And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!
If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.
- PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
- ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

“BYOF ME!”
I met my best friend in the 4th grade. She had moved a month after school started. I helped her pick up her pencils and crayons when she dropped her entire backpack. We started chatting and have been friends ever since. I must say that it also helped that she moved in to the house across the street.

BYOFme!
I met my best friend 23 years ago and heard her talking to someone in the bathroom at our church and realized we worked at the same place. From that day on we have been great friends even though most of those years have been in far away places. You pick up the phone and it’s like a day didn’t go by. You pickup from where you were last time you talked.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I met my best friend when I was 8 and she was 6 – we rode horses at the same farm. We now live on opposite ends of the state but are still extremely close.

This is so perfect; I’m going to go visit my friend and since there’s no Ikea near me, we always hit it up…so winning these would be the BEST! (See what I did there?!)

BYOF me!!!
My BFF and I met probably about 15 years ago. We used to play together all the time, a little later in life we started dating (it lasted 4 years), and after that chapter now we are still the best of friends. He is the most special person I’ve had in my life and I know he will be around forever one way or another :-)

BYOF US!!!!!(Because sharing is caring) My BFF and I are complete opposites – personality, beliefs and political leanings (which, yes, do tie in with beliefs). We met at work five years ago, and became fast friends because we were both newlyweds. For all of our differences we have so many of the same interests: we love taking tea in the adult tea party fashion, can roam hardware stores for hours, and love a good farmer’s market on an brisk early Saturday morning (rain or shine). We are now both embarking on the next great adventure in our lives by starting our families (or at least adding human children to our ever-present and ever-loving dog children). Our due dates are a month apart (unplanned) and it is fantastic to have the support of someone who is just as excited, terrified and thrifty as me to ease my fears and spark my creativity.

I would have to say my best friend is my husband. I’ve always been shy and not confident enough to take the lead in friendships, but from the beginning I felt so comfortable with him – we could talk about anything! We like to do anything together, including camping in the rain.

My bestie and I met in utero before we were even born. Really! Our mommies were friends while pregnant, and we became fast friends in the nursery at church and have been inseparable for 30 years now!

I met my two best buds when I was 10ish. We went to the same middle school, high school, and college. We call each other ‘messes’ which is an old inside joke that would take far too long to explain and probably still wouldn’t make sense to anyone but us!
Michelle says
BYOF ME!! My best friend is my hubby. He’s my mister, I’m his wifie.

BYOF ME!
My BFF and I met through mutual friends. All of our husbands work together, so we kind of get tossed together and sometimes great friendships form, other times not. Luckily for us, we have grown to become great friends. We met while we were each pregnant so there’s that natural motherly bond that formed pretty quickly. And through a tragic loss our friendship and bond has only grown stronger. She inspires me to be a better mother, friend, and human. I don’t know how my life could be complete if it weren’t for her and her sweet little boy.

I met my best friend at work years ago…she started after me and we clicked right away. I tried to play matchmaker for her and it worked. She’s been my bestie through all of our life changes; her marriage, the births of our children (who also claim to be best friends lol) my divorce, job changes, etc. She was even with me when I met y’all at Ikea! :)

BYOF me!
We met online (yep) when I was 17 and she was 16. Shared a common interest in what would one day be known as blogging (back then we were on LiveJournal) and coming up with funky designs for our blogs. She lived in PA and I lived in CA. But we spoke every single day. She went on to become a flight attendant which meant once in a while she got to fly out to CA to hang out and the first time we ever met in person was on NYE in 2008 during a surprise layover. That’s eight years of friendship without meeting in person. We now make it a point to see each other at least once a year and share a common interest in amateur interior decorating. Yay!

My BFF is my go-to person when it comes to home decorating and I’m always seeking her advice. She was even so nice to visit for a weekend to recover a pair of chairs I found on Craigslist as seen here: http://thewantedlist.blogspot.com/2010/09/wanted-recovered-chairs.html.
