Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    I’m a big fan of monochromatic white lights on a tree! And of course a Christmas fire isn’t so bad either.

    I used colored lights for years on our tree, but for the past couple of years, we’ve used white lights and love the calming glow…

    LAMP ME! I love love love the glow of Christmas tree lights. And although I really like the look of white lights, the glow of colorful lights is just too good.

    LAMP ME! I love the soft glow of our little lamp and the indoor decorative Christmas lights we keep up year round. Makes my house feel cozy, comfy and special.

    I love those old-fashioned bubble lights. My mom still has a few of those… but basically, any light is a good light. :-)

    There was a small garden center called Meder’s in my hometown that elaborately decorated the artificial trees they sold in a special Christmas room, and my parents would take me through to look at them. There was nothing cooler to me than those old-school bubble lights. Except for the reindeer they brought in that you could feed with 10 cents worth of corn, but still–those bubble lights were pretty rad!

    LAMP ME! I have always been partial to the traditional white lights, both on the tree and outside…but am starting to like the outdoor colored lights more and more. Maybe next year!

    I’ve always loved candles around the holidays. Decorating with them is just so warm and inviting!I love real candles in windows of homes.

    LAMP ME! I love just plain old multicolored Christmas tree lights. I have some hanging around my bedroom door as my New Jersey apartment is way too narrow for a tree or many decorations. Anyway, my mom desperately needs new lights for her house, so I’d love to win this as an amazing present for her!

    Lamp Me! We love white lights. Sadly, this year they didn’t go up :( but it’s because our pink brick house is getting painted. I can’t wait for next year to bedazzle the house with white xmas lights.

    LAMP ME!
    I’m not a fan of rooms that rely on one, centered overhead light, so the warm glow of lamps will always be my fave.

    And yes, the glow of tiny white lights on the Christmas tree in our living room is irresistible.

    I prefer lots and lots of tiny white lights. They make me happy. Our tree right now pretty much lights up the whole room.
