An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME!
I would love to have an open kitchen where guests can gather and a wrap-around front porch!
Katie LaBranche says
Homes me!! Big, fenced in yard is @ the top of our list!
Madeline says
Homes me!
Our next home has got to have a yard, even just a little one – some green space would be so nice!
KL says
HOMES ME!
There is no way I could ever afford a house (or even an apartment) in the greater NYC area, but if I were to buy one, it would have to be in walking distance to transit and MUST have a washer/dryer!
Kristina says
HOMES ME
If I were to buy a new home today it would HAVE to have a driveway! My current home has off street parking and I’m always so worried I will walk out to my car with a nice big ding in it! I would also like a house with a useable basement…my house was built in 1920 with a dirt basement that has since been paved. My 6’5 dad has to duck the entire time he’s down there! He doesn’t live there but I’m sure that other tall people will have that issue and I’m semi worried for resale! Love you guys!

If I was to buy today, it would need a tidy little yard and a library. Oh, and a place to sleep and eat, etc. I suppose.
Laurie M. says
HOMES ME!
Lots and lots of closet space.
Meg @ halfhippie says
HOMES ME!!
We’re looking for more acreage for our little farm :)
Amy G says
Homes Me!
Definitely need bigger closets!!
Kisha says
HOMES ME!
The biggest must have is good bones so even if it’s in poor shape, I can whip it into something better. And space. Ah, space to fill!
Thanks!
Robin says
Homes Me! I would definitely have to have more closets!
Kim says
Homes Me!!
More square footage especially in the BATHROOMS but otherwise, I just love our little home. We’re still improving it of course but loving the “in progress” as well!
Jessica says
HOMES ME!! I’d look for a home with an extra room in the same neighborhood. We live in an amazing area, but in planning for the future, more space would be ideal.
Pierrette says
HOMES ME!
My next home will be only one level with an open floor plan.
Ellen says
Homes me!
I’d love a flat, enclosed back yard. Also, a more open floor plan between kitchen and family room.
Lisa says
HOMES ME!
A full basement. We sacrificed a basement for a crawl space in our current home because we loved everything else about it. For our dream home, we’d love a ranch with a walk-out basement. I envision a glorious storage room with custom built shelving and labels. *sigh

HOMES ME!
My husband and I already have a “needs” list going for our home purchase. #1 on the list would be space…we need a huge yard. We are still trying to figure out where in the country (or world?) this house with a big yard will be!
Mahareen says
Homes Me! I’m hoping our next house will either be a big reno or a new construction, so we can pick everything exactly as we want it :)
Cady says
HOMES ME! I can adapt to most anything but the one feature I need in a home is for it to have big trees nearby.
Jessica Feinberg says
Homes ME!! I would want more storage space. :)
Evelyn Ranney says
Homes Me!
Our current house is very small (about 850 square feet). The only thing I would change about it would be a slightly larger master bedroom. At 10×12, it really limits furniture placement!
Lisa C says
HOMES ME!!!
My commute is great. But, I would love an extra bedroom and playroom for my 3 children. Less toys in our livingroom then..
Halima says
HOMES ME! In my new home my top 2 things that I want are a bigger kitchen and more living/storage space.
Justine says
Homes me!
One thing is impossible! we’re house hunting right now so there are many things on our list! But overall I guess more square footage.
Jeanne says
HOMES ME! Lots and lots of land!!
krystle says
HOMES ME!
i just want a home. period. after a series of unfortunate events me and my kids are living with a relative and i would LOVE to just be able to find an affordable place to call home.
Chloe says
HOMES ME! We just bought our (theoretically) forever home over the summer, but if for some reason we had to move, then my must-have would be a large lot with a wooded back yard (but one that gets sun too).
Tammy Steffens says
Homes me, please!
allison says
Homes me! And I am desperate for a bigger kitchen.
Katie says
HOMES ME! My biggest requirement would be SPACE! You can remodel almost any room, but it’s so much harder to add square footage. Room to grow is what I’d love. :)
Tiffany says
Homes me! Fireplace and closer to work
Julie says
HOMES ME! Please!
We are putting our townhouse on the market in a couple months and looking for a bigger place. A big yard is a must for our dog!
mary says
Homes me! Would definitely have a garage :)
Laura says
HOMES ME!
I’d like more storage areas, like in a basement, attic, etc. Oh, and a theater room while we are at it. :)
Jennifer Scott says
HOMES ME!
Fortunately I have the home I want. A great neighborhood, great school, and it’s filled with love!
Monica says
HOMES ME!
I would look for a place with a bigger kitchen, a garage, and some outdoor space. I love our townhouse and could be happy here for a long time, but we have no garage, no private outdoor space, and a small (although super cute) kitchen.
Meagan says
Homes me!
A huge dining room!
Kate R says
HOMES ME! Please!
Mary Hall says
Homes me!
A bigger bathroom would be at the top of my list, with a huge walk in shower! I’m tired of my current tiny bath.
Jen says
Homes me!
We’re in the process of trying to buy a short sale, and I’m rather in love with it already, but a few of my favorite features are: master bathroom, cute balcony off the master bedroom and loads of natural light!
Janelle says
HOMES ME!! Our next home will be all about location. Its so key in Northern Virginia. Good commute options, schools, and outdoor options. You never find the “perfect” house, you just need to make it your home and find a way to work with what you have.
Katie F says
HOMES ME! I would def look for a great neighborhood with great walkability (#makingupwords) aka lots of trees, close to shops/restaurants and stroller-friendly!
Zoe Selva says
HOMES ME!
Nothing beats a safe neighborhood – that would be my number one.
Sara says
HOME ME!
My husband and I rent so just having a home of our own would be awesome. We definitely want a ranch so everything is all on one level, and a nice open kitchen/living layout.
Cindy says
Homes Me!
I am a simple gal who would just plain love to have a sink in her laundry room.
Mandy says
Homes me! I would definitely look for a slightly larger house in a more kid friendly neighborhood.
Emily S says
HOMES ME!!
I’d like a bigger backyard for our basset hound, Freddie. We have a small one now, but he gets bored very quickly. I wish we had gotten a home with enough room for him to run and sniff around until his heart’s content!
Dacia @ Lemon Drop Life says
HOMES ME!
I wish we had a basement so that would be my must have!
Natalie says
“HOMES ME”
I’m desperate for a third bedroom. My kiddos don’t do well sleeping in the same room which may or may not mean my son currently sleeps in a pack ‘n play in our master closet.
