An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes,me! Without a doubt, our next home purchase will include two bathrooms. I had no idea that our pick of character over practicality would become such an issue when we bought our little one potty-roomed house.
Vanessa says
HOMES ME! (Please!)
Lots of space to entertain. (Nice yard with good sized deck AND big basement to keep entertaining through the cold MN winters!)
Lauren king says
Homes me!
I have to have a bathroom that my husband and I can both stand in! Right now we have a tiny bath that makes you feel cramped and crowded. The good side is, I can sit on the toilet lid to blow dry my hair at the mirror!
Marcelle says
HOMES ME!
A backyard! It’s about the only thing that would be non-negotiable, regarless of price or location.
jill says
HOMES ME! A new home would need to be even more dog-friendly. With the many foster dogs coming in and out of our house, there are a few things I’d change up (e.g., doggy door, less scratchable flooring, better yard).
robin says
HOMES ME! I’d want a working organized garage!
Alaina says
HOMES ME!
I would want a music room!
Anita says
HOMES ME!
I’ll take one extra bedroom, please :-)
Kai says
HOMES ME!
I would want something in our current neighborhood (love it!), and it would definitely need a second bathroom. We make 1 work, but having guests over is a PITA.
Daynes Mackey says
Homes Me! I’d like a big, fenced in back yard.
Gina says
HOMES ME!
I would love a bathroom with a huge separate tub. someday :)
Andrea says
HOMES ME!
Bigger closets! Our are nice and wide, but super skinny. Hard to make them work for storage!
Heather says
Homes me! For us, neighborhood is one of the most important things we look for – finding a nice fixer-upper with good bones that we can s….l…o…w…l…y transform into a place of our own.
Martha says
HOMES ME! If I bought a house today, it would have to have a large kitchen – it doesn’t need to be pretty (500 bucks will help me fix that!) but it needs to have good square footage. And a deep sink wouldn’t hurt either.
MissPinkKate says
HOMES ME! I want his & hers bathroom sinks!
Melissa says
“HOMES ME!”
I’m very thankful for our cute, cozy house but we will upgrade a level or so someday so we can have closet space and a 2-car garage. Tandem parking is for the birds.
Casey says
HOMES ME!
We just bought a house in March and we love it! For us it all about space and privacy!
Jasmine says
HOMES ME!
I want a fabulous kitchen and more bedrooms/rooms. We need an office!

A total fixer-upper with all the right things wrong.

Ginger says
HOMES ME!
A good foundation is all I care about when we manage to escape our first house someday!
Carol N. says
“HOMES ME!”
A one-level house would be a must. I’m facing knee replacement surgery soon and we put in an elevator last year since our house has two levels.
Kim R says
Homes me please! I love my house, but if I were buying a new one I’d want a bit more space and a second bathroom.
Laura says
Homes me!!! If we moved, our next house would have to have an open concept. Our 1952 home is a series of small rooms all divided by walls. Pretty dark, and not at all friendly for entertaining.
katie says
Homes me!
A master suite with a big bathroom and walk in closet!
Scott says
HOMES ME!
An attached garage…or a money tree planted out back.
Valerie says
homes me! I would want one of the beautiful restored mansions closer to downtown :)
Lindsey says
Homes me!
A kitchen with updated appliances and solid cabinets. I thought the freedom of having a kitchen that needed to be totally gutted and redone would be awesome. But, saving the money and beginning to consider layouts, cabinets, counter tops, flooring, hardware, appliances, et cetera is so overstimulating!

I would absolutely love to win this giveaway! I am currently renting an apartment in a large complex, and a little extra money would really help me spruce up the place and make it feel more like a home. I would love to get a new rug (I’ve had my eye on the same one that you guys got from Urban Outfitters!) and possibly some new chairs for the dining room table (Currently only have two stool that are too high for the table, but hey they work for now!)
Christine says
HOMES ME! I’d love a craft room/office!
Michelle says
“HOMES ME!”
If I were buying today my must have would be “walking distance to shops and restaurants” compared to when we bought our current house it was “close to schools.” My what a difference a college aged kid makes!
brynne says
HOMES ME! I’d like more space… and a walk in closet!
Angie says
HOMES ME!! If I were buying again I’d be sure there was a mudroom — tired of bookbags, shoes, etc. trailing into the family room.
Christina P (NS) says
HOMES ME!
If we were to buy a new home I would love more usable wall space, it sounds random and something you wouldn’t really think about when looking(the first time) but we have partial walls, walls w heaters or windows…… it doesn’t leave us with too many placement options!
JenniB says
Homes Me!
Our next place will require more square footage. We have a 950sqft (2bd/2bth) condo in downtown Vancouver (Canada)…. and it is considered ‘spacious’. Crazy!
Coran says
Homes Me! A yard for the kids & dog
Hannah says
HOMES ME! I would love a house with an extra den or sunroom.
Lissa says
HOMES ME!! I would love a house with hardwood floors throughout and a separate laundry room.
Olivia says

Someday we’d love to have a bigger yard and/or roof garden…
jamie says
HOMES ME! I would love a more walk-able neighborhood and designated bike paths along the road.
Elizabeth E says
Homes me please! WE love our house, but the next time around a mudroom/drop zone area is a must have!
Lenore says
Homes me!
A fireplace – I’ve always wanted one, and the house I eventually buy will have one!
wkbruner says
Homes me!
I’d like more land in general. I don’t need a mansion if I have room to walk outside on my properpty!
brianne sheppard says
HOMES ME! I would buy a house with a few less stairs ;) Our 4 level split has been great, but now that I`m expecting again I`m having nightmares of babies and stairs!
erica says
HOMES ME!
I would just want a slightly bigger version of what I already have… Bungalow life in the city :)
Jen N. says
Homes me!
All I really need to be happy is a large kitchen. That’s non-negotiable!
