We love giving away lamps, what can we say. So if you didn’t come out on top last week, here’s another shot at taking home a stylish piece of lighting for your home.
This week’s prize comes from The Shade Shop & Lighting Gallery located in nearby Charlottesville, Virginia. They offer a diverse and ever-changing gallery of table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, sconces, tables and (of course) lamp shades. In fact, they’re brimming with excitement over the new line of Bunny Williams lamps that just arrived. Plus, the Shade Shop offers custom lampwork and repair, meaning if you want something unique they can make it AND they can fix it if you happen to break it.
But hopefully you’ll have trouble breaking the antique-nickel-clad Lucy Accent Lamp (valued at $298) that they’ve put up for grabs this week. Check it out below:
To enter to win just comment on this post with the words “GIMME A LIGHT” by Wednesday, March 4th at 8pm EST. And since this prize hails from my alma mater’s hometown, we’d love to hear what you loved most about your college hometown. I could go on and on about Charlottesville- after all it was once named the #1 place to live in the US. And we could probably name quite a few things we love about Sherry’s college town (NYC) too, considering it’s where we met. This prize can be shipped to the lower 48 United States and as always, only one entry per e-mail address is allowed. Good luck…

Richmond is currently my college town, and I love it! What most? How about the culture, arts, and the history.

That lamp is definitely gorgeous! My college town was Davis, California… the best thing about it was the people — friendly small town, large undergraduate class… we had so much fun!!! And I met a few people that are my best best friends 10 years later. Couldn’t do without them! Second best things about Davis include the Rec Pool, all the bicycles, and the Grad. Haha! The grad had different music every night of the week =). Fun times.

I’m so happy to see William and Mary representing! I’m still in school, so it will soon (May!) be my alma mater. I think my favorite thing is that it’s senior year and I can walk from my dorm to the delis (we don’t have those things called bars) in about 30 seconds. And then Wawa on the way home, because the Cheese Shop is closed.
However, I am a HUGE UVA fan, so Charlottesville is like my second home, and on the way to my actual home in Lynchburg. WAHOO WAH!

Gimme A Light! I love lamps; great alternatives to the harsh lighting of an overhead.

Love this lamp. And I loved my college town, Columbia, MO for one reason: Tropical Liquors. Where else can you get alcoholic slushies from a drive-thru window?

My college hometown was also the town where I was born, where my parents grew up, and where most of my extended family still lived. I loved being “away” from home, but with a home-cooked meal not far away.

My college hometown is Kearney, NE. I think at the time it was in the top 25 list of best “party” schools… Not that I did any of that! I think I liked the town more than the actual college! It has always felt like home to me. It’s where I met my husband. Sweet nostalgia!

What I loved about my college town in upstate NY were the mountains and trees, especially in the fall the colors were just amazing. I don’t miss all that snow though (we’re Floridians now)!

ooh, GIMME A LIGHT! what a gorgeous lamp.
what I loved most about my college town? It was where my husband and I fell in love. :) Tons of mushy memories – and it was on the tip of Lake Superior, with gorgeous beaches and touristy things just a mile away.

My college hometown was Houghton, MI, home to Michigan Tech. It is likely one of the smallest college towns in the country, but is in a beautiful part of our country, with an incredible history to go with it. Best of all, I met my husband there. We now make our home in another great college town, Madison, WI (beautiful lakes and Babcock Hall ice cream are a couple of the perks here!).

I loved that my college town was ten minutes away from a lake for boating in the summer and ten minutes away from the canyon for skiing in the winter. Best of both worlds :-)

Trying to think of good things to say about my college town, but it was Amish country and very small. It was definitely a safe town though and smelled like chocolate because the M&M/Mars factory was across the street!

Gimme a light!! My college town was in Denton, Texas. Now I am a teacher and I take my third graders on a Science field trip at UNT each year. It always feels so nostalgic being back on campus. I have to admit I do feel a little envious of those college students heading to class with their backpacks:)

My college was in Buies Creek, NC…It was so small we had a party freshman year for the very first stop light in Buies Creek. My favorite thing was the ~200 year-old oak trees scattered across campus – beautiful as well as gave some welcome shade when you were scurrying to class in the heat and humidity of NC in August. We also had a “campus dog”, a huge orange chow who was the sweetest animal I have ever met and never, ever barked and was such a fixture he was allowed into the campus buildings.

My collegetown was Hammond, LA. It is everything a small town should be, full of American pride, friends and goodness.
That’s why my friend Ash called it “Hammond America!”

GIMME A LIGHT!! Why do I love Roanoke College’s tiny town of Salem, VA? I love it because everyone knew your name and you couldn’t walk from one side of the campus to the other without people saying “Hi!” I love it because we had a blast with the costume parties (like Caddyshack and Married to the Mob). I love it because there were people that changed my life, relationships that made me grow, and a degree that took me to where I am today. Love the lamp….thanks for letting me enter to win it!

I graduated from The University of Georgia and the best thing about Athens was the downtown scene. There is a bar and a restaurant for everyone. The pre-civil war buildings, the huge trees on North Campus, the macaroni and cheese from 5 Star Day Cafe (yes where R.E.M got their start)
Now I officially miss Athens!

My college hometown was in the beautiful La Jolla, California. Seriously, what’s not to love about a 5-min walk from campus to the beach, the Torrey Pines golf course across from our campus, the beautiful mansions, and the HOT people?! But it sure wasn’t a cheap place to live in…

I attended college in the gorgeous Santa Barbara, California! The beach, the college atmosphere, the gorgeous campus were all amazing! Very spendy, though…
I also attended, and graduated from, Chico State! I love Chico – so friendly and also a gorgeous campus. I really loved how “green” and eco-friendly the town was. It’s where my obsession with “being green” started from!
