We love giving away lamps, what can we say. So if you didn’t come out on top last week, here’s another shot at taking home a stylish piece of lighting for your home.
This week’s prize comes from The Shade Shop & Lighting Gallery located in nearby Charlottesville, Virginia. They offer a diverse and ever-changing gallery of table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, sconces, tables and (of course) lamp shades. In fact, they’re brimming with excitement over the new line of Bunny Williams lamps that just arrived. Plus, the Shade Shop offers custom lampwork and repair, meaning if you want something unique they can make it AND they can fix it if you happen to break it.
But hopefully you’ll have trouble breaking the antique-nickel-clad Lucy Accent Lamp (valued at $298) that they’ve put up for grabs this week. Check it out below:
To enter to win just comment on this post with the words “GIMME A LIGHT” by Wednesday, March 4th at 8pm EST. And since this prize hails from my alma mater’s hometown, we’d love to hear what you loved most about your college hometown. I could go on and on about Charlottesville- after all it was once named the #1 place to live in the US. And we could probably name quite a few things we love about Sherry’s college town (NYC) too, considering it’s where we met. This prize can be shipped to the lower 48 United States and as always, only one entry per e-mail address is allowed. Good luck…
You can get the full scoop on our giveaways right here. Image courtesy of Barnes & Noble.

GIMME A LIGHT! My favorite thing about my college town, Belton, TX, was this little mexican restaurant called Jalisco’s. We were there all the time. They served their queso with a scoop of guacamole in the bottom of the bowl and it was AMAZING.

gimme a light! What a beautiful lamp! I hope I can still enter the contest even though I live in Canada – if I win (ha ha) could I have it shipped to my aunt in the U.S.? I only recently discovered your site/blog and it has been very inspirational as I try to fix up our lowly home on a small budget :) Oh, what I loved about the town where I went to university was that you could walk everywhere and you were always bumping into someone you knew.

I went to Arcadia U outside of Philly in Glenside, PA. It was wonderful being close to Philadelphia and all the museums, galleries, and events, but still in a small town! There was also a great arboretum near campus that my roomie and I would go to study at… which turned into people/dog watching – they had a doggy obedience school that was so fun to watch! So many good memories!
PS Wow, you guys must be so excited at how many readers you have!

I went to the University of Georgia. Athens is a city full of arts, music, food, nightlife, and football. I could not have imagined how much I ended up loving this town. My favorite memories are of going to shows at the 40 Watt club.

whoops, not trying to enter again, but somehow posted b/4 I finished and commented about my college town and I do want to play by the rules. Anyway, I went to ISU in Normal, IL. The town itself was nothing special/picturesque nor was the campus especially pretty, and it was Fuh-REEZING in the winter, but I did meet my best friends and my husband there so that made it worth it. I can’t imagine my life if I had gone somewhere else!
(Also, I lived in the C’ville area for 3 years, so my favorite thing about John’s college town is that you could be anywhere, coming out of the grocery store for instance, and you’d be confronted with a gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.)

I attended the fantastic Ohio University in Athens Ohio. It’s well known nationally for its Halloween party. The party coincides with the time change so there’s an extra hour to drink – always a welcome challenge to college folk.

And let’s see – from Ann Arbor (University of Michigan) my favorite thing was the crazy amount of diversity (yay for diverse perspectives and people who CARE about the world!). And from Palo Alto (Stanford) I think I’ll go ahead and pick the weather as my favorite (seriously, if there’s better weather in the world than in the San Francisco Bay Area, I sure have yet to experience it!). :)

My husband and I went to Mizzou – good ol’ Columbia Missouri! One of the reasons I love that place is a brew pub named Flat Branch. They had this amazing patio that was so nice to hang out at during the summer when all the students weren’t in town! :)

College (which I just recently graduated from two months ago, woohoo) was in Austin, TX at The University of Texas. Hook’em. What’s not to love? A killer music scene, Tex-Mex, football, the springs to swim in on a hot summer day, and an artsy-fartsy, hippie, laid-back feel… I miss it already.

I am a Clarke College alum, and I never thought I’d love Dubuque, Iowa as much as I did. I’m a city-girl. I hadn’t heard of Dubuque until just before I moved there. But I love it and I miss it. It’s the biggest little city in the country!
The lamp is amazing – great giveaway! I hope I win.

The best thing about my college town – Northampton, MA – was the restaurants, and the new culinary experiences that awaited my naive palate. Indian, Argentinian, Moroccan, crepes, sushi…I tried them all for the first time there, but not the last!

I really liked the park in my alma mater’s hometown – Beaver Dick Park. I thought that name was a joke too when I first arrived in Rexburg, Idaho…but sadly, no, it’s not.
