Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    LAMP ME! Under most circumstances I love the glimmer of white lights, but my 2 year old daughter’s color of choice this year for her room was PINK… and it’s growing on me :)

    I love the white lights of my Christmas tree. I used colored lights for everything else, but keep the tree all white.

    Lamp Me!
    I like the simple white lights on a Christmas tree. I love that they don’t take away from anything else and just add a special little glow. My husband loves blue lights on the tree. He just thinks they’re cool…we have a prelit Christmas tree (in white) but for years I’ve hoped to get him blue lights and decorate it just for him one year. But I’ve never done it.

    I LOVE my white Christmas lights on our tree and going down our railing. I’m not the biggest fan of overhead lighting so this would be a treat!

    LAMP ME!

    the cool tone LED white lights [like the icicles!] are my favorite. Simple, clean, not harsh on the eyes. They use less electricity and are cool to the touch. I used two strings to make a tree on the wall this year [couldn’t afford the real deal, haha.] and I love them to pieces. After Christmas I’m poking them into canvas for art.

    Lamp me!

    My favorite holiday lights is my welcome light, which are popular in Scandinavia. It adds a cheerful glow to our living room, and makes our home look very cozy from the outside too.

    I love all the lights of Christmas but nothing beats a fire in the fireplace. The smell of wood smoke, the sound of the crackling fire, nothing even comes close. I think I will light a fire tonight in fact.

    LAMP ME! While I love white lights (the boy and I line our windows with them in our apartment at this time of year!), my childhood favorite was (and always will be) bright, colorful mini-bulbs. Love ’em!

    Lamp me! I love when people put light on the inside of the evergreen trees. They sparkle subtly and it is really pretty.

    I never liked the old-school big primary color christmas lights, until we moved into our brick mid-century ranch home. Now, nothing else will do on our tree!
