And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!
If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.
- PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
- ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My two best friends, Paige and Chelsea are coming to visit me in Charlotte, NC in a week and I couldn’t be more excited. We’ve seen each other through everything from kindergarten to all of our weddings. We grew up together in Indiana, so I’m excited to have them visit me in my new home :)

BYOF ME!
I’ve known my bestie Sarah since we were in 5th grade — we lived in the same small town (500 people kinda small), and instantly clicked, even though we’re exact opposites. Now we live a few hours apart, but still catch up as much as we can. And I know we’d both love a little Ikea sprucing up in our homes!

My best friend is my husband. We met at a bar. I noticed him because he was wearing a hoodie of a band I like. We struck up a conversation about music and soon became great friends and eventually a couple.
Erin says
BYOF ME! My hubs is my BFF, but if he can’t count, I’d have to say both of my sister-in-laws are my other BFFs. I’m not sure what we bonded over because we’re all so different, but they are the best gals I know!

BYOF ME!! I met my best friend back in my senior year of high school. We were both involved in the bowling program in our city. Yes…bowling. We have now be best buds for over 15 years. One of the things that amazes me about our friendship is that even though we lived pretty far from each other for a few years when we would come back together it was like we still lived right next door to each other. We still have the same goofy inside jokes and the laughter never ends.

BYOF ME!! I’m so lucky…I have a BFF in every port it seems. ;) Somehow I’ve been blessed with amazing friends and it would be hard to call just one my BFF. I’ve met them at different stages of my life – college, living in NYC and Denver, I’m sure there’s more to come. Hooray for BFFs!

I met my best friend my freshman year of college – we actually became roommates our second semester. Living together was a bit of an “Odd Couple” relationship; I was the Felix to her Oscar. Case in point: the milk she left in our fridge over spring break! :)

My BFF is Jessica. We met when I was 6, and she was 5. We lived across the street from each other for 12 years before we went off to different colleges. This summer, after 10 years apart, we will both be living in the same city! Oh yeah, we discuss YHL on every phone call AND I bought her your book for Christmas. I think we were planning to make the 6 hour trip to Ikea this summer anyway, so the gift cards would be icing on the cake!

My best friend lives across the state from me now, but we are still the FIRST people we call with any big news. Since our high school days when the stars first aligned and we became friends, we have always enjoyed ministering togeher–having started by doing our HS FCA. Marriage and 4 babies between the two of us, I’m proud to say that we STILL got it goin’ on! :)

BYOF me!!
My BFF (otherwise known as my hubs) met 5 years ago when he was the manager of the retail store we both worked at. No real nicknames, unless you’re counting calling each other “baby” (which is probably used more often than our actual names) unashamedly in front of everyone we know. We enjoy doing everything together (okay, not everything.. but *almost* everything), especially hanging out with our two children, “family cuddles” and the dates we get to go on every so often. We also love going on shopping trips to IKEA. Oddly enough, we were already planning on going this Saturday before learning of the fun little party they’re hosting. It would make the treat even sweeter to walk in there with a few gift cards :)
