Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME!

    I’m a traditional little white lights on the Christmas tree type gal, but the colorful LED lights on the outside of the house are really growing on me!

    LAMP ME!
    I love Christmas tree lights, but my favorite lights from years past have been when the power went out after Christmas dinner and we (and all the neighborhood) lit candles and had quiet time with family and no distractions. When it started getting cold, we went for a drive and enjoyed seeing the neighborhood looking quiet and candle-lit.

    I love the new style icicle lights that slowly drip down. Living in Florida we don’t get snow and icicles so, lighted ones are the next best thing!

    LAMP ME! I do love the white lights on a Christmas tree. I love seeing them through the window too, and I especially love how the light catches on sparkly ornaments. I’m not a huge fan of colored Christmas lights.

    Lamp me! I love being able to have the fireplace going. I’ve even been using the fireplace first thing in the morning while I have coffee!

    LAMP ME!

    I love dimming the lights so the Christmas tree can shine on its own, then cuddling next to it in the sofa with the kids to read. Bedtime stories are much sweeter during Christmas.

    Lamp Me!

    I’m a sucker for all white lights on a tree but this year we mixed it up and did tiny twinkle lights in white and a small strand of the large bright colored bulbs mixed in!

    LAMP ME! I love the multi-colored lights on a tree but white lights outdoors. And I like them to be pretty traditional outside- no tacky light tour for me!

    LAMP ME!
    I love the glow of soft white Christmas lights. I even moved our big tree to our basement den (versus last year’s 2.5-foot tall mini tree) so I could see it more often, though it is admittedly a little too big for the room. Keeping my eyes open for a discounted narrow tree for next year!

    Lamp Me!!! I’ve always been a fan of really simple and subdued white christmas lights and white candles in the windows. Now I’m a mom with all kinds of colored lights that my kids love and about a million pipe cleaner, paper plate…you name it, hand made ornaments on the tree and I love it!!

      I am a purist, I love white leds decorating all the landscaping outside, as well as white leds on the tree with super colorful bulbs and ornaments!

    I love white (non-LED) Christmas lights. Glowing on the snow or twinkling on the tree, they just warm everything up!

    LAMP ME! Flickering candlelight is so lovely at holiday time. I prefer the real thing but I have quite a few flameless candles on timers around the house.

    LAMP ME!!!! I love when people change out their front porch lights for a color for the holidays!! Maybe a red or green glow on the front porch!!
