This next giveaway came to us as a nursery-themed giveaway, but personally we think Numsi‘s uniquely mod art is suitable for walls of any age. Their contemporary patterns (or custom text) is printed on canvas and then mounted on a 2″ deep birch museum frame to give it some modern dimension and bring some pop to you art collection.
Plus, since the deep birch plywood cradle makes these blocks of art so sturdy, they can hang on the wall, sit on a shelf or anchor your latest mantlescape. So have some fun browsing their collection of animals and vehicles or patterns and text, because one of you is taking away a $100 credit towards anything on Numsi’s site this week (and the rest of you are taking away a sweet discount).
Here’s how to enter this week:
- PRIZE: $100 towards anything from Numsi.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLOCK ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … since we’re referencing writer’s block, why not share a tip that you use to overcome any creativity or productivity block. Do you go someplace special to help you focus? Got an mental exercise to get your juice flowing again? Or do just go do something else and hope the motivation finds you again later.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 19th at 8pm EST

BLOCK ME!
If I’m feeling stumped while designing I turn up some music and browse magazines or blogs to see what others are doing. If I’m writing up a paper I like to re-read what I’ve written and read it aloud to my husband. Usually if I’m blocked it’s because I’ve taken a wrong turn in my writing and it is sending me off in the wrong direction and reading aloud helps me find where I’ve gone wrong.

BLOCK ME!!!
So weird, my fiance and I have both been experiencing massive writer’s block lately! I do other, mundane stuff until the urge hits me. Can’t force these things, after all. :-)
Kristin says
Block Me
I go for a run at the gym, which is normally accompained with watching HGTV, TLC, or Food Network to get the creative juices going again.
Isaac says

– I always go for a walk.
Kelly says
BLOCK ME!
Reading poetry before bed, sleeping on it, and tackling the problem anew the next day often helps.
Melissa says
BLOCK ME
I have my own special version of creativity block going on right now as I am in the early stages of designing a poster. I am currently watching old episodes of SNL though I don’t know if it is more for my own amusement than to get the creative juices flowing, though the latter is a convenient excuse.
Amanda says
BLOCK ME!
I try to sleep. Inevitably, the minute I try to turn off my brain, it goes bonkers.
Melissa says
Block me!
For writer’s block as a college journalist, I often took a break and worked my body at the gym, in order to get my mind a bit clearer. Zoning out while running on a treadmill always helped me get back into the swing of things.
jacqueline says
BLOCK ME!
Leaving town and seeing a new environment is always a refreshing way to get my brain working again :)
May says
Block Me!
-I try reading something interesting and well written to spark the creative juices. Or write whatever comes to mind until I can refine it better.
Dayna says
BLOCK ME!!
I usually procrastinate until I absolutely need to get it done. Somehow the pressure of the timeline helps to keep things flowing. A nice long run sometimes helps as well.
Mrs Soup says
BLOCK ME!!
And I usually will go to one of my favorite blogs (yours included) and follow links. Either ads or blogroll or commenters or something. Find some new inspiration in the line of creativeness I’m trying to achieve and enjoy! I’m usually itching to go with an idea fairly quickly!
Brittany Gegan says
Block Me!!
I don’t always feel like painting, but if I need to paint and am not in the mood I can usually put music on and it inspires me or puts me in a mood to paint!
Michelle says
Block Me!
If it’s during the day, I try to start a different project. Something like painting or scrapbooking or something that requires some mild concentration. It helps “distract” me enough to let me figure out what I am looking for. However, if it’s a remotely acceptable time to sleep, I go to bed and set the alarm for some rediculous hour (2, 3 or 4 o’clock) and begin again in the morning. I don’t know if it’s the added rest or the benifit of it being the first thing I think about, but I work much better at really early hours.
Meg says
BLOCK ME
I’m a graphic designer so I’m constantly faced with creative block. I like to flip through magazines, visit design blogs and get out of the office for a bit. Sometimes a change of scenery can do a world of good!

A change of scene and time always do it for me:)

Block Me! Solution: good music and good wine;-)
Krystal says
BLOCK ME!
If I have a really bad writer’s block without a deadline, I just sleep on it. Usually, the block is gone in the morning. However, I have a much more interesting method when there’s a deadline hanging over my head. For every sentence that I finish and am satisfied with, I reward myself with a Skittle (though sometimes I exchange the sentences for paragraphs and the Skittles for fun-sized candy bars).
Mary-Kathryn Fout says

Strange but true, I tend to clean when I’m having writers’ block…so that I’m at least accomplishing something while waiting for creativity to strike :)

I think that practice and repetition help block the block. Sometimes you just have to write something/doodle something/paint something. Even if it isn’t the best… it’ll get the juices flowin’.

I am in public relations and so I write often. I always have to go to the board room in my office to write. For some reason, sitting at my desk gives me writers block! But once I am in the board room, I can whip up a feature article in no time!
Jen P says
BLOCK ME!
I drink a few cups of coffee and do laundry. The energy from the caffeine + the dullness of a chore always gets my creativity going!
Catherine says
BLOCK ME!
My best writer’s block relief tip is to just write. Even if you’re not writing “on topic” and you’re just freewriting and writing your grocery list, putting words on paper (or computer screen as the case may be) helps get the juices flowing. Just getting started tends to be the hardest part for me.
traci says
BLOCK ME
Deep breathing and a good night’s sleep usually help cure writer’s block for me…. and, if that doens’t do the trick, a advice from my three-year-old will always get the juices flowing.

Go for a drive. As odd as it sounds, as soon as my body is put into motion my brain gets put into motion, too.
Mandy says

I just have to take a break until I’m feeling creative again (or the deadline is near and procrastinating is no longer an option)!
Jenny says
“BLOCK ME” – Headphones, a comfy chair, and then I would force myself to write something – anything – and sit there for a long tme til I did. Usually I’d end up deleting what I first wrote, but often it helped me get back into the flow.
