Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    My favorite set of lights at our house are in the garland that we string all around the house. It makes everything sparkle!!

    Lamp Me! I love the traditional white lights, but I love the kind you can set to “twinkle”! That makes me happy :)

    I’m loving my white christmas tree lights. it even reflects into the kitchen window, so when i’m doing dishes at night i can see the pretty glow of the tree.

    I just read in your book about updating lighting :) I can think of a few places for a new light!

    Lamp Me!

    Holiday lights make me smile, especially the light shining on my moms home made Santa and Rudolf statues made over 25 years ago. Love a fire going…but I don’t have one in my new house (yet!). BOO.

    I love simple white lights on our Christmas tree and on our bushes outside but I looove checking out the over-the-top, colorful, blinking crazy houses out in the neighborhood!

    LAMP ME!
    Generally it’s a toss up between the white christmas tree lights and a fire in the fireplace…but it’s been in the 60’s and 70’s here, so the fire isn’t really happening

    LAMP ME!! I am a sucker for a house decorated in white lights but my favorite is a house with candles in all the windows. Our candles went MIA during our recent kitchen renovation (no idea how!) and I am so sad!!!

    LAMP ME! My favorite holiday light is the candlelight of our family’s menorah, but I also appreciate the way outdoor Christmas lights make the dark days of winter feel less gloomy.

    I looooove my Christmas tree! I do understated light – just clear and a soft gold/yellow. They look great together and make the whole room feel so warm and cozy. Just hosted a huge soiree this weekend and got so many compliments on the tree! :)

    I’m a big fan of those larger colored Christmas lights that used to be the norm in the 80s. Their soft, warm glow (as opposed to the sharper, glittery look of modern lights) makes me feel all Crissmussy. =)
