***This giveaway has reached our cap of 10,000 entries and is now closed. See who won below!***
It took you guys just a little under 6 hours to push this blogiversary giveaway to its 10,000 entry cap, so we’re here with an earlier-than-usual update on our randomly selected winner. That lucky person is… Britta (who’s currently living in baby/preschooler world so she hopes in five years she won’t “have to deal with someone else’s poop on a daily basis and to be able to sleep through the night!”). Congrats Britta!
For every blogiversary we try to do something special for that week’s giveaway. And this year we ran with the five theme and snagged five different $500 prizes for one lucky winner from a few of our favorite places: FLOR, HomeGoods, Joss & Main, Shades of Light and Z Gallerie. Which means someone’s gonna get a grant total of $2,500 to spend in celebration of our big five year blogiversary.
The five generous folks who are each giving away $500 aren’t just places we love, but also places that hold a special place in the our blog’s history (and future). In addition to being one of our first and most longstanding sponsors, Z Gallerie has dished out prizes for a blogiversary before – and was our first ever giveaway to break the 1,000 entry mark.
Richmond-based Shades of Light (also a long-time sponsor) has found their way into our home on several occasions (their local outlet makes us crazy). Plus we’ve got an exciting announcement about them that we’ll be sharing soon (secrets, secrets, are no fun).
Joss & Main is a newer favorite of ours, and they’ve invited us twice to curate sale collections on their site…. so we’ll always be grateful to them for making us feel like real designers – even if only for a brief time. Haha.
While HomeGoods seems to find their way onto our blog pretty often (like a $500 giveaway for you guys last week), one of our favorite instances was when they helped us makeover a local family’s living areas for them a while back.
And last but not least is FLOR, whose catalogs is one of our favorites to get in the mail. But more importantly, they’re gonna play an important role in our upcoming book tour. More details on that next week!
- PRIZE: $500 gift cards to FLOR, HomeGoods, Joss & Main, Shades of Light and Z Gallerie (totaling $2,500!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “FIFTH ME” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: … where you see yourself in five years. We always say we have no clue where we’ll be down the road but it’s always fun to imagine, right? How might your family be different or have grown? Will you be in a new home or a new city? Will you have the same job?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Sept 26th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States (although we do try to wrangle as many international giveaways as possible)
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of FLOR, HomeGoods, Joss & Main, Shades of Light and Z Gallerie.

Fifth me.
Five years: I anticipate same city, same job. I’ll have two teenagers, yikes! I’ll hopefully still be living in this house, having made some excellent and major changes. And my baby will be in elementary school. Whoa, sad and exciting at the same time. Maybe I’ll change from SAHM and add something into the mix.

In 5 years, I hope to still be living in DC (or at least city adjacent) and have a kid or 2. I also hope to grow some of the skills I’ve been working and learning in the past few years, including sewing, HTML, CSS, and jewelry-making (my new hobbies are a little random, I admit)

In 5 years I hope to have a kid or two as well. I’d like to be at my same job – I love it. And I hope to be in the same city. Maybe in a slightly bigger house. And I hope my puppy is finally calm enough to just sit with us instead of barking/biting all the time. :)

And I hope to be thinking about returning to school for a PhD in Sociology at that point (as the kiddos start school/preschool). But who knows!
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

Any who in five years I hope to see myself maybe in a new bigger home with both my boys in grade school (currently ages 3 and 4 EKK will that happen within five years!) and most importantly happy!

FIFTH ME! :)
Five years is a long way down the line…I hope to be out of our starter home (after the mile-long “to-do” list is completely crossed off!) and knee deep in a second house. We got our feet wet with DIY in our first home, so I’m hoping our next place comes with a bit more of a challenge!
I have to tell you guys how much you inspire my partner and I to take on jobs around the house that a year ago would have seemed way too overwhelming. Our new can-do attitude has really made us feel like we’ve accomplished a lot and we can be really proud of our home!

I’ve asked myself this question for a while and I finally feel like I’m on the right path.
I had a hobby of DIY and refinishing furniture for years. Since getting engaged, I fell in love with the look of vintage mismatched chairs. Since there were no vintal chair rentals in Colorado, I searched estate sales, goodwill and every sale out there to start my on collection. I’ve recently started Chairs with Character, a vintage chair rental company, and hope that in 5 years I could leave my office job. I would like the company to expanded beyond chairs and to sofas, tables, decor, etc. My soon-to-be husband and I would hope that around 5 years, we would be blessed to start a family and keep on with the adventure of life.

In five years, I hope to have a little one (or two) running around our home and maybe by then we’ll have transitioned from our starter home to our maybe forever home!
Terry D says
FIFTH ME!! In five years I hope to be the mother of a child with a PhD, a mother in law and a grandmother. Like the two of you, my husband and I started out 30+ years ago with a two bedroom bungalow that we totally remodeled. We took down walls, moved doors, added a deck, gutted the bathroom (bathed on the deck for a week), updated the kitchen, totally redid the landscaping, replaced the roof, added central heat and air, customized closets, the list goes on and on. I love reading your blog because it takes me back to those early days of marriage. In all these years, the one thing we do not do together is wallpaper, it’s ugly, really ugly, the name calling starts within 5 minutes.

Fifth Me. I see us moving into our first home with 2 little ones.

Tami says
FIFTH ME!! Happy Blogiversary! In 5 years, I hope to still be satisfied and happy in general…although a bigger house wouldn’t hurt! = )
Jen says
FIFTH ME!
Since we recently moved into a new house, I’m hoping five years down the road to actually have made some progress getting us settled in and decorated!
Wendy says
FIFTH Me. I am the worst at making future plans. To me, if I don’t want something now, how am I supposed to know that I’ll want it in 5 years?? Which is why I’m 35 and still unsure about the whole kids or no kids thing. So hopefully in 5 years, I’ll have an answer to that question at least.
Zee says
FIFTH ME: In five years, I see myself in one of two places: either hopefully wrapping up my PhD dissertation (applying to graduate programs now!), or having already received my Master’s, being partway through a PhD or happily entrenched in some NGO or Fish & Wildlife type work. Nature’s really my thing, so I’m bouncing around and studying different wildlife in different places right now, which means a change of address every 3-4 months. No hope of doing decorating as it stands, but in five years, I should be settled into a condo or a tiny house, with luck doing renovations and repainting the walls, all with the help of a very special certain someone… who will maybe have put a ring on it by then too. :)
Laura C says

I really hope that Five-Years-Into-the-Future Me is a lot like Right-Now Me — happily married, happily employed, happily living! Buuuuuuut hopefully the five-year future will include a home of our own (The Hubski loves him some Colorado, so maybe a mountain casa?).
And perhaps a kiddo… or two… or three.
And a Chihuahua. (I’m married to a man who digs Chihuahuas. Holla atcha, John! :P)
Kate says

In 5 years I hope to be married. I will probably be living in a different house and will have a different job (sadly my job has an expiration date in 2 years). It is crazy to think about those changes all at once, it just seems easier to roll with the punches. :)
