An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME!!
I would definitely want a good layout, great schools and lots of storage.
Sara says
HOMES ME! I would love to have a bigger garage (as would my husband). A second full bathroom would also be nice (we have a mad sketchy half bathroom in the basement that I refuse to use…for anything).
Sarah says
HOMES ME! I would want better lighting throughout my house (it’s an old house with small windows) and larger bedrooms!
Steph says
HOMES ME!
My must-have is a decent sized yard.
Kendra says
Homes me!
As much as I love DIY, if I could buy a new home I’d go for something that only needed cosmetic work and not the major structural/functional work that our current home reno has required.
sarah k says
HOMES ME!! We’re looking to move next spring and I definitely would like a house where my commute will be shorter.
ali says
HOMES ME!
I would love to have a bigger pantry and better coat storage – so we could use the money for creative solutions within our nearby mudroom!
Cindy says
HOMES ME! I would like more windows.
Amanda S. says
HOMES ME! My must have in a new house would be a bigger closet. I don’t even need a huge one, just one a little bigger than my current one, which is the size of a hall closet (it is a 1950’s house after all!)
Vicki says
HOMES ME!
We just bought a new home and are in the process of renovating it. However, I guess if we bought a new home today, I would probably get something with a slightly bigger yard.
Heather says
HOMES ME!!
I would be looking for an extra bedroom….nothing huge but we like to have a spare room for people to stay over or to store extra stuff.
Lindsay L says
Home me!!!
a better layout and a newer house. I love our 1950s fixer upper but next time I would buy something much newer and cleaner. unless we found an
old farmhouse that could steal my heart and make me change my mind :)
Leah says
HOMES ME! A new house would have to have dark wood floors and thick trim/crown molding (or cheap enough for us to change out the flooring immediately!).
Rachel says
Homes Me!
We are in the market for an older home that needs some cosmetic love. I also really want a fenced yard for our dogs to play!
Shawn says
HOMES ME!
Our next house must have a workshop space for me
Angelo says
HOMES ME!
I nice garage or some form of workspace!
Jessica says
“HOMES ME!”
I would love a big beautiful deck for entertaining!
Lindsay says
HOMES ME!
I want our next house to have a third bedroom – the twins aren’t going to be able to share forever!
Rachael S says
Homes Me!
I love our current little urban condo, but I’d love an extra bedroom in our next space.
rachel p says
HOMES ME! Definitely more square footage for my two crazy boys to stretch out a bit more. Oh, and a mudroom would be awesome because those two boys sure do get dirty!
Lindsay T says
Homes me! A must is 3 bedrooms, or at least 1 bedroom and 2 office/den/spare rooms. A girl’s gotta craft, and a guy’s gotta compute!
Desiree says
Homes me!
We just bought a new house a couple of months ago. Our previous home was built in the early 50’s, so our master closet was barely deep enough to hold hangers, and our master bath was so tiny we didn’t have enough wall space to install a towel bar. Our non-negotiable was his and hers sinks and a walk in closet.
They’ve completely restored our sanity.
Beata says
HOMES ME!
If I were to purchase a home today, a must have would be the location. It would need to be closer to work. My current drive is such a pain.
Andrea says
Homes me!
I want a back door! We have a front door and a side door, but no door that goes directly to our back yard.
Ashley Patterson says
Homes Me!!
Me and my husband actually are closing on a house in two weeks! As crazy as it sounds, my must have was a pantry. Our apartment didn’t have one and it was insane. My husband’s must have was a man cave. My other must have was square footage. Even though we don’t have children yet, I wanted a house that we could grow into.
Meggan says
Homes Me!
My new home will have to have COUNTER SPACE! I have an L-shaped kitchen with a huge 2 level L-shaped island (but a 1200 SF house). When we upgrade homes in the coming year, i will need LOTS of counter space. I’m spoiled right now, and don’t think I could ever go back.
Hattie R says
HOMES ME!
A home that is closer to work definitely tops the list for me (I commute 1.5-2 hours both ways, ugh). Other than that lots of windows for natural light and a big yard would be the best.
Leslie says
Homes me!!!
Britta says
HOMES ME! I don’t even have a house so virtually anything I could get at this point would be awesome. At the top of my wish list though would probably be a giant wraparound porch so I could sit outside and enjoy the very short summer we have in Canada!
Tracy says
HOMES ME!!!! We actually just bought our first home this last year, so we LOVE it! We actually enjoy a smaller sized home, but one thing I’d like oversized is a laundry room! Fitting two (one day!) dog kennels and a sink and a counter and hang drying! Tho I can’t complain because I don’t do the laundry in our house ;)
Mel Schroff says
Homes me!
I think if we were to buy a new house today, it would have to have a garage. My grandfather had a garage with a tool/workshop attached that I always wanted for my own home.
Kathryn says
Homes me!
I really love my current home (though it is a work-in-progress) but if I were looking…a foyer would top my “want” list. A real, honest-to-goodness foyer with a coat closet and a tile floor so I don’t have to schlep my wet coats (and beagle) thru the living room.
Amanda says
Homes Me!
The most important thing would be the neighborhood
SG says
HOMES ME! I really want just one more room, some outdoor space, and some more storage space . . .
Brianne says
HOMES ME! For my next house, I would love to have a larger (and flat) yard for my daughter to be able to do more outside.
Rikke says
HOMES ME!
Although we love our house (and the location), our house is fairly small. Next time around we’ll be looking for moe square footage and a larger backyard (and maybe some exposed beams? Just a thought…).
Becky S. says
“Homes Me!”
Andrea says
Holmes Me like Sherlock. Not really sure what that means, but I love me some Sherlock.
CarrieO says
HOMES ME!
Considering I drive an hour to work each day I would definitely move closer but I also love nice windows! ;)
Michelle N says
HOMES ME!
I already own a condo but what I would really love is space to entertain! A big yard for parties will do!
Michelle says
HOMES ME, please! If I could handpick a home feature, it would quickly prove that I’m a parent – I’d take a good public school district & land to roam.
Helen says
HOMES ME!
Tiffany P says
HOMES ME!!!!
OPEN FLOOR PLAN!!!! (i got slightly overexcited about that concept!)
Linds says
HOMES ME!
I more updated kitchen and a slightly more open concept layout wouldn’t be amiss.
chase says
HOMES ME!
I actually love our current house…but a shaded/screened back porch would be lovely since I live in Mississippi and mosquito season seems to be Feb-Nov.
Nancy says
HOMES ME! Next home has to have an attached garage, no more shoveling out the car for me.
Theresa says
HOMES ME!
I want a bigger yard.
Melissa Barnes says
HOMES ME!
My new homes must have would be a fireplace and or a window seat.
Laura says
HOMES ME!
We would look for a house with a fenced-in yard for our three dogs, after living in a house with a yard I don’t think they could ever go back, and a laundry room, because our machines are in the garage and I dream about having laundry in the house :)
Heather says
HOMES ME!
I would love a Butler’s Pantry because that’s a passport to being legit fancy.
