This next giveaway came to us as a nursery-themed giveaway, but personally we think Numsi‘s uniquely mod art is suitable for walls of any age. Their contemporary patterns (or custom text) is printed on canvas and then mounted on a 2″ deep birch museum frame to give it some modern dimension and bring some pop to you art collection.
Plus, since the deep birch plywood cradle makes these blocks of art so sturdy, they can hang on the wall, sit on a shelf or anchor your latest mantlescape. So have some fun browsing their collection of animals and vehicles or patterns and text, because one of you is taking away a $100 credit towards anything on Numsi’s site this week (and the rest of you are taking away a sweet discount).
Here’s how to enter this week:
- PRIZE: $100 towards anything from Numsi.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLOCK ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … since we’re referencing writer’s block, why not share a tip that you use to overcome any creativity or productivity block. Do you go someplace special to help you focus? Got an mental exercise to get your juice flowing again? Or do just go do something else and hope the motivation finds you again later.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 19th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

When it’s writer’s or productivity block, I tend to pace around the room…a lot…I suppose it helps with blood flow!
If it’s creativity that I’m challenged by, I usually do something different for awhile–play a few fun tunes on the piano, look through magazines, etc.

When I can I like to bounce ideas off someone else that’s also in the business. Sometimes just telling someone your ideas helps you to form them better.
Mike Allen says

To get the juices flowing, I like to crack open a bottle of wine. Do a little tasting exercise to get the right half of your brain awake and you are good to go. Plus scribbling down ideas on a sheet of paper works as well.

I head to the beach with a spiral notebook. Something about the crashing waves and being writing on paper instead of punching keys really gets my creative juices flowing.

I learned a trick in college that includes making a list of words. Basically any word that comes to mind, just keep your pen (or pencil) moving. It worked for me that thoughts started popping in my mind and would appear on paper that I had no idea where they came from. Then use those key words to get the motivation you need.

If I’m having a moment of absentee inspiration, I simply walk away from what I’m doing, play a little Ella Fitzgerald and chill out. It’s amazing how taking the pressure off by walking away will open up the creativity!

The fastest way for me to get rid of writer’s block is to do something else – usually, that starts with a bathroom & snack break, then a conversation with my husband or another friend. Hopefully by then, the inspiration will have returned!

I take the advice of a wise professor I had: “put butt in chair and write.” It doesn’t matter what you write- to-do list, grocery list, worries, etc- because eventually the writing you need to get done will start flowing out.
