An early Christmas present (in the form of this $500 Visa gift card) has randomly chosen to come to the hands of… Mary (whose dream house would be a “big cozy log cabin out in the woods” complete with fishing pond, swimming pool, hot tub, huge whirlpool tub in her bathroom and a giant walk in closet. Her fantasy list doesn’t end there, so check out her comment for the rest). Congrats Mary!
With a URL as broad as Homes.com, there are a lot of topics you might think they cover. Because people buy homes. They decorate homes. They do home improvements. You get the idea. Well, Homes.com does cover all of those things – from all stages of the home buying process to decor and DIY. We especially enjoyed their home values and city profiles (because we’re nerds for stuff like that). But what you’ll probably enjoy the most is the chance to win a $500 Visa gift card from Homes.com this week. Yup, five hundred dolla dolla bills (in plastic form) to spend wherever you’d like for whatever stage of home ownership you’re currently enjoying. Oh yeah, and they’re also giving away a signed copy of our book over on their blog.

Homes Me! If I were buying a new home I would make sure it had lots of bedrooms for future kiddos!
LucyD says
HOMES ME! I’d want a front door that doesn’t open directly into the living space.
Anna says
Homes Me!
I’m looking for a place with a great kitchen (or a space with potential) – but a room/space for my library/study/studio would be awesome too!
jane says

HOMES ME!
I’d love a fenced-in yard for the pup I hope to get!
Kim Y says
HOMES ME! We just bought our first house last February. If we were to buy again, I would want the neighbors to not park in front of my house! :)

Amanda says
Homes me!
Love a bigger yard with a pool.
emily says
HOMES ME!
I live in Santa Monica, CA, where the buildings are old and the closets are tiny. This makes for a generally charming beachy bungalow feel, but I really would love more space and a closet twice the average size.
Lisa Nowak says
“HOMES ME!” A must have would be a fenced in backyard.
Marcia Lamar says
HOMES ME
A different neighborhood.
Amy says

I’d love so many things in a new house – hardwood floors, new kitchen, space for the kids, you name it!
Molly says
Homes Me!
an awesome laundry room.
Sara C. says
HOMES ME!
I would love both a different neighborhood and a split floor plan. Now that my son is a teenager, having our rooms so close together is not as much fun.

Hillary says
I would avoid a split level this time around. Getting a toddler and a newborn up and down wooden stairs several times a day is no easy task.
Ellen says
HOMES ME!
I am such a geek because I would need a nice little yard for my Yorkie Pom Gracie. She likes to think the world revolves around her and I seem to be supporting that!
Brenna says
Homes me! If I were buying a new house, I’d go for one with a larger master suite.
Holly says
HOMES ME!
I LOVE our house, but if I had to move, a must have for me would be a mud room, or rather an area by the garage where we could put one in. We live in S. CA, and homes here don’t have mud rooms, but I still want one, even if we had to built it in ourselves!
Cassie Marquette says
HOMES ME!
I’m looking for a home with a huge kitchen!
Melissa says
HOMES ME
My dream house would have a library and a giant tub (but not a giant tub in a library, ’cause that’s weird).
Julia says
Homes me! A space for a vegetable/herb garden.
Emily R says
Homes me!
I love my condo, but if money weren’t an issue I’d make sure to buy my next condo with some outdoor space, a second bedroom and a washer dryer!
Melissa says
Homes Me! I would like a bigger back yard with a deck and patio!
Jenny C. says
HOMES ME!
Plenty of garage space!
Patty says
HOMES ME!
I love the location of my current house (6 miles to work!), but our neighbors aren’t the best. I think if I were to buy a new house now, I’d look for a house with a bigger yard, so more space between houses! :)
Lia says
HOMES ME!! I’d love a yard. At this point….any sized yard will do.
Margaret DeWees says
HOMES ME!
From your blog, I’ve learned that you can MAKE your home your dream home…so really, I’d just love to have the finances to decorate like crazy. And maybe a new brain that thinks like a decorator :)
leona says
homes me! i’d love a sunroom off the kitchen…
Katie Cahill says
Homes me! An extra bathroom and off-street parking!
Sara says
HOMES ME!
I’d love to have a coat closet..or even better yet…a dedicated mud room.
Annie says
HOMES ME!
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think I’d choose a house further from the beach. Still kind of rocked and wrecked from Sandy…
Trina says
Homes me! A good neighborhood is at the top of my list!
Katharine says
HOMES ME! I would love a house with second bathroom. One is just not enough for long term plans.
Jamie says
HOMES ME!
I want our next home to have a huge bathtub that is perfect for bubble baths! I’d like old charm with modern updates. I wouldn’t be opposed to his and her master bedroom closets either!
Catherine says
HOMES ME! I’d love a house closer to my husband’s job, so his commute would be shorter than an hour…
LM says
HOMES ME!
I would buy a ranch-style home with no stairs whatsoever. I am getting lazy and don’t like stairs any longer. :)
Jennifer F. says
HOMES ME! The list is so long, but I’d love a mudroom/dog wash area, and a fabulous outdoor terrace!
Lauren Nicole says
Homes Me!
I would have to have my laundry room in my bedroom, just like it is now. I hate doing laundry as it is, so I can’t imagine I would ever want to haul it to/from another part of my house!
Tarah says
HOMES ME!
I would love a yard for our daughter to play in. We’re renting an apartment now, and it makes getting enough outdoor time hard for our family without driving somewhere.
Kristen says
Homes me! I’d like another bedroom (or two) and another full bath.
Erin E. says
HOMES ME! Hardwood floors are a must!
Daisy says
HOMES ME!
I’d love a kitchen with more counter space–perhaps an island? I’d gladly sacrifice the square footage of the other rooms just to make that possible!
shannon says
HOMES ME!!We desperately need a new home closer to our work!!
Becca says
HOMES ME!
We love our house, but would definitely appreciate an additional bedroom and a bigger backyard!

HOMES ME!
I would love a master suite, just for a little more “me” elbow room.

Katie says
HOMES ME!!!! My must have would be more space in the living room and kitchen to cook and decorate!!
Jennifer says
HOMES ME!
I must have a bigger kitchen.
Katie says
HOMES ME!!! A new house “must have” for me would be ceilings at a reasonable height. We bought our current house after living in a three story townhouse. The 20+ ft vaulted ceilings are nice, but after living with them for a few years, it’s hard to dust tall windows, ceiling fans, plant ledges, etc.
Lauren says
Homes me!
We just bought our first house in August and I hope to hold on to it for a while, but if we bought a new one, I’d like to have a little more square footage and input on the layout of the kitchen.
