We’re back with another fantastic prize that THREE lucky winners will be able to put their names on. This one comes from Customized Stationary, a fun little Etsy shop that features playfully designed cards and prints that you can customize with everything from your first name to your family name. And they’ve kindly put together three sweet sets for our winners to choose from (each which includes a print and set of coordinating notecards) that we were so enamored with we couldn’t help but snag a set for ourselves.
We had trouble picking, but ended up going with the Carved Tree set, which we got to customize not only with our name and our initials carved into the tree, but also with our choice of colors. That way we ended up with a perfect-for-us set of stationary that was almost too good lookin’ to unwrap.
Want a chance to customize your own set? Here are the giveaway deets:
- PRIZE: 8×10″ print and coordinating twelve pack of 4 x 5.25 notecards in your selected design (Bird Family, Carved Tree or Stump). It’s a $27 value, but stay tuned for a YHL special discount at the end of the contest on Thursday.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CUSTOMIZE ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about one of the last handwritten letters your sent (or received). Seems to be a dying custom in the digital age, so what was memorable about a recent time you used snail mail to send something special?
- CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 2nd at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
- PRIZE SHIPS: USA Only
- THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I always send handwritten thank you’s but my absolute favorite are postcards. I always send them when I’m away on vacation or I use my own printed from Moo.com with photos that I took as my way of saying, “Hello”, “Congrats”,
“Thanks” and well, you get the idea :)

Never underestimate the power of a well written letter!!
Since I recently got married, I have been writing hand written thank you notes for the past few months and it continues. I think that everyone should write at least one note to someone special a month.

I add handwritten notes with every b-day, get well, etc card I send, so this prize would be awesome. I love getting notes and love writing to people. So oldschool and fun!

I write letters all of the time. Thank you notes, mostly. But I think handwritten letters are the most amazing gift you can give someone in 2009. Or any year for that matter. We have some of our favorite letters and notes others have written us framed and I keep a giant bowl of all of the letters we get on display until the bowl fills to the top. Then I sort, keeping the most special ones in a box.

Last week my boyfriend spent an entire ‘guys week’ backpacking Glacier National Park in Montana. He is also away on business this week, so it would be a while before we got to see each other again. So, I decided to send him away with a package of letters, so he had one to open everyday that he was backpacking! He left before I had them ready to go, so I overnighted them to one of his good friends, who delivered the letters to him right before he hit the trail :-) I spoke to him right after he finished the trip, and he loooooved the letters! He said he couldn’t wait to open one each day…it was like having me there with him. He said it made him miss me more! I used different stationary for each day…I love stationary!

The last real on paper letter that I wrote……to a dear older lady friend. Her name is Joann, she has been a mentor for my husband and I, since we were 11 and 12 years old. Joann was our sunday school teacher, youth leader, choir leader, piano teacher, a dear friend FULL of great wisdom. We sent her a letter, out of the blue, to tell her how much she meant to us. How she had helped to mold us into the adults we have become. It was honestly a very emotional letter to write, happy emotions though. Anyway, what a great way to get us back into the “writing” on paper mode. LOVE IT!!! Those are all great designs, the one you chose is perfect for you two.

Love the comment about the grandson having 80 people send a card to his grandmother for her 80th birthday. What a great memory. WHAT A PERFECT GRANDSON!!! ;-)

CUSTOMIZE ME. The last hand written note I received was from my good friend Kyndall who had found a card that she had asked all my bridesmaids to send me so she sent me the last one that she found and told me how she was thinking of me and how she loved me.

CUSTOMIZE ME!! Maybe it is because my charming Southern mom threatened me within an inch of my life, but I am a stickler for handwritten Thank You notes. Just last week, I wrote one to a friend for hosting my boyfriend and I for a night at her lakehouse. I hope hand a written note via snail mail isn’t a dying art!

The last handwritten note I sent was to my grandfather. Since my grandmother died last year, I promised to send him a postcard every month. A postcard is nice because it means I dont have to write too much, and has a photo for him to look at with his elderly eyesight.
ps no “customize me” as I’m not in USA.

