And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!
If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.
- PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
- ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

I met my Bestie in the womb….we have almost all the same interests, including your blog! She got me hooked, so when you said you were coming to our beautiful NorthWest for your book tour, we didn’t hesitate to block our calendars and start planning our road trip.
We used to switch classes on April Fools Day in Elementary School, take tests for each other in High School, and play the whole “wasn’t me, wasn’t me either” to get each other out of detention!

My BFF and I met over a sugar packet on the bus in middle school! Long story! Anyway, we spent our high school years doing everything together. After college she got married and moved across the country. Now we have kiddos who are close in age so our phone calls involve chatting about them. She is coming home to visit in a month…we would have a blast shopping at IKEA together!

BYOF Me! My best friend and I met junior year of highschool, thanks in particular to a teacher who believed only in alphabetical seating. We love to travel together and have started calling each other Klompen after a trip to Holland, MI. To commemorate our trip we bought a pair of the wooden shoes (klompen) and each took one shoe home. What’s better than bestie shoes?!

My BFF and I met in high school when I was being bullied by a group of upperclassmen. She bravely intervened and told them to stop. In fact, she even went straight to the principal’s office and reported them. Since that day she has always stuck up for me and been a true friend I can always rely on for support. She lends me her ego and backbone anytime I can’t defend myself. I would love to take her on this IKEA shopping spree to show her what a great friend she has been to me through the years.

BYOF me! My first IKEA experience was at the Canton, MI store. I fell in love! It was an hour drive from my house. There were two times when I needed a break and hired a babysitter so that I could go to IKEA by myself. Yes, that’s how I like to spend my alone time. It was heavenly!

My best friend and I met about 6 years ago through a mutual friend in college. We went to concerts together in college and then reconnected when I re-met her brother and started dating him. Now that my best friend is my sister-in-law we are even closer. We love 90’s music, playing Just Dance, and being dorks. She has two sons that made up my nickname “Nenna” and “Buhnessa”. I am so thankful for her friendship and that she’s my new sister! :)
Kelly says
I have two BFFs, a guy and a gal. My gal bestie I’ve known since middle school (although we attended the same preschool and I was in the same class as her twin brother). In 8th grade, she dislocated her shoulder and needed someone to carry her books, and I jumped at the excuse to get out of class early (are you sensing a theme? The Valedictorian and the Slacker), and a friendship was born. She now works in children’s publishing and we bond over books and sappy movies. She has always insisted that she wanted to be a princess, and I once went on a rant about how princesses had no power and if it were me, I’d rather be a Duchess, so we call each other Prinny and Dutch.
