We often daydream about having the iconic white Christmas here in Virginia (which is extremely rare in these parts) but after this weekend’s crazy snowstorm it looks like we might actually have one. Or at least a whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week Christmas.
But as of today we think you’ll be dreaming of a holiday with a bit more color thanks to Glidden. So yes, as Sunny, Lacey, Travis and Nicole guessed at the end of last week’s giveaway, this week’s prize of “one of our all time favorite items” is indeed paint. In fact, Glidden’s got a gallon for a handful of you in your choice of color and finish so there’s plenty to go around.
And if we haven’t already made it abundantly clear in over two years of blogging: we love Glidden’s colors. From Gentle Tide in our bedroom and kitchen to Sand White in our living room and guest bedroom, we’ve got Glidden’s fantastic hues on almost every wall of our house. And even though we’re sad that some of those colors didn’t make the cut when Glidden revamped their line earlier this year, we totally dig how user-friendly the new lineup of colors are (they even suggest complementary accent hues on the back of each paint swatch). Plus you can easily browse inspiration rooms and coordinating color schemes both in-store and on their web site and they offer tester bottles with built-in brushes for every color. It doesn’t get much more convenient that that.
But enough jabbering. It’s time for the entry details:
- PRIZE: Each winner will receive a voucher to be redeemed at their neighborhood Home Depot for one gallon of Glidden paint in any color and finish of their choice.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CAN ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what colors are getting you into the holiday spirit this season. Is it the traditional red and green pairing? Unconventional schemes like lavender and silver? Or do you really just have your heart set on that white Christmas concept?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 23rd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: FIVE!
- PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

It’s definitely “green” this year, both in color and eco-friendly theme. We’ve got evergreens, cuttings from our yard, and no new ornaments, just hand-me-downs from family.

As this is my very first year decorating for christmas I got to pick anything I wanted. I went with gold and silver with touches of red and green. I love it (and the dollar store were I got most of it).
Can’t wait to build my collection over the years…my mom has so many bins of decorations she has collected over the past 30 years!!

Latest color thought I had relating to Christmas decor was the tree. With renovating I decided to put my craigslist tree in the breezeway out of harm and dusts way. But, lights are low inventory this far along in the season this year, I guess retailers cut back. I had trouble finding any last week and the week before, but I hear they got more shipments since then. So, since I couldn’t get enough white I got some blue to add in with them. 400 white and 200 blue. So this year, for my tree at least, it’s white lights with a little blue. I’m only doing lights and fake snow(favorite thing ever) this year do to renovating and it looks good! I’m not much for colored lights usually only white unless they are the old fashioned big light bulbs but I do think I like it. That said this $20 craigslist tree is so huge, the biggest tree I’ve ever had, it’s beautiful, but for my normal(very particular about this) lighting of every little branch I’d need way more lights than I had, so I had to skimp and kind of just circle around the tree(hate that), but next year I’ll have more strings of lights.
Otherwise I’m traditional greenery, and traditonal colors and maybe some vintage decor or stuff that looks vintage if I can find it. Sometimes one tree or area can have a theme color, which is usually a blue I guess knowing me, but not normally blue lights!

This is wonderful. One of my winter break projects is painting! Our living room is a green and our dining room is a deep brown, so this year we went with natural colors accented by reds and a little silver here and there.

We’re all about Silver with lots of clear glass and splashes of classic holiday red! Although, I’m kind of drawn to some of the really bright color combos (pink, turquoise, lime green, etc.)No way in heck the hubs will go for it though…

Its red and gold at our christmas this year. This is the first year we didnt just put up all the ornaments but focused on a significant color scheme. Next year I’m thinking we may have to change it up and go blue/green/silver.

Sunny southern California has no such thing as a white Christmas, which is probably why I have been into ivory and berry colors with some steely gray additions here and there this year.
Even if it’s whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week, I can’t wait to see it when I get into Richmond later this week! :)
