Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME!

    I love white lights outlining the outside of a house, along with some green and red, pretty and classic. I also like those big colored bulbs, the old school ones. I like our real christmas tree all in white lights, with different color ornaments.

    LAMP ME! I love the candle lights in the windows of a home. I’m not a fan of colored lights, unless it’s red and white.

    Growing up my dad was known as the “Clark Grizwald” of our city- so it’s no surprise that the love for outdoor twinkling lights has stuck with me all these years! I love them!

    LAMP ME! I’ve always had the white lights on the tree but I think my kids would love over the top with tons of color….funny story….we live out in the country down a long dirt road and NO ONE ever comes driving by so we don’t decorate the outside of the house with lights. But my husband never misses the opportunity to say how big the power bill will be at the houses covered with lights. So now, every time we ride by a totally decked out house with tons of lights my girls go “wow! that’s really pretty but I bet his power bill will be really big!” HA HA!

    LAMP ME!
    We love decorating with the old school C7’s on our tree with a little bubble light action mixed in…started decorating this way when the kids were little and now they can’t wait to see the tree when they come home for vacation from college.

    I LOVE when a house is all lit up with Christmas lights. My daughter especially loves when everything (side of the house, garage, windows, driveway) is outlined and she calls them gingerbread houses :)

    LAMP ME: I love the warm glow of white lights on the tree. For outside, my husband goes all out. I live driving into our cul de sac and seeing the bright lights!

    I love candle light mixed with whatever lights we have on the Christmas tree (sometimes white, sometimes color).

    LAMP ME! I love what I think are called Moravian lights – kind of a multi-pointed star with a light inside. So pretty!

    I love the classic white lights on my Christmas tree. I plug them in almost as soon as I get home from work every day!

    LAMP ME! I love the glow of the assorted metallic votives I have on my mantel-burgundy, mercury glass, gold and silver. It may not seem lilke it, but they work well together. I have window candles too. My husband was complaining that he thought they were old-fashioned, but I crave the tradition of them.
