An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

HOMES ME! My number one must have would be a house in Minnesota close to family!
Samantha says
HOMES ME!!! I think having a dry basement would definitely be on the list in a dream home…if it was finished, that would be even better!
Laura says
HOMES ME! We just bought a new house not too long ago and were able to find a lot of what we wanted in one house. But if I were to go back and do it again I would only buy a house as long as it came with Rosie the cleaning robot from the Jetsons!
Kimbre B says
HOMES MEEEE!!! I need a house with two bathrooms! And a security system. There have been five break-ins on my block in the past two years (3 quite recently). Thankfully, they haven’t hit our house yet! Oh, and hubby wants a garage to keep his classic ’79 Chevy Silverado safe from the bird poopie! :)
Christopher says
HOMES ME!
A finished basement!

HOMES ME!
BONUS QUESTION: Very simple-A heated garage. Up here in Canada, I’m just getting so sick of scraping my car off and heating it up, and we’re not even half way through winter! To avoid that entirely would be enough for me to get on my knees and sing praises. If it was a double car garage, then I’d have my own woodshop and pretty much be in heaven right there.
Jessica L says
HOMES ME! After living in this 400 sq foot apartment with coin-op laundry for almost a year, my only requirements are washer/dryer hookups and more than one closet. And a little more square footage for our kitty to play would be nice!
Stacey says
Homes me please! :-)
Katie says
HOMES ME!
Kelsey says
HOMES ME! So much home improvement, so little funds.

HOMES ME! Is a claw-footed tub too much to ask for?! Totally a dream, hardly a necessity, but still fun!
Grace says
“HOME ME!” must haves would definitely be updated kitchen and baths. having lived through my kitchen renovation was less than fun and would most likely like to skip anything like that again.
Jen @ Migonis Home says
Homes Me! Larger square footage (we have a second child on the way) and close to my husband’s work and our church. Thanks for hosting!
Alie says
Homes Me! We live in a townhouse right now and we would to live in a house with a big private back yard. And more living room space…and more kitchen space…and…the list could go on and on! :)
Miranda says
HOMES ME! After dealing with electrical issues in an old house, modern and updated electric would be a must in a new home.
Kaitlin says
HOMES ME!
Location is at the top of my list. A close second is having enough outlets. Right now we have 2.5 baths and there is only one outlet in one of them, and that one only works when the light switch is turned on.
Mike says
HOMES ME!!
A big kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a yard for my son to play in.
Kelly says
Homes me! I’d take an extra living space. We only have one — it would be great to have another to spread the five of us around sometimes…
cristy says
HOMES ME!…
…more bedrooms (we are a new family of 6 living in a 1400 sq ft 3 bed/2ba
and a LARGE laundry room!
Vanessa says
Homes me! My must have is a toss up between location (something close to downtown) and character! I can’t stand builder basic white box houses.
Meg says
Homes me!
Easy. A wood stove please!
Nicole says
HOMES ME! At least 2 bathrooms! And 4 bedrooms. And a decent sized backyard.
Luckily I’m describing my current house. But even after living here 5 years, it’s not very “finished”. You guys are giving me the bug to get it done.
Shannon says
HOMES ME! I want a bit of land with my house, hardwood floors, and an outdoor shower (we live in SoCal).
Rachel says
HOMES ME! If I were to buy a new house today, the first thing at the top of my list would be a BIG kitchen!
Emily says
HOMES ME!
If we got another home, it would have to be on water. Preferably a lake. I know it sounds crazy, but we majorly lucked out with our current property being on a lake and there’s something amazing about waking up to such a lovely view. It’s so relaxing! :)
Jen says
HOMES ME! We are actually building a house right now and square footage was definitely a key factor for us. We hope to have a little one shortly so it’s critical to have the space for all those plastic toys.
Trisha says
HOMES ME!!! If I bought a house today, my must-have item would be a kitchen island. Thanks!!!
Julie says
HOMES ME!
We are actually considering a move from the big city (LA) to a smaller city on the east coast…and are considering, among others, Richmond :-) We’d be super happy with a slightly bigger house (we’re currently just under 1200 sq feet) in a nice, walkable neighborhood.
Ashley says
Homes me!
More sq feet! We thought this house would be big enough, but with 3 kids, maybe not!
Tara says
HOMES ME! Separate Mud Room/Laundry Room. Definitely!!
Donna says
Homes Me! I would love a big open kitchen, a master bathroom and a mudroom.
Brandon W says
HOMES ME!
An office space for my freelance work.
Lauren says
HOMES ME! Wow, we for sure need more square footage. We have outgrown our condo with our son and spunky pomeranian.
Amy says
Homes me! I would love a fireplace…no place to hang the stockings this year! And, a nice fenced in yard for my dogs.
Miranda Morris says
HOMES ME!
NO TEXTURED WALLS! Thats how much I currently hate my walls!
Kate says
Homes Me!!
More bathrooms!!
Becca says
HOMES ME! I love our house, but if we ever move I will definitely look for a house with a larger laundry room.
Adria Ray says
HOMES ME!
If we were to buy a new house, I think I’d want larger closets/more storage space. Going from an apartment to our first home, it seemed that we had so much storage space, but now that we have a baby, there aren’t enough nooks and crannies to store all the baby gear (in addition to all of Mommy’s clothes that no longer fit – boo!)
Faith Plvan says
HOMES ME! a fenced-in yard.

Bonny says

I’d love to spend the money on painting and updating my house. I’m not sure if I’d start in the bathroom or kitchen though!

I would LOVE a fireplace. My house has pretty much everything I wanted, except that.
Anna- lifefoodfamilylove.com says

Meg Smith says
Homes Me!!! Pretty, pretty, please!!!
dara says
HOMES ME! Definitely a big kitchen and great location! We just bought our first home and are about to move in!
Kate P says
HOMES ME!
I would look for a house with a great outdoor living space! Our backyard needs serious work – and buying one with all of that work already done sounds fantastic.
Rebecca says
Homes Me!
I love that our house now has character, but if we were to purchase a new one, I would definitley need a master suite, and a second living area!
Maegan says
HOMES ME! So sad, but I’d really just like a house that is better insulated. I have a chill from November through March in our current (rental) home!

HOMES ME!
