some of those colors didn’t make the cut when Glidden revamped their line earlier this year, we totally dig how user-friendly the new lineup of colors are (they even suggest complementary accent hues on the back of each paint swatch). Plus you can easily browse inspiration rooms and coordinating color schemes both in-store and on their web site and they offer tester bottles with built-in brushes for every color. It doesn’t get much more convenient that that.
But enough jabbering. It’s time for the entry details:
- PRIZE: Each winner will receive a voucher to be redeemed at their neighborhood Home Depot for one gallon of Glidden paint in any color and finish of their choice.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CAN ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what colors are getting you into the holiday spirit this season. Is it the traditional red and green pairing? Unconventional schemes like lavender and silver? Or do you really just have your heart set on that white Christmas concept?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 23rd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: FIVE!
- PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I’m always a fan of a white Christmas, although as you mentioned, it rarely happens–even living in PA. I’m partial to blue, green, & silver. But then again I like pretty much anything that is bright—and also sparkly. :)
Dagny says
CAN ME! I love a classic red and white Christmas myself. Sparkly, glittery white with bright cherry red just screams “holidays” to me.
Bridget says

Ashley Crawford says
CAN ME [pretty please!]
My favorite Christmas color scheme is very modern – gray, white, silver and an bright accent color [like purple, yellow, or a bright blue]. I’d never be able to pull it off with my pretty traditional red-and-green-thinking boyfriend.
As I type this I literally have paint samples taped all over in our bedroom because I am trying to decide on a good light neutral color [going for a tan, white, black and sea foam scheme]. I’m also going to tackle our living room with a new color in the spring to cover up the fake stucco light blue color we have now; thanks landlord, great idea with the interior texture. Not. *sigh* :)
Andrea Worley says
CAN ME,
I’m really loving neutrals like burlap, and rustic patterns for wrapping with hints of shimmer like golds!

Christmas to me is every-which color. Multi-colored, multi-sized bulbs on the Christmas tree, color-uncoordinated snowmen, flourescent sugar cookies, sparkles in your eyes from all the egg nog and champagne…

I love dark green, pink and white for the holidays.
Holly says

My x-mas mood is filled with warm neutrals. They make me want to snuggle up under a nice chocolate throw, while looking at the white lights bedecked Christmas tree and basking in the candlelight (I’m a nut about candles for Christmas and put out about 200 white ones every year!).

donna @ dh-designs says
Darn – can’t me :)! Being your northerly neighbour, I’m not able to participate :(.
But I did want to comment on the arrival of your snow. Happy for you, but as exciting it is to have snow arrive for Christmas, you may think differently if it arrived somewhat earlier and stayed much longer {sigh} I was so born at the wrong latitude …
Merry Christmas!!!
Sam G says
CAN ME, pretty please!
I still like red and white at christmas, but with a bright green (think lime popsicle) thrown in.
Julia says
CAN ME! I love only white lights they make me happy–sparkily on the tree. I get so excited about multicolored ornaments, they just make me smile on the tree, all of the memories.
Katie says
Can Me! I went with the more traditional red and gold. Not my normal Christmas theme, but I had a lot of red wrapping paper left over from years past -I didn’t want to waste more money on paper, so I used that up and decided to keep the theme going. I pulled out just the red and gold ornaments and added small gold touches throughout the house. I didn’t spend a penny on any Christmas decor this year- I think that’s a first!
Marty says
CAN ME!
Michelle says
Can me…thinking of a new color for a little one’s room.
Meagan says
“CAN ME” Being from the sunshine state we really try to bring in the white Christmas feel. Everything is silver and white with pops of red and green. We have to try to get in the holiday spirit as much as we can when temps are still in the 70’s on Christmas morning. Enjoy the snow! :o)
Tawny says
CAN ME! I love painting!!
The theme of our Christmas is White Fluffy Snow! We are heading to Utah on Christmas day for 8 days of glorious powder on the ski slopes!
Melo says
Can me!
Besides the red and gold on the christmas tree and the other house decor, we are feeling that white flatters best the holiday season of 2009.
Maybe it is because of the [many, many inches of] snow… Or maybe I am just wishing for a sandy caribbean Christmas (Hint: Glidden Sand White…)
Sherri says
CAN ME!!! for the tree i like simple white
lights, but for wrapping paper i’ve done a
lot of metallic silver with a bright blue and
pink and green. i found some clearance paper
at target last year with these colors and
they really just brighten things up!
