Fab Freebie: Christmas Lights

This week’s early Christmas present is going to… Nancy (who says she “could certainly use some new lighting” and her favorite holiday glow “has to be my fireplace.”) Congrats Nancy!

As much as we love holiday lights, indoor lighting is something that you stare at every day of the year. So if you don’t love your lighting situation, this is one way to “dude, get on that” without spending any cash. See, recently we were voted one of Lamps Plus’ top home blogs of 2012 (how flattering!) and it came with a $500 shopping spree prize… but you know we don’t take freebies or swag, so the folks at Lamps Plus kindly agreed that we could pass that $500 credit to one of you! We’ve been fans of theirs for a while now since they seem to have about a million options (their chandeliers even popped up in our book a few times) so this week’s winner should have no trouble finding something to spend their light-loot on if they win.

    I love regular Christmas lights (or twinkle lights) on a house, tree, mantel…they make anything look special!

    I love the old fashioned warm sting lights – – we put them on our house every year. It’s getting harder and harder to find replacement bulbs, so eventually we’ll have to give in and switch to the ultra cool led lights.

    LAMP ME! I love the classic white incandescent lights, none of that LED stuff. I think they just look so good. But I love them in the million quantity range, seriously.

    LAMP ME! Growing up my mother and I had an ongoing battle between white lights (mom) and colored lights (child me). We finally compromised on white lights outside and colored lights on the tree.

    Lamp Me! My favorite are the candles several of my neighbors put in ever.single.window at Christmas time. I have a few but not enough for every window. Dude-I should get on that!

    I love a house all decked out in colored lights outside! I love a warm cozy fire in a fireplace too though… I miss that. Our current house has a large cast iron stove instead of a fireplace… Soooo ready to get rid of it and have a fireplace installed instead!

    Love white christmas lights. Occasionally I’ll see a house that does colored lights well, but it’s rare.
