We often daydream about having the iconic white Christmas here in Virginia (which is extremely rare in these parts) but after this weekend’s crazy snowstorm it looks like we might actually have one. Or at least a whatever-color-you-call-half-melted-dirty-snow-that-hangs-around-for-a-week Christmas.
But as of today we think you’ll be dreaming of a holiday with a bit more color thanks to Glidden. So yes, as Sunny, Lacey, Travis and Nicole guessed at the end of last week’s giveaway, this week’s prize of “one of our all time favorite items” is indeed paint. In fact, Glidden’s got a gallon for a handful of you in your choice of color and finish so there’s plenty to go around.
And if we haven’t already made it abundantly clear in over two years of blogging: we love Glidden’s colors. From Gentle Tide in our bedroom and kitchen to Sand White in our living room and guest bedroom, we’ve got Glidden’s fantastic hues on almost every wall of our house. And even though we’re sad that some of those colors didn’t make the cut when Glidden revamped their line earlier this year, we totally dig how user-friendly the new lineup of colors are (they even suggest complementary accent hues on the back of each paint swatch). Plus you can easily browse inspiration rooms and coordinating color schemes both in-store and on their web site and they offer tester bottles with built-in brushes for every color. It doesn’t get much more convenient that that.
But enough jabbering. It’s time for the entry details:
- PRIZE: Each winner will receive a voucher to be redeemed at their neighborhood Home Depot for one gallon of Glidden paint in any color and finish of their choice.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CAN ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what colors are getting you into the holiday spirit this season. Is it the traditional red and green pairing? Unconventional schemes like lavender and silver? Or do you really just have your heart set on that white Christmas concept?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 23rd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: FIVE!
- PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

for my colors this year, we’re going for ivory, sage green, a touch of silver (metal things) and that really pretty deep cranberry-ish red – not the orangey kind.

I’m loving blue + silver for this year. All of our wrapping paper + gift tags coordinate, and I’ve set up several punch bowls/cake stands with blue + silver ornaments. They fit in nicely with the 24″ of snow we got this weekend!

Our walls need help, so this would be perfect! We are still doing the silver and white. It is in forms of pearly, glittery, snowy, and diamond. This is the first year, I was able to put out these silver glittery reindeer I found last year at Kohls. They were regularly $50 each and I got them for $5! Score!”

I am kind of doing multiple options. Upstairs I’m using the traditional red but making it a little younger with some gold and orange. But in my basement I have a TON of silver ornaments thrown in where ever you look.

I go to my parents house for a week for Christmas (heading there tomorrow!), and they always have a gorgeous traditional red/green/gold theme. So since I get to experience the traditional Christmas colors, I like to do more unconventional colors for my apartment. This year I am all about eggplant and light gray. I love the dark warm purple with the light gray, and paired with silver, makes it surprisingly Christmas-y!

We didn’t do much for holiday decorating this year – just moved into a new house and the budget is a tad tight with buying presents and the new-house-necessities (fridge, w/d, etc.) But I have been in love with the lime green ornaments that have been popping up in stores this year and had visions of a silver, white and lime green tree!
Gen M. says

I recently got a new mirrored chest so I was inspired this year with the whites and silvers for the holidays.
Becky says
CAN ME!
We went with classic Christmas colors – silver, white and a touch of red! Growing up we always used colored lights on the tree, but now that I get to decorate my own tree, it’s white lights for sure. It looks so elegant.

Oh, I dream of a White Christmas but living in the deep South means it won’t happen (Birmingham, Alabama area). That said, I have used the same colors the last couple of years in the dining room and living room. I have a lot of brown, so added a bright green (almost lime or apple green) glittery decorations as well as some bright orange and lots of white. My tree is out in the sunroom and it has the old, meaningful ornaments so it is primarily the reds and greens.

I’m all about the reds and silvers this year. Especially metallic and sparkly ones. We already have reds in our dining room and throughout the house, so I’m glamming it up a notch by hanging red and silver ornaments from our dining room chandelier, and filling our hurricane vases on the mantle with red and silver ornaments.
We are finishing our basement and I am actually in need of a gallon of paint. Glidden no less! It is Navajo Sand. Nice neutral and light color.
