An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes me!
I am a single girl on my own so everything is about location! I like to be near the city and close to everything. I just put on offer on a house this morning. Fingers crossed!
Kathi says
HOMES ME!
Our next home MUST have an en suite for the master, larger closets and a pantry in the kitchen…all things we desperately miss in our current house. My husband bought this house when he was single and you can tell based on the things it’s missing.

French doors to the outside!
Cate Z says
Homes me!! A large picture window for my cat to sunbathe in, and a porch and yard for weekend lounging :)
Sarah B. says
HOMES ME! I would want a larger master bath and 2 walk in closets – sharing a closet with the hubs is getting miserable!!
Heather H says
HOMES ME! I would give my eyeteeth for a mudroom. It drives me bonkers to deal with wet & muddly clothes and shoes in my kitchen.
MacKenzie says
Homes me! Pahleas! I would do a little landscaping.
Stacey says
HOMES ME! Would love to be close to work in a safe neighborhood with lots of space to walk the dog
Henry says
HOMES ME!
Oh. My. God. More than one bathroom, please Jesus help us.
Jessica says
Homes Me!
If I were to buy a new home I would definitely buy one with a 2nd bathroom. Having a family of 5 with only one bathroom has its challenges!

HOMES ME!
Since I currently live in a small condo with a shared roofdeck, I’d make a private outdoor space a must-have (porch / deck / yard / whatever)
Meagan says
Homes me!
Definitely a second bathroom!
Brittany Tolman says
HOMES ME!
I would want a home with great bones that we can remodel and make our own. And something with a big yard for sure.
alisha says
HOMES ME!
A must have for a new home would be larger master bath or space for a new one!
Shanoah says
HOMES ME!
Our next home will definitely need more square footage, likely in terms of an in-law suite. Gotta plan for the parents!
Susan says
HOMES ME! Granite countertops and a very efficient heating/cooling system.
Jenna says
Homes me! Would love any house that isnt next door to my in laws.
Meghan says
HOMES ME! a wood burning fire place :)
Karen T. says
Homes me!
I’d want a giant mudroom. Giant! So giant that each person can have their own closet, with ALL of their gear in it, so we don’t have to stash it away for every season. I can see it now….
jessie says
Homes me! More Bathrooms, the one is just not doing it for me.
Kelly P says
HOMES ME! My only must have is a neighborhood I love, because the rest can change. Although, that was my philosophy going into this house and it has been SO MUCH WORK. Perhaps I should rethink that….
Stephanie says
HOMES ME!
Our next home needs to have more separation between the main living room and the kiddo’s bedroom. We have to lock ourselves in the den after bedtime. :)
Cher says
Homes me! Since I just signed on the dotted line 3 months ago, I can’t see ANYTHING that would make me do it again… except maybe a indoor pool. But first, I’d have to win the lottery.
Amelia says
Homes ME! I wish we had a first floor bathroom so my Grandma who can’t walk up the stairs could come live with us as she can’t live alone anymore.
rachael says
Homes me!! I would definitely buy a house with a better front entrance, or mudroom. We are very limited for space in our 1940’s house!
Krista says
HOMES ME!
All of the above. Including the helipad :)

My next house will have an en suite with a soaker tub!!!!!
Elaine says
Homes me! I’d want a pool.

I currently live a mile from my work an that is the perfect distance. If we were looking for a new house I would want it close to work too!
Julia says
Homes me!
If I was going to buy a house, I think my one requirement would be greenspace. I’ve been living in cities and apartments the last 5 years and I miss having my own trees!
Emily-Jane @ Not A House, But A Home says

Lacy says

Tons of must haves but especially more than 2 bedrooms!
Nikki says
HOMES ME!
Our bathroom is half updated / half stuck in 1981. I can’t stand it anymore! It needs finishing. ASAP.
Bonnie says
HOMES ME!
I would look for at least double the square footage. I don’t care if most of the house is empty. I’m so tired of being cramped into our tiny house! I need space!
Stephanie says
HOMES ME!
The one thing that we’re missing in our current house is a comfy den – we’ve transformed the living room into a decent substitute, but it’s not the best place for comfy tv nights – too many windows and doors and not enough wall space.
Laura says
Homes me! I’d love a home, period. We’re still renting a small one-bedroom. It’d just be nice to have a place I could paint the walls or nail holes and not have to worry about the deposit.
Kelsy says
HOMES ME!
My husband requires a 2 car garage! No scraping ice or snow off his precious cars :)
tara says
Homes me!
I think I’d like a house with a little mudroom in order to organize (hide) all the stuff we bring in from school/errands/car! :)
Kirsten says
HOMES ME!
Ah, I just recently moved into a new place after living in a 900 sq/ft apartment for 8 years. It was perfect at first, but after gradually adding 2 65 lb dogs and 1 195 lb man, it was time to upsize. My “must haves” were definitely a garage and a back yard for the aforementioned 130 lbs of dog that needed to be walked (and picked up after) several times a day. For my next move there are definitely a few more things I would like to have… but for now I am happy with more room, a garage, and a yard.
Ryan says
Homes Me…
…a space large enough to soundproof for my drums. Theyre sitting in the closet of our guest bedroom. Townhouses aren’t right for banging (the drums I mean).
Steph says
HOMES ME! I would want lots of big windows and a beautiful yard to look at.
Lizzie says
HOMES ME! – It would be wheelchair accessible!…not super dreamy, but something my family has the headache of adapting our current house to right now.
Brianne says
Homes me!
Welll…. We are in the process of moving/finding a house in RICHMOND! Since we aren’t familiar with richmond at all, our priority is a good, safe location with a great community. That tops the list…the rest will fall into place after.
Ps. Thank you for your top ten list of things to do in Richmond post. It was our bible when trying to explore Richmond.

If we were to buy a new home I’d want a master bath. Sharing with the kids is getting old. If we couldn’t get a master I’d at least want a bigger bathroom. The one on the second floor of our cape is tiny.

HOMES ME!
My must-haves would include a *real* master bath (as opposed to the teeny tiny one we have now), and a fenced yard for our doggie so she could have free reign instead of being tied up outside!
Becky Trask Blalock says
HOMES ME! I need a self-cleaning toy room!
Nikki says
HOMES ME!
I have always dreamed of a wrap around porch!
Nupur says
HOMES ME! I’d love a fenced in yard. Our yard is wild and wonderful but the dog wanders!
Mackenzie says
HOMES ME!
I’d definitely be looking for something by some water and mountains. Ahhh… sigh with me now :)
