An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

I would like to live in a safe neighborhood with a good sense of community, and I’m desperate for a laundry room in my house. I’m sick of sharing with an apt complex!

Must Haves would be a location closer to the city, more than 1 bathroom, and something much newer than the century old house we have now!

A second bathroom! Our growing family needs more than one place for “personal business!”

Hi – great giveaway! My must have would be a low-country coastal cottage on a waterfront lot (river, marsh, ocean) with a swimming pool! I can dream right? I live on a waterfront lot now but would love a swimming pool.
Thanks and Merry Christmas… Tracy@CottonPickinCute

I would love a lil backyard with enough land I could grow my own veggies…. Right now I’m in a condo and haven’t mastered potted plants…
Nicole says
HOMES ME!
I would have to have a big fenced in yard with some sort of privacy!
Leslie says
HOMES ME!
I want a kitchen. A kitchen that I design, instead of the 1950’s kitchen I currently have.
Tonya S says
Homes me!! My next home MUST have a washer/dryer room INSIDE! I swear I’m gonna go crazy! :)
quyen says

I’d want a home with only one kind of flooring; all tile or all wood, no carpet.

It would be in RVA!

In my pretend new house, the must-have would be a newer house or a better maintained old house. Oh, and a bigger bathtub would be the cherry on top!

As someone who has never bought a house, I think I would be looking for a place that we can grow into and be in for awhile. Ooh, and definitely a backyard – we can’t have a dog where we rent, but it’s on our wish list once we get a place of our own.

I would look for a bigger, better laundry room without a view to the living room!
Megan says
HOMES ME!
I grew up in the country, and curretly live close to the city…no view. :( SO…I would look for a place with a view.

HOMES ME!!!
I would have a walk-in closet! After living off of dressing racks in the hall (550 square feet in downtown DC!), I’m ready for some space!
Megan says
HOMES ME! I’d want a large kitchen, preferably set up for gas cooking!
crystal b says
HOMES ME! It’s so hard to pick just one must-have, but I think it would be to get off our busy street. We have 100s of trucks (not even exaggerating) that go by every day, and they hit lots of pot holes along the way. Very annoying.

HOMES ME!
That’s a hard one… In one hand I would love to have a guest bedroom, right now the third bedroom is being converted from guest bedroom to nursery, but again I have some guests that get too comfortable and not having a guest bedroom is a good excuse. ;-)
Tara says
Homes Me, Please! What would I do differently? Buy a house with two stories instead of one….with a kitchen far away from the family room so I could jam while the rest of the family watches tv!

Carolyn Ellsworth says
Homes Me! A bigger kitchen. I could list all the details, but I would probably run out of room. I love out ’56 1250 sq. ft. home, but oh the day when I will have a bigger kitchen!

I would look for a ranch with a basement. An older home with a bit of character and plenty of windows. But most important of all, it would need to be far enough away from the city lights that I could see the stars.
Connie says
HOMES ME!
My current home is wonderful and has lots of potential to make it more comfy. Of course there are things on my “wishlist” that are not in my home. My number one must have would be a “Master Suite” larger bedroom, walk-in closet, larger master bath with a “tub”. Sounds like more space, more cleaning.
Ann says
Homes Me! I’d want a basement and a fourth bedroom, if we were looking to buy again. But at least we like the house we’re in now, since those extras would cost a pretty penny in our area!
Nichole says
HOMES ME! I would love to have a basement for storage/extra hang-out space….and a place to go in case of a tornado!

That’s easy – my husband and I are currently looking for a house with acreage. I don’t even care what the house looks like, because we are now experienced DIYers. But you can’t DIY more land, and that’s what we dream of having.

Homes me! Would be nice in a new home: a better walk score.
Michelle says
Homes me!! A big, big front porch. I always wanted a home with a porch deep enough to sit on even when it’s raining hard. Deep enough and wide enough for an old fashioned porch swing, plenty of rocking chairs and room for a table to play checkers on.
Shae says
Homes me, please! I would buy a home with bigger bedrooms and more storage space!
Kelsey says
Homes Me! Hmm…In my next house, I’d want a big laundry room! With enough room for a drying rack! :)

HOMES ME!
My boyfriend and I currently live in an adorable bungalow. The basement is finished, so we have MORE than enough room. Except in the master bedroom. It’s barely big enough to walk around. And a master bath would be nice!
MamaG says
HOMES ME! Probably more square footage, especially with another little one on the way. We’re trying our best to create new storage nooks around the house and purge, purge, purge. But at the end of the day it’d be nice to have more room for the kiddos to just run around and be kids.
christina says
HOMES ME! Ffor our next house I would find something with a basement. All the creepy crawlies in the crawl space suck!
Liz says
HOMES ME! We’re still waiting to buy our first home. One of our musts is a wood-burning fireplace!
