Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    Hmmm, I love all the Christmas Lights! I guess I love the glow of real candles in windows, but since people don’t do that anymore, I’ll say a fire in the fireplace!

    I’m all about big, colorful, and bright. But I haven’t put any on our house. Because…I don’t like ladders. Womp womp.

    Lamp me!!! I love lamp! ;)

    My favorite is grabbing all our Christmas lights, then throwing them on the bushes without knowing which are the blinking, colored, or white lights. Then plugging them in to reveal the masterpiece. Not always the prettiest house on the block but lots of fun! :)

    Lamp me! I love mood lighting- so we dim the track lights, and turn on a dim desk lamp, light a few candles. Makes for a cozy night.

    Lamp me! I change my Christmas lights pretty regularly – I’ve tried big and small, white, solid colors, multicolored, but the one consistent is that I always have candles burning for parties or just myself.

    LAMP ME! I like classic white lights. Something I haven’t seen in a while that’s lots of fun is bubble lights that bubble when they heat up. (like lava lamps for your tree)

    LAMP ME! I love to turn on all (yes all, we have 5 Christmas trees) on around the house and my christmas village…then i usually stub my toe because I dont want to turn anything else on it looks so pretty!

    Lamp me! I love looking down my street before I pull the bedroom window shade down at night and pausing to see all of my sweet neighbors’ Chrristmas lights twinkling !

    I love candlelight on a formally set holiday table, but the multicolored vintage bulbs on the tree are a close second!

    I’ve got a 3 month old who can’t stop staring at the Christmas tree lights…. And I can’t stop staring at him!

    My favorite holiday ‘light’ will always be outside Christmas lights as it reminds me of a tradition we had as a child — we would drive around a neighboring suburb who had Christmas light contests and went all out.

    Lamp me! My favorite lights of the season are when christmas and Hanukkah overlap and we hve our Christmas tree lights twinkling and our menorah candles glowing.
