Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME! The glow of the tree is definitely my favorite holiday light. We found pretty LED string lights at Target this year that actually glow warm and have a kind of honeycomb/mercury glass type finish to them, so in love!

    I love the glow of the white mini-lights on the Christmas tree with a fireplace full of crackling birch logs. Mmmmmmmm….. I love this time of year!

    My favorite Christmas lights are the multi colored lights that have the purple in them, so pretty! I don’t have lights on the outside of my house but I can’t help but smile when I drive past a house with those lights!

    Lamp Me! I can’t resist the glow of a tree with white lights and a pretty star in the evenings during the holidays. It’s like a flashback to Christmas mornings peeking to see what Santa brought.

    LAMP ME! My favorite type of light is the soft glow from a lowlevel lightbulb under a simple white shade. Very peaceful!

    LAMP ME…I love the icicle lights even though they’re not that popular anymore. My brother gave me a figure with lights that I love in the corner of my kitchen. Means Christmas to me.

    Maybe because i was born on Christmas, its all about the tree for me. Love little white lights highlighting our ornaments collected over the years.

    LAMP ME!
    My favorite holiday light is a little old ceramic tree that’s covered in plastic bulbs (and is set on top of a light.) You know the kind, I’m sure! I can remember staring at this tree at my grandparents house every Christmas, and just last year my grandmother gave it to me! :) Unfortunately this year I have to keep it up a little high- we have a toddler scootching around that would just LOVE to pull off the lit up Christmas tree!

    LAMP ME! I love the glow of white lights on my little Christmas tree in our school room. It is so simple just the tree and the lights but so calming!! I might have to keep it up all through the winter :)

    LAMP ME!

    We just moved to a house with a very long uphill driveway and decided this Christmas season to line the driveway with big LED lollipops. They change color, blink, swirl. Whatever. Totally psychedelic. I keep catching people parked out front at night taking pictures. So it’s either a hit with the new neighbors or they think we’re very strange.

    LAMP ME! I love the light of a fire, especially while outdoors! Nothing beats a warm campfire, snacks, good friends and a glass of whiskey when it’s cold outside. :)
