An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME!! I would feel so spoiled to have a laundry room inside the house, not off the garage like the current one in our 1970’s ranch.
Ann L. says
HOMES ME!
I’d love to have a functional fireplace (preferably wood-burning although I’d settle for gas) somewhere in the main living area downstairs. I just imagine it would be so cozy and warm on those dark and gloomy winter days.
Amy says
HOMES ME!
I would want a larger more level backyard, and maybe an extra bathroom. I definitely miss having a bathroom separate from my husband. I love him more than anything, but boys are just dirty, at least mine is.
sophie says
Homes me! If had my druthers, my ideal house would have a room of requirement (pace Harry Potter), a space that would appear whenever I needed it most. Sometimes that space would be a kitchen with all the goods; more often, though, I suspect taht that room would be a library where I could lose myself completely
Lulu says
HOMES ME! Oh I would definately get an awesome organized stamping/craft room just for me!
Briana says
HOMES ME!
I would love a main floor bathroom. We have a half bath in the basement but it rarely gets used, even by guests.
DawnSC says
HOMES ME! Hmm, I like our house currently, but I would definitely add more storage and a floor plan where the kitchen/dining room is next to our outdoor eating area.

homes me
a little bit bigger tv room – large enough to stow exercise equipment
Corrinne Geisler says
Homes me! Main floor laundry. I never thought it would be so hard to get to the basement to do laundry once we had a baby.
Marsha D says
HOMES ME!!!
I would definitely love a little more room. Possibly a gift wrapping room! haha! Or maybe even a sun room for reading on a sunny or rainy day.
Cheryl says

I really just want a bathroom that requires no renovation. Both of ours are bordering on squalid.

My next home NEEDS to have a bigger back yard!
Chelsey says

The hubs & I lived in an apartment for 3 years, and have now been in a townhome for 5 years. What do we want in our next home? PRIVACY!!!! Meaning, we want land between us & our neighbors… The rest of a house we can fix up & change to our liking, but it’s placement that you can never change. Live & learn! LOL…
Rita says
HOMES ME!!! I would like more square footage and a pantry!!!
Stephanie B says
HOMES ME!
A solid foundation in Michigan!!!! We want to relocate and renovate!
Julie Holmes says
HOME ME!!!! I would use this toward my new countertops!!! I’ve almost saved enough and that would do it for me! We refaced our cabinets ourselves and our old formica countertops and ugly ceramic sink are torturing me daily!
Celeste says
HOMES ME!
I’m looking for a large kitchen with a walk in pantry!
Mandy says
HOMES ME! An old house with charm in a walkable neighbourhood.
Dori says
HOMES ME! (please) Our house is currently under contract and I actually do have to find a new house by tomorrow ;) My must have is a flat yard so I can let my three boys out to run. (No they’re not dogs, but have the same amount of energy ;)

Mariangeles says

In my next house I would love a balcony off of the master bedroom overlooking the ocean :) Ahhhh…so serene!
Ali A says
HOMES ME! My must have for a house when we move out of our city condo is 4 bedrooms!
sarah k @ the pajama chef says
HOMES ME! when we buy a house (hopefully in the not-too-distant future) our nonnegotiables are living in an area where we can run from home (close to a trail, or with extensive sidewalks) as well as an enclosed outdoor area (screened in porch, sun porch, etc) for our cats to play. :)
audra says
HOME ME!!! If I was looking for a new home, I would say it would have to have a back yard. Our current home has a nice front and side yard, but no back yard. We literally have our pathetic 10’x10′ deck and then it goes straight down a ravine.
Tiffany says
HOMES ME!
Our dream house has more square footage and either needs to have a larger yard or be in a great urban area!
Kelly S says
HOMES ME!
We are currently under contract on a “new” to us home and our must have was a master bathroom!
kristen says

katie says
HOME ME!! We recently moved and I honestly hope to not move again for a very very very long time!! we LOVE our house and are slowly chipping away at projects to make it “ours!!”
Tracy P. says
HOMES ME! We’d love to have a house closer to work/school, and ideally one that is older so it has more character!
mandy pierce says
HOMES ME! We recently bought our first house, and it is everything a first house should be, and already has a lot of features I only hoped to have in my dream-forever-house one day! But our next home MUST have a larger/swankier kitchen, or at least more to work with to make it swankier in true DIY fashion!
Lindsey says
HOMES ME!
My next home would have to have a garage and a fireplace with a mantle prefect for hanging Christmas stockings.
Julie says
HOMES ME!
Land!!! We want a few acres to have a garden, chickens, etc. I wouldn’t care if we lived in a tent, just as long as we had some land.
Julie says
HOMES ME!
I would want a house with a big kitchen with an island that opens up to a 2 story family room!
Allyson says
HOMES ME PLEASE!
Cassie says
HOMES ME!
My next house will require a fenced yard that isn’t completely overrun with weeds. Fenced so that my boyfriend’s dog can come over, and not overrun with weeds so that I can focus more on the gardening aspect of having a yard rather than fighting the weeds in my lawn.
Laura C. says
“HOMES ME!”
Non-negotiable for us would be outdoor playspace for our soccer loving sons–and away from the road, to boot.
Cool giveaway! Thanks!
Steven Shearer says
HOMES ME!
As real estate people say Location, Location, Location. We recently moved into a smaller house as the neighborhood was 10 times better than our old one and only 5 minutes from my wife’s job. Not to say I wouldn’t love a bigger updated bathroom, a new kitchen etc. but those are things we can work on over time.
ScullyPA says
Homes Me!
I would really like to have a balcony where we could have our grill on the same level as our kitchen. Makes it a lot of work to grill when you have to go down to the basement to get to the grill.
stephanie says
HOMES ME! I want a kitchen/living area that’s more open…these rooms in our current house are too closed off and I can’t see the kiddos when cooking!
