An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Pamela says
HOMES ME! I would definitely love beautiful moldings around the windows which add such character, and also like them to be energy efficient so the home isn’t drafty. Also adore native white stone exteriors!

If I were to buy a new house, I would want it to have an extra room or two to be “common areas.” Our house now has one big main area that is the kitchen/dining room/living room, and the rest are bedrooms. I would love to have some extra rooms to be designated as a playroom, family room, office, guest room, etc.

I gotta have more than one bathroom, enough square footage, a good neighborhood, and a backyard. Oh, and I like a garage too! If I was really buying a house, though, I’d have to add a really good inspector to the list to make sure there were no horrible surprises! That’s what I really want: a house with no major problems!
Deborah says
HOMES ME!
I would probably say I would love to make sure the home had a craft/art room. This is of course a wish right? Nothing realistic or remotely possible. But a room for creating for both me and my kids tops the list.
Thanks!

If I were to buy a new home today it would be a little bigger than my current pad and it would be in the country with a wrap around porch! Though, I can’t really complain since this house was left to me in my Mom’s will so my family and I don’t have a house payment!

An actual stove! Our current house is an old duplex and our stove is so ridiculously tiny that you can’t fit a standard cookie sheet in the oven and even though there are 4 burners on the stove top you can’t use them all at once because the pans don’t fit!
