And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!
If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.
- PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
- ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

My BFF is my husband and we met on my 19th birthday! We were put into a group by a college professor, to work on a project. Our other group member wanted to do her portion on her own, which just left the two of us. ;) The rest is history!

Byof me!! My bestie has been my bestie since we were 8!!! We are now 34. Do the math because we don’t like to think about our ages :) When she tragically lost her husband, in a work related incident in 2009, we were known to do many… MANY strange things. Road trips, tattoos, Vegas (shhhh…) we need this!

My BFF, Marissa, and I met in college about ten years ago. We are both the only child in our families and immediately we each felt like we had found our long-lost sister!
We don’t have nicknames (well, we call each other “boo”) or a handshake BUT we do have matching tattoos on the backs of our left biceps – they’re big green dill pickles with a banner that says “LAW & ORDER” waving across them. It’s a not-so-amazing story (lying in bed every night whilst in college watching law & order and eating dill pickles out of the jar) that became an AMAZING BFF tattoo!!!

My best friend is Jill and I met her in law school, she is my kindred spirit and we are really close to the same person. We even got our husbands to be best friends so now we can all hang out together. We don’t have a secret handshake, but we have plenty of inside jokes. Oh, and she is awesome cause she just took the Texas bar exam!

BYOF me! I met my BFF on a camping trip with my college church group. I knew she was a kindred spirit when I noticed she was the only other girl wearing lipgloss while camping and she suggested we ask one of the guys to drive us to the bathroom so we could do our makeup. :)

My oldest BFF and I met in high school right after I moved in town. I was brought to a surprise party for her and she hated me at first but after one game of scatagories all hard feelings were gone and we were instant besties! Now 14 years later, weddings, kids and 5000 miles we still have our inside jokes and we are each others first call with good or bad!!

BYOF Me! :-) My BFF is really my hubby, because we’ve been together for a decade (!!) as of this coming September, and it still feels lovely. We met while lunching at my college, and of course we have nicknames but they’d make zero sense to the rest of the world, lol.

BYOF me! My best friend and I met the year before Kindergarten when our fathers got together to swap old car parts. We have been best friends since then, all through elementary, middle, high school… and even college together out of state and then in the same sorority. Now we live across the country from one another but are still besties (we are celebrating 30 years of best friendship!!). I’d totally send her one of my cards if I win!

My 4 bffs and I met in college 18 years ago and we’re still called “the girls” by everyone who knows us. When we get together we’re often that annoying table that is laughing too loudly and is asked to take it down a notch. Love them!

I’ll have to admit that my husband counts as my BFF. To be honest, I’m not really a “BFF” kinda girl–I’ve got phone friends & coffee date friends & dinner on a Friday night friends…not so much a one-stop-shop as much as an outlet mall of variety :)

“BYOF ME!” My BFF and I met in 10th grade and we have a ridiculous number of secret code names for many things that are too embarrassing to share. :)
