An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! I would look for a new home with lots and lots of windows. Our current home is too dark, regardless of what I do. I need to see the sun!
Shauna says
HOMES ME! An eat-in kitchen would be a dream!
Hannah N says
Homes me! I would love a home with a larger living/kitchen area.
Rachel says
HOMES ME!
I would want a bigger kitchen in better colors. (We’re renting, so I can’t paint the monotone kitchen–the cabinets are basically the same color as the walls, and the counters and floors aren’t far off.)
Kimberly says
HOMES ME!
A fenced yard for sure!
A says
HOMES ME! Pool, a must have in FL
Emily says
HOMES Me! I want a house with CHARACTER!
Mike says
HOMES ME!
Four bedrooms would be nice. Our boys are tired of sharing a room.
Lisa says
HOMES ME! ooh, so fun. Since I’m dreamin’ here, I would love a home on a small lake so I could go water-skiing every day if I felt like it!
Angie says
Homes me! My house would have to be at least 4 bedrooms,3 baths and a bonus room for video games, movies, and my hubby’s guitars!
Hannah says
Homes me!
I would look for some place with a workshop or a garage that could be converted into a workshop. Oh, and closets, closets are important when you’re drawn to 80-100 year old homes ;)
Danielle says
Homes me!
The husband and I plan on building our home ourselves out of concrete, just the perimeter walls. We live in Oklahoma y’all, tornado alley. (He is getting his doctorate in civil engineering right now and loves concrete. Haha.) What we really want though is about 200 acres and a huge open concept living area.

“HOMES ME!”
I would like a smaller house believe it or not. But I would want more property and better storage spaces built into it. I would also like to have a professional organizer come and help me get rid of a lot of my stuff so I could move into my new tiny house clutter free!
Sara says
HOMES ME! I would look for a place with heating vents in the floors, not in the ceilings (as our current house has). Or with some other way to keep the downstairs warm in the winter!
anna says
homes me! i would love a full, finished basement. we have a scary cellar now, not fun during tornado season!
Elizabeth says
HOMES ME! Please! My next home must have an open concept so I can cook and play traffic cop to my two awesome little boys at the same time.
Kim c says
Homes me. Our next home will have more room for my parents to live with us. The older I get the more important family becomes to me.
Jenn says
HOMES ME! Definitely a big backyard.
Susan M. says
HOMES ME!
A finished basement would be SO nice! Otherwise my current house is perfect :)
Ahsamon says
Homes Me!
If I were to buy a house today, my must-have would be lots of land! I love animals and want to have room to have a big family with plenty of room to roam. :)
Jen says
Homes Me! A washer and dryer is a must…we live in a condo and a laundry room on the first floor and it’s a pain! Other musts include 2 bathrooms, one just isn’t cutting it and some fenced in outdoor area for the pooch.
Aimee C. says
HOMES ME! We just bought a new house and a big kitchen was what we were looking for!
Rachel says
HOMES ME!!
Where to start- I would love a three car garage, large, open kitchen and an extra bedroom!
Lyndsey M. says

I’d love for my house to have an extra space for crafting and creating.
Julianne says
HOMES ME!
We’re looking for a place with a yard that’s close to both of our work locations. This is a great site.
It’s so much fun that you’re doing give-aways for each-other.
Kristy H. says
HOMES ME! Please!
We need a 2nd bathroom! With baby #2 on the way, a third bedroom would be a nice bonus too… but the bathroom is becoming a must. Pretty soon we’ll have to look into at least getting a toilet in the basement or something. Yikes!
Layne says
Homes me! I would look for a garage I could park in!! I see the neighbors do it – I know it must be possible :)
Sarah Snell says
Homes me!
We have been in our house for a year last month. It was a great find after looking for several months. The house is perfect for what we were looking for.
I think for our next property I will push for a double driveway. That way there is more concrete play area and we don’t have to play musical cars…
Megan says
Homes ME!
Found our DREAM HOME while “not” house shopping. Has canal view, front porch, two story and so much more.
Valerie says
Homes Me!
I would love a nice, updated kitchen with lots of use-able counter space!
Megan says
HOMES ME!
If we were lucky to buy a new house today, we would want it to be a rambler/ranch style AND be much newer or updated. We aren’t the fix-it type. More of the paint it and hope it looks better type.
Lindsay says
Homes Me!
Bigger kitchen. My kitchen is a nice size, but I want the MTV Cribs type kitchen (This doesn’t have to be realistic does it?!). I want the french door fridge loaded with Cristal!
Kim says
“HOMES ME!”
A bigger, nicer kitchen!
Maryellen says
Homes me! A big backyard and an area with great schools for the kids!
Courntey H says
HOMES ME!
I’d probably look for something a little older than our current house. It just doesn’t have as much character as older homes do! But $500 could probably help add some character and charm :)
Jenny davis says
Homes me!! We need more square footage with 3 kids and hubby working out of the house!
Katie says
Homes me!
In a new house I have a lot of things I would do differently. First floor laundry would be a must have or maybe a doors to the backyard that don’t involve the gaaage door. Hard to complain though. We have a beauiful house that is perfect for us!
Katie says
Wow! crazy typos! Sorry!
Liz says
HOMES ME!
I live in the city, and am dreaming of some nice, open, green outdoor space. Preferably that doesn’t back up to a smelly alley like I have now.
jennifer says
Homes me! If I were buying a new home it would need to have the perfect space for a playroom – spare bedroom, full basement – whatever, just a place for kiddos to play (and contain all the mess)!
Roya says
HOMES ME!
For us, the most important thing would be location and we love an open floor plan!
Leanne says
HOMES ME!
Something that requires less work :) Maybe the kitchen and bathroom are already (relatively) updated and I wouldn’t have to worry about them so much, like I do with my current home. And a dishwasher is a must!
Anna says
Homes Me!
Well – we just found our new place but we needed AT LEAST 1.5 bathrooms – lucky for us we found 2 :)
Shandra says
Homes Me!
I would look for something with rooms with a little more square footage than I have now……… otherwise, loving my pretty new pad.
Tiah says
HOMES ME! I just bought my first home last year and it is a “fixer uper.” I have been doing projects little by little as I can afford to…this would be a huge help!
Michele Stanton says
HOMES ME!
I would insist on more natural light. Our current home faces north and we get very little natural light except for our east facing bedroom windows. Next time I’ll look for a brighter home!
Tammy says
HOMES ME!
I’d love a well manicured fenced in back yard. I love my dog and what her to have a more dog friendly space :)
Abby3 says
HOMES ME!!!
If i were to buy a new house today, I would definitely require more than one bathroom! A sunroom, deck, kitchen island, and hardwood floors would be nice too… ;)
Bryan says
HOMES ME!
We love the home (our first) we are in now, but you can always hope for more, right! An open concept first floor and a master bathroom would be a great upgrade.
Teresa says
HOMES ME!
A mudroom!
Sarah Bustard says
HOMES ME!
If I were to buy a house right now, a laundry room would be on the top of my list. Shared laundry and laundromats are things I would love to say good bye to.
