Fab Freebie: Gotta Hand It To You

Thanks to random.org, we’ve got a Merry (belated) Christmas prize going out to… Kristin Aune (who made t-shirts for both of her kids, ornaments, buckeyes and has been trying to perfect her fudge pie recipe). Congrats!

Wahoo. Hope you guys all had an awesome holiday weekend (you can see a sliver of ours here). As we mentioned on Friday, we’ll be stopping in with one quick post each day this week (amongst family hosting, feverish book-deadline writing, and priming & painting all of our kitchen cabinets). But we couldn’t wait to share today’s giveaway that we wrangled after seeing so much amazing stuff at our local Handmade Holiday craft fair. So this week’s lucky winner will get:

  • An 8×10 letterpress print (any choice of quote & color), a set of blueprint notes (airplane, boat, golfcart, knots, wave, or lighthouse) and a leather blank book from Almanac Industries. These Baltimore-based bookbinders and letterpress gurus bring a wonderful worn and masculine vibe to these printed prizes.
  • $50 towards Funnel Cloud Studio on Etsy. Obviously we love her Virginia-themed art, but she also has a bunch of cheerful patterned prints and cheeky illustrations to choose from too.
  • A 26-letter ornament set and this green vase from Turnerbots. And we thought our J, S, C and B initial ornaments were cool. Someone’s about to get a whole alphabet full of candy colored ceramics, along with a V-A-S-E.
  • $50 towards Zou Zou’s Basement on Etsy. We loved the bunny print that we bought, and this $50 is enough to snag two of her colorful prints.

    Hand it to me!

    I made Christmas bows from ribbon… thought I’d save some pennies, but it wasn’t really worth the hassle. They look as though they’ve been to hell and back.

    But I’m also working on a hat for my dad, featuring deer, uh, doing it.

    This year i made a small quilt, numerous toe bed warmers, appliqued pillows in my nieces’ likeness, hand print trees of the kids, liquors, and beanbags. Been busy!

    I’ve been doing a lot of handy work lately — headboard, cookies, gifts, knitting hats and scarves! I’m loving this time off work and school so I can get my hands dirty!

    Hand it to me!
    You guys inspired me to give my husband his favorite Christmas gift, our girls’ artwork matted and framed. I used scrap book paper instead of matte board and even did a hand print project just for the occasion. He spent Christmas day proudly hanging all give pieces in the house. Happy hubby

    I did some baking for the holidays, but I didn’t make anything *cool* for Christmas this year! I meant to, really, but it was my last semester at school and I was absorbed in a final project.

    Ok, full discloser: I just completed my Art degree but my concentration was Crafts/Fibers/Weaving and all semester I wove the fabric that I later dyed & sewed into a dress.

    That is my excuse for not getting crazy with glitter this year. I was tired! hahaha. Now I am tired and vaguely proud but mostly tired. The dressy is over here, though: http://www.kelseykeefe.net/2011/12/i-made-dress-from-string.html

    Next year I want to weave fabric to make into stockings! STOCKINGS! To hang with care!

    I made felt initial ornaments for all of my co-workers. They were a huge hit. I would love a one for myself, without all of the hand sewing work!

    HAND IT TO ME! Christmas Eve I made a great banana bread from a recipe from SimplyRecipes.com. It was delicious and simple to make and warm from the oven, it was a great winter treat!

    I just did a little baking — roasted root vegetables — and I made a dress for New Year’s Eve! That was fun, until my sewing machine broke :/

    I tried to make an ornament for my son’s first christmas using your glass etching technique but it didn’t turn out so well… I ended up just brushing the armouretch over the entire ornament and then painting his name & the year. Still kinda cute!

    Recently my husband and I built some palette benches and wood panel palette-ish wall. It’s almost done and we love it!! That’s aside from all the homemade “what’s in the fridge” soup we’ve been devouring this season.

    I made lots of cut out sugar cookies as gifts and for my family to enjoy. The kids helped cut out and decorate this year.

    I made my Mom a painting for Christmas.. It was inspired by a piece we saw in a gallery that wasn’t for sale. She loved it!
