Ok, so maybe you didn’t get that bit of bling you wanted for Valentine’s Day earlier this month. Here’s your chance to rectify the situation with some personalized jewelry from Lisa Leonard Designs. She even sells home decor-related pieces like necklaces with a chandelier, paper lanterns, frames and a house key on them. If those aren’t designs after our own home-loving hearts than we don’t know what is.
I’m not so good with the jewelry lingo, but word on the street (or at least from the pregnant lady standing behind me right now) is that Lisa’s hand-cut and hand-hammered sterling silver necklaces, bracelets and earrings are well-worth shouting “oooh, I love that one… and that one… and that one” in your husband’s ear. In fact, Sherry loved the earrings that Lisa sent her way so much that we recently bought a set for my little sister’s birthday. And they barely take them off (so yes, my sister and my wife are often at family events sporting matching earrings).
And if you’re having trouble picking a favorite, perhaps this will make life a bit easier: Lisa Leonard Designs is giving away TWO $100 gift certificates towards anything in her store, so our winners can snag more than one thing if they just can’t decide. Plus if you don’t win, they’re generously dishing out a discount to everyone else, so stay tuned for that along with our winner announcement on Thursday. In the meantime, here’s how to enter:
- PRIZE: A $100 credit towards anything in Lisa Leonard Design’s entire collection
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WEAR ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …tell us about something in your closet that doubles (or that you wish could double) as home decor. Do you display your purse collection for all to see? Do you swag a scarf over a hook by the door for some color? Or do you have a favorite dress whose fabric would look awesome as curtains or an accent pillow?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, February 24th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
- PRIZE SHIPS: All over the globe!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I wish I had a better option for jewelry display, which would make wearing them more often easier too. My pesky cat would probably try to attack them all though!

I keep a scarf wrapped around my desk chair for a punch of color.

The only wearable thing I have that could double as decor is my jewelry collection, which current is sprawled out all over my dresser because I am taking a page from YHL and painting my jewelry box white!

I have used a fabric that I reupholstered some dining room chairs with as framed artwork—frayed some of the ends, stiched some together in opposing directions (it is a green plaid) and placed it in a glass fronted shadow box. Easy to change out as you want:)

I use hair ribbons and scarves as tie backs. I try to match them by color and I love the effect – plus it means that they are not taking up space in a drawer and i always know where to find them which means i probably where them more!

I hang those re-usable grocery bags on our wall hooks in the kitchen. Some of them are really cute like one I have from Whole Foods. Has a really cute bee-hive and honey pot design on it and just looks so cute in the kitchen!

I haven’t done it yet, but I’m thinking of altering a long straight skirt I own to make it knee-length. The fabric is gorgeous and I was thinking that I could use the fabric that I cut off from the skirt to cover the seat cushion of a favorite wooden chair.

I don’t think I have anything in my own closet, but my husband does his best to “decorate” the house with his coat, sweater, and dirty socks when he gets home from work. ;)

WEAR ME! I think scarves can double as decor, either hung on a wall or strewn across a table. Also, I love open shelving in kitchens that exposes cute dishes and mixing bowls, as well as hanging pots and pans. Functional art!

after losing forty pounds and happily needing to buy smaller size clothes, I’m planning to upcycle several great items from my closet by using the fabric to make things like throw pillows, clutch purses, and whatever else I can come up with!

I love to crazy quilt, so I’ve taken old courderoy clothes (pants, thrift store shirts, etc.) and made handbags out of them. I love them, and they’re really durable and fun. Currently, I’m in the process of collecting enough “formal fabric” from bridesmaid dresses and wedding gowns to make a quilt for our guestroom bed. I think it’ll look great with the chic white furniture we’ve refinished and will really make our guests feel special!

I’m not sure if this really counts, but we just had all our closets professionally organized and now I find myself leaving the closet doors open so that I can catch a glimpse of the organized loveliness everytime I walk by. So, yes, those are my clothes and shoes, but they are now functioning as part of the decor—–and I love it!

I switch out my necklaces on a small thumb tack in our masterbath and it serves as interesting decor.

I have a mannequin that I bought years ago when a boutique was going out of sale and I hang all my scarves and purses from it to help decorate a corner of my bedroom. I love the way “she” looks wearing all my favorite accessories.

I display my shoes on floating shelves in our closet. Since I have little desire to buy real art, I consider the shoes art :)

I just recently transformed my messy jewelry collection (it was in several different boxes all over my dresser) to a beautiful display on top of my dressor using a necklace tree and beautiful dish to put my bracelts on. Plus, it makes it easier to choose which piece I’ll wear that day!

My sisters and mom gave me a scarf that perfectly matched the (wide) color palate we used at our wedding. In the fall, I use it as a table runner since the purples, oranges, reds and yellows look great on my dark wood table with some mini-white pumpkins.

Sometimes I double my pashmina’s as an accent color in my living room for a throw over the couch. (Most pashmina’s are almost like a mini blanket anyhow!)

I have several things in my bedroom that initially came from my wardrobe!
Over my small window I’ve used a scarf as a valance. I’ve used other scarves to cover small 15″x15″ square frames to hang on the wall. My dress form lives in my room, and I dress “her” to suit my mood and decor. And I’ve made a display of all my jewelry on one wall as decoration!
Love the blog!

I have a collections of sweaters that I don’t really want to part with. I dont wear them but they are super cool knits or textures. My goal is to use them to make these – http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_pn8_0F5vLOc/SckmQbjGwrI/AAAAAAAAAkw/chjXULG6K0E/s400/P1120492.JPG&imgrefurl=http://vintagesongbird.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html&usg=__aEeN_RgeCdyATexOE56Wt_lJDVM=&h=400&w=300&sz=25&hl=en&start=24&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=WGH_u3gDi4RVXM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=93&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsweater%2Bwreath%26start%3D21%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Den%26ndsp%3D21%26tbs%3Disch:1

WEAR ME!!! I never enter these because, well, so many people enter them. But, after coveting Lisa Leonard’s stuff for years I have to give it a shot! I have a beautiful, soft slate-blue pashmina my mother-in-law gave me that is draped over the back of a leather armchair in the summer months but in the winter, I wear it as a scarf nearly every day. Have to love getting double duty out of something!

I have a pretty swanky scarf/shawl my mom got me from Europe, that I use to block the window in the front door of my apartment. It’s beautiful and has people admiring it from both outside and inside! What a wonderful solution for both privacy & aesthetic appeal.

This might sound kinda weird, but I think my rubber muck boots that I wear to the barn are oooh la la as home decor. haha. I dunno something about those green rubber boots caked in mud sitting by the fireplace spark my fancy. I’m probably the only one.
