An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

More square footage for sure! We’re in a tiny place now so a bigger one would be awesome.
Anne says
HOMES ME! My new house would need a bigger backyard. I have two little boys who need more space to run and get some energy out.
Gillian @ GrowingUpGillian says
HOMES ME! A shower. Definitely. We just bought a 125 year old house that just has a tub and what I’m missing most is my ability to clean myself in a vertical position. Other than that…a fenced in yard.
Elizabeth says
HOMES ME!
While I love our new house, I’d pick one just like it with a tiny bit of a backyard. Someone hardscaped ours and it’s nice for adults, but not so much for little boys.
Meghan says
HOMES ME!
I’d love a front porch!
Katy says
HOMES ME! If I were to buy a new house tomorrow it would have to be on a lake!
Dinka says
HOMES ME!
A house with newer plumbing! Pipe just exploded in our place last week and – thanks to insurance hang-ups – we are STILL without water! Talk about starting the holidays off with a bang…or maybe just wet floors! lol!!! Not something I’d risk again!

HOMES ME!
I think I’d like to have a little more land. Not too much though, there’s only so much yard work I can handle :)
Diana says
HOMES ME!!
We need more square footage! Baby #2 is on the way and we’re running out of room! :)
Diana T. says
HOMES ME!
I love, love, love our current home, but the yard does require a lot of work. Maybe something that required a little less mowing would be nice…and with a fence for the dog!
Lindsey H says
Homes Me! We would look for somewhere with a little bit bigger yard – we have a small yard but live in a city so they are hard to come by!
Kate says
Homes me! I would look for a kitchen with a nice layout and tons of counter space!
Allison M says
Homes Me!
Hardwood floors are my must have. :)
Raina says
HOMES ME!!! Our next house must have a garage! Oh, and more square footage for sure!
Trish says
Homes me!
I’d definitely want a larger, flatter backyard that I can fence in for my chihuahua to enjoy :)
Heather says
HOMES ME…..um everything because we are home shopping right now!
Sharon P says
HOMES ME! I would love to have a larger dining room and deck.
Tracy says
HOMES ME!
Slightly better layout/flow…
Alleene Smith says
HOMES ME! A gas stove is a must. A smaller, brick ranch is what we’re looking for as we prepare to retire and downsize.
Denise says
HOMES ME!
Definite going up on the square footage. And a certain location we love.
carrie says
Homes Me! I love our 1924 craftsman but one bathroom is not enough for two people, and storage leaves something to be desired.
Kelly says
“HOMES ME” Please
As much as I love my apartment, I would be thrilled to have a separate bedroom, my own washer/dryer, and some type of private outdoor space to call my own
Libby says
HOMES ME!
My next house needs to have at least 1 1/2 bathrooms…right now 1 bathroom just isn’t cutting it. I’d also love ceilings that are higher than 8′ and a deck or a porch.
Lisa says
Home me! Please! If I could go back again I would like an attached garage. We purchased our home before children and winter in the North East can get cold and wet and it would be nice to keep the kid’s warm.
Katie R. says
HOMES ME! I could really work with anything, but would love a finished backyard with a gorgeous deck overlooking a lake. :)
Tracey says
HOMES ME!
I would love more a covered outdoor space with a swinging bed and outdoor kitchen.
Robin Lynn says
Errr… Homes me. Oh iPhone autocorrect…
Erin B says
HOMES ME! With two cats and a dog, I would love, love, love wood floors throughout our whole house (bedrooms..kitchen..family room…everywhere!)
Hannah K says
HOMES ME! A next have for my next home is an amazing and large kitchen!
Jeannie says
HOMES ME! If we moved now, it would be to a bigger house that is a little closer to the ocean.
Maggie says
HOMES ME!
A great location and lot are the must haves!
Allison says
Homes me!
We are desperate for a bigger kitchen. Our tiny one isn’t much bigger than Clara’s play kitchen!
Jenna C says
HOMES ME!
I love my home, but I wish it had a laundry room instead of just a closet in the kitchen, boo :(
erin says
Homes me!
A kitchen with a pantry.
Amanda B says
HOMES ME!!! If I were to buy a new home today, I’d definitely want a bigger yard and, if possible, a nice fence for our doggy.
Nan says
Homes me! Small, energy efficient, and utilizing universal design principles. I want my next home to be my last, so it needs to be something I can manage myself and eventually allow me to age in place.
Teresa C says
HOMES ME! I would definitely choose a house with a master bathroom. I’m so tired of sharing with the kids!
Angie says

Heather says
HOMES ME! ummm everything we are home shopping right now!

HOMES ME!
We just had this discussion the other night. The thing at the top of my list? A laundry room on the same floor as the bedrooms! I am sooooo sick of carting load after load of laundry up the stairs!
Pamela says
HOMES ME!
I love my house, but would really like a connecting garage.
hayley says
Homes me, please!
Sandra says
“HOMES ME!”
We actually just purchased a home and the big thing on our list was a very low maintenance yard.
Amy says
Homes Me! If my husband and I bought a house today we would want a yard big enough for kids to play in but that wouldn’t require hours of upkeep. We would also want a finished basement (basements aren’t common where I’m from – Alabama – but they’re awesome here in DC!) and a soaking tub that’s deep and big enough for two.
Tracie@MiddleClassMod says
Homes me! My next house? Two full bathrooms.
CR says
HOMES ME!!!
All I want is laundry and a dishwasher.
kelsey_tish says
HOMES ME!
The top of my must have list is a pantry and a bigger kitchen! plus a flat backyard.
Randee J. says
HOMES ME!
We’d need a 3/2 (at least) a yard with a fence for our dogs and baby, and a decent kitchen and living room. These are the basics more would be a plus =)
Shawna says
HOMES ME!! I would have a giant laundry room with an island in the middle for folding clothes. With five kids I spend a lot of time in the laundry room, almost as much time as in the kitchen :)
