In honor of our new nephew’s arrival this week (he’s scheduled to come via C-section on Wednesday!) we’ve got the mother of all baby-themed giveaways courtesy of LaJobi Industries. They’re the makers of stylish baby and youth furniture and this week they’re giving away an eco-friendly crib and crib mattress to one lucky parent (or parent-to-be).
The Dakota crib by Graco is their first environmentally friendly crib – it’s made from sustainable woods, the dark walnut finish is water based and all the packaging comes from recycled materials. Plus, it looks pretty darn good. You can read all the nitty-gritty details about it on Walmart.com, since they’re the exclusive retailer of the Dakota line (which also includes a changing table).
But an eco-friendly crib wouldn’t be complete without an eco-friendly mattress to pair it with. So LaJobi is throwing in a Serta Nightstar Eco Firm mattress, which is made from organic cotton layers. Together that’s a $330 package that should help both you and your baby sleep better!
- PRIZE: LaJobi’s Eco-Friendly Dakota Classic Crib by Graco and Serta Nighstar Eco Firm Crib & Toddler Mattress
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CRIB ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what your favorite bedtime story is. Is it a classic like “Goodnight Moon”- or something more progressive like “Captain Underpants?”
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, October 21st at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: USA only
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Appropriately, I loved a book called “I Do Not Want to Get Up Today!” but I can’t remember the author – just the silly, nonsense rhymes. :)

My favorite bedtime story is a modified version of the Wizard of Oz. My mom used to skip to when they go to the city of Oz and make up stories about the people who lived there. I would hear a story about a boy in Oz who talked to much and how the wizard punished him if I had gotten in trouble for talking in class that day. lol

My fave story (although not necessarily a bedtime story) was “From the Mised-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler” I use to demand it to be read to me all the time.
I now blame it on the reason I started working in museums. :)

My favorite bedtime story as a child was a book called “Alexander”. It is about a little boy who had a pet zebra name Alexander, and he would blame all the bad things he would do on his “pet” zebra. This book was written in the late 50’s and was my dad’s book as a child!

CRIB ME! I just found out I was pregnant :) and my husband I finished a 30 day total renovation of our house from the 30s to get very dated house in shape for the wedding in our backyard. MUCH inspiration came from your site, including our paint scheme of grays, white and greens.
As a child, I loved it when my grandpa would come over and put me to sleep with one of his own stories from growing up on a farm in rural South Dakota!

I’m going to go back to one of my earliest favorites, Go Dog Go. I’m pretty sure that’s a P.D. Eastman book, though it “looks” like a Dr. Suess book (same publisher and format). Both my sister and I stared at those drawings for hours! It’s one of the first books my husband and I purchased for our child’s collection… actually I think we bought it before we were married. =)