I have never gotten a love letter from my husband and I’m trying to inspire him into writing me one by creating my own cards for b’day and Christmas and anniversaries and Father’s Day, hoping he’ll love them so much he’ll write me one!!!
I did have a “pen pal,” a guy I went to school with, whose name was Dan. And he was a writer. A real letter writer, postcard writer, journal writer. He sent me a postcard from every city he visited in Europe after we graduated. We exchanged letters and when I say his handwriting was half the value of the letter? Long, loopy f’s, g’s, j’s, y’s, q’s, p’s z’s and tall t’s, d’s, f’s, h’s, k’s, l’s and b’s. His writing looked almost like calligraphy, something straight out of the 1800s when everyone handwrote everything! Even if it was superficial fluff, everything carried more weight and importance ’cause he handwrote it!
I kept those letters and was, in fact, talking about them last week with a friend here at work. I think I’ll dig them out and enjoy them all over again!!!

How cute…I love the initials carved in the tree!
Three years ago, we were very fortunate to have many friends and family give us lovely gifts for our wedding, but it left many a thank you card to write. I will say it was a long list but I (I’ll give my hubby credit for writing a few to his college buddies) wrote them all and tried not to do the standard “Thank you for the gift, we appreciate it and will use it.” I tried to actually take some time and write a personal note to each person. Several folks even wrote notes back saying how thoughtful the thank you was…ha!

CUSTOMIZE ME! My grandfather is old-school all the way, and he has held on to the practice of writing notes on the same monogram stationery that he’s had since the 50s instead of sending emails. I love receiving them, and I know I’ll cherish them always–I keep them with a blue ribbon around them (to match the monogram ink) tucked away in the guest room.

Customize me! I work for an online company that sells furniture and all of our correspondence is done via email or telephone. We are a small business and are still in the growing stages. However, each customer that places an order I take the time to write them a personalized thank you note. I know the excitement that I feel when I open my mailbox to see a hand written envelope. It means so much more to receive something handwritten than a text message or an email.
The last hand written personal note that I sent was to my 5 year old niece thanking her for the lovely card that she spent time making and sending to me. Her entire heart went into sending something to “Aunt Balerie”. Our minds are so into technology (texting/emailing/internet) that sometimes we forget what it can do to someones day to receive something that we put so much heart into.

The most memorable handwritten note I received recently was a sweet note from our next-door neighbor, who is 84 years old and has lived in the neighborhood since the houses were built. She sent a picture of our dogs sniffing through the fence and told us how glad she was to have us next door. It made my day.

I whole heartedly believe in handwritten letters!!! It’s a dying breed!!! The most recent card I received was from my sister who had just had a baby. She managed to write a VERY LOVELY thank card with actual thought put into it. She has a 5 year old as well ~ So, if she can do it – anyone can do it!! I get SO tired of receiving generic thank you cards! i.e thank you for generic item. I’m sure we get great use out of it…BLAH!!!
I once made a 1st birthday “randsom” card for one of my friend’s kid. I went through some of my magazines finding the word “one” and the number “1” along with the birthday boy’s letters to spell out his name…I put it all on card stock and I think it came out great!!! Mine was one of a kind!!!
I SO hope I win this!!!!!

Customize me! These are awesome, right up my alley. The last handwritten notes I sent were thank you notes for my daughter’s first birthday party, but I’m planning on sending a special birthday package to my sister, who lives out of state. She misses home so much, and I know it will make her feel a tiny bit better to get a nice note from home!

I love writing and receiving handwritten notes. I love stationery. Just last week, I sent a lovely birthday card to a wonderful friend, and I often mail my children (who spend weekdays at their dad’s house) little notes to remind them how much I love and miss them (and for them to practice their reading). E-mail and e-cards can never replace a beautiful paper card with a unique message…..

CUSTOMIZE ME SOME NOTECARDS!
I absolutely LOVE sending handwritten notes. I hoard notecards like no one’s business. My favorite “notes” are to my grandparents. I am very close to them and used to live within an hour and a half of them in college. When I moved 1200 miles away, I had to come up with a way to stay in touch that didn’t become like a routine phone call. They love that I think of them, and it’s great to get little notes back from my grandpa, who has Alzheimer’s.

I own a small business and LOVE to hand write “thank you” notes to my customers when they order. I enjoy that little extra personal touch it gives each customer. I know I would be thrilled if I received a card or note in the mail thanking me for my purchase whenever I bought something.
Also, my husband and I just recently moved across the country away from everything familiar and sending cards of “thinking of you” or “hello” to family and friend from back home has been a way for me to feel connected in some way.
