Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

This year we will be entertained – which isn’t all bad – less work and stress!

To be a good guest, be on time if a meal is to be served. Bring an appetizer, wine, something to share. And don’t overstay your welcome! Oh, and be sure to thank the host/hostess for the invite. :)

My husband and I love to entertain. We love to cook and would rather spend a night at home with friends than out at a bar somewhere. We will be hosting our friends for a pre Christmas dinner and New Years.

We always entertain with great music, great food, and usually end up playing a few board games…drinks always help too!

Z ME! I love to host people but my family is so large we don’t usually have enough room for everyone. I think a courteous guest always offers to help the host in some way…passing out food or drinks, bring a dish, help clean up a little, etc.

Z ME!! I’m planning an impromptu cocktail party this Friday just for the girls. My key element is to serve up one kind of holiday themed cocktail- like a candy cane drink. That way you only have to buy 2 kinds of liquor instead of supplying several different ones for everyone to mix their own.

Z ME! This year we will be entertained at our parents’ homes since we will be transitioning between apartments and will actually be homeless for a few weeks.

As a guest, I always think that it is a good idea to be aware of the “rules” of the house by watching what your hosts do. If they take off their shoes when coming in, you should probably take off your shoes too…If they don’t leave anything out on the bathroom sink, you probably shouldn’t make your toiletries bag a home on the bathroom sink…if they put the toilet lid down, make sure you don’t forget to do the same, etc.

We have so much family all around town that we usually end up zipping all over the place in order to spend time with all of them. However, once the hustle and bustle are over, we like to have a nice, quiet evening at home where we can enjoy the decorations, a roaring fire and each other.

Z ME!! I love to entertain if only because it forces me to deep clean the house! This Christmas my sister in law and her family are coming to stay with us and we are hosting a house warming party to unveil our new home and all the changes we have made in the last 3 months! When I host I like to do all of the food prep and cleaning a day ahead to minimize the stress on the actual party day. Fresh flowers and candles always make me feel like my home is dressed for guests looks just a little more special!

So far, I haven’t hosted anything yet because my husband and I have yet to purchase our first home, but I look forward to the chance when I can. In the meantime, I enjoy going over others’ houses and being entertained. I always try to abide by the rules (i.e. using coasters, removing shoes before entering, etc.) in another person’s house, just to ensure I’m being a courteous guest.

Z ME!!! I will not host my own holiday party at my apartment, but I will help my parents host our annual family Christmas party at their house. We always have a signature holiday cocktail and special small gifts at each place setting. One year my mom found cheap/small frames and we framed old pictures (think baby pictures for the young ones or pictures from the 70’s for the older crowd) of each guest and used them to designate seats at the table.

I love to entertain, and am hoping the renovation will be done to have at least a holiday type party, even if it’s after Christmas. But, I don’t try to get too hung up on deadlines or the renovation will be more stressful, already missed thanksgiving:) But, I’d like to move in and finally be able to host a holiday and have both the divorced sides of the family come together, if Mom and Dad can stand it.

The last formal party I had was my Mom’s surprise 50th – it was a hoot! Mainly because I tried to cook. Best advise is make sure you enjoy yourself and let guests help out if they want, helps you and they enjoy being involved.

Z ME! Oh, would I love to entertain this year. However, the only entertaining I will be doing will be probably serving pizza and hot chocolate to a bunch of church friends helping us move in our house 6 days before Christmas. We’ve been undergoing a renovation and my husband has promised us in before the 25th. I will be a gracious guest at my mother-in-law’s (as I have been daily for the past YEAR!) and will contribute however I can as a host, but not really a host. I’m always in charge of the place settings and table decorations. It means a lot to see your name on a plate and know you were intended to be there.

We’re doing a little of both this year… Thanksgiving was at Mom’s in Georgia, First Christmas (my own new term, kind of like second breakfast with the hobbits) will be at our Nashville house in a few weeks, Day of Christmas will be at the in-laws on their Colorado ranch. I’m wishing for my first white Christmas in CO!
